The sun's rays come through the window of Rave's room and shine onto her face. She feels the heat on her face and slowly wakes up. She gives out a little groan as she sits up from her bed. She looks at her alarm clock and jumps out of bed. She runs out of her room, still in her pajamas, and into her "mother's" room. "Wake up Sydney," Rave yells, "Wake up! It's time for me to go soon." Sydney is Rave's foster mother. She found her when Rave was just a baby. "Alright," she weakly said, "I'm up. Go take a shower and have some breakfast. Then I 'll give you your surprise. A huge smile spread across Rave's face as she ran out of the room and jumped into the shower. After the shower Rave changed into her clothes and walked into the kitchen, and saw Sydney sitting at the kitchen table. "Come eat your breakfast," Sydney said as she pointed to the food. Rave walked to the table and sat down and started to eat. After they finished eating, Rave cleaned the table and sat down next to Sydney. "Are you excited?" Sydney asked. "Yes! I'm very excited!" Rave joyfully replied. "Then here you go," Sydney said as she handed Rave a Pokeball. "Thanks!" Rave yelled as she took the Pokeball. "Don't open it in here," Sydney quickly said, "I know you'll be a great trainer.you better get going now." They both walked to the door, giving each other hugs and kisses at the door, and said their good-byes. "Make sure you call me from time to time," Sydney yelled as Rave walked down the street. "I will," Rave yelled back. Rave knew that her first destination would have to be the Celadon City Gym. It wasn't a long walk to the Gym. She walked into the door and was confronted by three women. "Excuse me, do you like perfume," one of the women asked. "Yes," Rave replied. "That's great! Would you like some free samples?" another of the women asked. "No thanks," Rave said, "I came here to battle Erika." The three women were starting to get on Rave's nerves, as they laughed at the idea of Rave defeating Erika. Rave was escorted into the Gym, where she had to wait a few minutes for Erika to arrive. "Sorry for the delay," Erika apologized, "I here you want to battle me?" "That's right," Rave happily replied. "Ok then, we'll make it a three on thr." "Excuse me," Rave interrupted, "I only have one Pokemon. ".Oh, okay. We'll make it a one on one." Erika said sympathetically. "Go Gloom," Erika said as she threw her Pokeball into the air. "A Gloom," Rave said as she started to worry because she didn't know which Pokemon she had. "Pokeball, go," Rave said as she through her Pokeball. Her Pokeball opened and out came a Bulbasaur. "A Bulbasaur!" Rave yelled joyfully. "Gloom, use your Stun Spore," Erika said. Gloom shot out it's Stun Spore at Bulbasaur, who managed to dodge the attack. "Bulbasaur, use your Leech Seed," Rave seriously said. A seed shot from Bulbasaur's bulb and hit the slow Gloom, who started to get it's energy sucked out. Erika started to worry as her Gloom fell to the ground. "Now Bulbasaur, Tackle it," Rave yelled. Bulbasaur charged at Gloom and hit it into the air. Gloom fell to the ground once again, but got back up. "Gloom, use your Absorb attack," Erika yelled. Bulbasaur suddenly started to get it's energy sucked out too. Both Bulbasaur and Gloom were now getting their energy sucked away from them. Both trainers knew it was just a matter of who would stand the longest now. They watched in amazement as the first one to fall was.Gloom. "YEAH!!!" Rave enthusiastically yelled, "We did it Bulbasaur." Erika recalled Gloom and Rave was given the Rainbow Badge. "Congratulations," Erika said as she shook Rave's hand. Rave pinned the badge onto her tank-top and recalled Bulbasaur. She then stopped at the Pokemon Center to get Bulbasaur healed. While waiting for Nurse Joy to heal Bulbasaur, Rave saw a poster about the S.S. Anne. It will be leaving Vermilion City shortly. Rave really wanted to get on the ship. After getting Bulbasaur, she left Celadon City and headed for Vermilion City.
