Marley woke up first. She was very sore and it hurt to breathe in deeply. Slowly and surely she was going to recover. Josh was a heartless being who would no longer have anything to do with her or Hoku, Griffin, Sarah, Nick or Jessie. Marley had remembered him saying something about a ring. . . he needed a ring. She had given it to Hoku. Hopefully Josh won't find her. Eh, what are the odds? Marley tried to sit up and it didn't hurt a lot. That's good, she thought. She wanted a speedy recovery, so she could enjoy life on the S.S. Anne. Heck, she'd get on all fours just to look out at the gleaming sea. She picked up a mirror on the bedside table and looked at herself in it. Her black eye was gone. Her brown hair had been combed and neatly parted. Her skin was a little red but it was hardly noticeable. Overall, Marley thought she looked very good for someone who almost had died a few days ago. Marley could barley feel the moving S.S. Anne. She tried to look out the door but she couldn't see anything. Then her eyes met Nick's closed ones. Nick wasn't bad looking, not at all. His black hair added a sleek look to his cute and warm face. Marley instantly felt safe in his presence. She wished she could take some super glue and glue Nick to his seat so he could stay with her forever. He's the kind of man I only dream of, she thought. He saved me from Josh and that's all that matters. He cared enough about me to do that! What a guy! Marley stopped and thought. I'm falling in love with him . . . * * * * * * Hoku and Griffin were already on the deck of the S.S. Anne. They were watching Marley's Pokemon, as well as their own. Their Pokemon hadn't been out in a while and they felt like they were losing their freedom. Hoku was stretched out on a lounge chair, with Gloom and Sparks by her side. "Gloom! Gloom!" "Voltorb! Voltorb!" "Jeez, can't you guys keep quiet?" asked Hoku. Hoku was still on the lookout for Josh, who could be anywhere. "Gloom," Gloom then lowered its head. "Oh, I'm sorry! I didn't mean it that way. See I'm just trying to look out for Josh. . ." Hoku's voice seemed to trail off. Griffin's Beedril seemed to be chasing him. "Down, boy!" he said, as he put Beedril back in its PokeBall. "How could I hide myself from Josh . . . ?" Hoku thought aloud. "I've got it! Griffin, I'll be right back!" Hoku rushed out of her lounge chair and down to the gift shop. "Free?" Griffin's Butterfree asked Tangela. About a half hour later . . . "Hey Griffin!" Hoku's voice called. "Look!" Hoku emerged from the cabin. Except she looked much, much different. She had dyed her hair blond! * * * * * * Nick woke up slowly. Marley watched closely. "Marley?" he asked. "Yup, I'm right here," she said gingerly. "Oh, hello. Good morning. How are you feeling?" Nick got up from his seat and walked over to the bed. "I'm much better, thank you." None of them could find anything more to say. I really like her, thought Nick as he smiled. What should I say? Hi, I'm falling in love with you, thought Marley with a hint of sarcasm. "So, uh. . ." began Nick shyly. Both were blushing a little bit and couldn't stop smiling. Nick slowly got closer to Marley. Marley was smiling like a fool. Nick brushed back a strand of hair on Marley's face. Both had never felt so awkward. Nick and Marley's lips slowly met and they exchanged a tender kiss. Little did they know, Jessie stood frozen at the cabin door, with her hand over her mouth. * * * * * * Marley woke up. It was all a dream! She felt so depressed. The kiss seemed so real. The first thing she noticed was that Nick was gone. Marley started to panic. Where could he be?!? She was so scarred without him there. As she franticly looked around, she found a mirror. She slowly picked it up as her hand was shaking. Only after a few seconds, she screamed and threw the mirror at the wall. Marley's eye was looking even worse than it did last night. It was bloody red, with a blue hue. Her whole face was as red as a cheery. Marley's hair was completly messed up. She horrificly ugly, and it hurt to look at herself in the mirror. But what would Nick think if he saw her like this?!? She heard someone turning the knob. Nick was coming back! Marley quickly hid her face under a pillow. "Hey Marley, I got us some breakfast!" "Just leave it on the table right here! I'm still sleeping!!!," she yelled under the pillows. Her voice was very nervous and scarred. If Nick saw her like this, he'd never love her. Nick walked over to the other side of the bed. Marley had to face away as he set her breakfast down. * * * * * * Griffin was shocked at Hoku's new hair color. "I figure that this will hide me from Josh, ęcause I know he's after me," said Hoku. "Yeah, good idea," said Griffin. "Have you seen him?" "No, and I hope not for a while." * * * * * * Josh looked around on the ship. No Hoku. Damnit, where could she be? he thought. Then he saw it. The black ring! That's her! But what happened to her hair? He didn't care. He pushed through the crowd. I hafta get to her, he thought as he ran faster and faster. "There she is!" Josh panted as he neared Hoku.
