Subject: [PW!] Dance of Thunder
Taron entered the Vermillion City gym like Clint Eastwoood
entering a Saloon. Totally, completely, confident. He owned this battle,
there was absolutely no way that Lt. Surge would win. In fact, Taron had
a feeling the Lieutenant would be getting a demotion or two.
"Whaddaya want Baby?" Surge chuckled. Taron ignored the insult.
"I'm here to challenge you." Surge shrugged. "Figures, nobody's ever
actually here to see ME," He sniffed. Taron backed away. *What the...?*
he thought, "I mean, I have feelings too. If ya tell a joke, do I not
laugh? If ya prick me do I not bleed? If ya kick me in the... Uh I mean,
if ya kick me, do I not cry out in pain? Does anybody ever say, how ya
doin' today Surge? What's going on in your life Surge? Does anybody ever
ask me anythin'?"
Taron's sweatdrop was growing bigger and bigger with each
passing second. " NO! It's always, gimme a Dunda' Badge. I'm here to
challenge ya, Surge. blah blah blah." Taron coughed nervously. "Uh
Lieutenant??" He said quitely. "Huh? Oh right. Uh don't expect me ta go
easy on ya baby."
"What was that about?" Suik wondered. "Hmm... Maybe he finally
snapped after getting beaten by ten year olds day after day." Procyon
speculated. Suik nodded thoughtfully. "Maybe." They fell silent after
that, the battle was about to begin.
"Okay baby, we'll each use one pokemon." He plucked a pokeball
from his belt. "Go Raichu." "RAI!"
Taron smirked. "One pokemon is all I need. Go.... Tumbleweed!"
He pitched the red and white orb into the center of the gym mat, on
which the aforementioned red and white colored monster ball spilt into
two equal halves, on a hinge (which by the way no one has ever actually
seen,) A beam of bright white light was released from said red and
white monster ball which then formed into a roughly bird-like shape. The
white energy turned into matter, then the shape was known to be that of
a Spearow, with it's head under it's wings, asleep.
"Oh man, he's in trouble now." Procyon muttered. Suik nodded in
"Okay, Tumbleweed use a Dig attack." Taron commanded, unaware
that the pokemon he was reffering to was in a pokeball, on his belt.
Talon, the Spearow, kept snoring away, blissfully unaware that it was on
"Taron!" Procyon shouted from the sidelines, "That's not
"No, it's your Spearow." Taron pulled out a pokeball,
"Uh oh! Talon Retu-"
"NO! Wait Taron, if you call it back, you lose automatically."
Taron put back the pokeball. "Well, okay. Talon, use a Fury Attack."
"Ah! It's alseep!" He reached into his backpack and pulled out
a long thin instrument. He began to play, "Bolero of Fire!" Nothing
happened. Taron put the instrument back to his lips, this time he
played "Reqieum of Spirit!" Again, nothing happened.
"Hey Link," Surge yelled from across the gym. "Play something
from the right video game." Taron sweatdropped. "Oh right..."
Then he played the traditional "Pokemon Wake Up Song"
Tah Dah! Talon awoke.
"Now can we battle?" Surge asked as his Raichu awoke after falling
asleep from boredom. Taron nodded.
"Okay Raichu, use a Thunderbolt!" Surge commanded. Talon
yawned, then dodged the oncoming bolt of electricity.
"Huh?" Surge said.
"Yeah, he dodged it! Talon, Peck it now!" Talong flew forward
and landed a sharp peck to the Raichu's head. It then swooped back to
it's own side.
Surge growled. "Alright, hit 'im again."
The battle went on like this for awhile. Surge's Raichu would
zap, Talon would dodge, then attack. Taron pulled out his second-rate
pokedex. "Begin scan of trained pokemon: Spearow."
"Scan parameters?" It asked
"Scan pokemon for knowledge of Agility maneuver."
*beep* "Scanning...Pokemon has not learned Agility"
"Wait, so you're saying it's that fast naturally??"
"Please re-state request."
"Nevermind." He closed the pokedex and put it back in his
Surge, by this time, was shooting his own sparks. "Raichu, Fill up the
entire stadium with electricity!!!" He then pulled himself into a full
rubber body suit.
"Oh, this is gonna hurt." Taron whispered.
When the lightning cleared, there was smoke, when the smoke cleared,
there on the gym floor lay a cajun fried blackened Spearow.
"Spe.." It coughed weakly.
Taron's shoulders sagged. He'd lost, but he was also proud that Talon
had lasted this long.
"Good job Talon, it's time to rest."
A red beam shot out of the pokeball, Talon got up and dodged the beam.
"Spearow!!" It yelled defiantly, then it's entire body began to
And indeed it was, the bright shape began to grow, the outstretched
wings became wider, the neck longer, the crest fuller.
"FEEEAAAROOOW!" Talon yelled defiantly.
Taron had a brief flashback of Procyon's second battle with Brock. About
how his Doduo Bulletwing, evolved into a Dodrio, then defeated Brock.
"Yeah, I'm going to win now!!" Taron shouted.
The newly evolved fearow took the hit, coughed, then fell over, fainted.
"Aww, nerts" Taron sighed as he recalled his bird pokemon.
