"Face The Thing That Should Not Be" Part 1
* * * *
All their lives, they only thought of each other as friends. Nothing more.
Well, maybe siblings at times, but the point is that they were never in a
boyfriend/girlfriend relationship. It always seemed that that had suited
them just fine. Jessie always thought that Nick never seemed to want a
girlfriend, and he always knew that she always had no problem finding a
boyfriend. But now, things were much different. Jessie was pregnant, and it
appeared that Nick was the father...

"So, uh," Nick mumbled. "Where do we go now?"
"I dunno," Jessie said as she kicked some sand. She wasn't sure if he meant
that as a retorical question or not.
They were walking down the beach of Porta Vista. The sun was setting into
the ocean, creating a beautiful orange sky. It made for a very romantic
scene, but Nick and Jessie were in a very awkward situation now.
Nick sighed. He was too afraid to bring up the pregnancy, so he tried to
talk about something else. "I'm homesick. I wanna go back to Cinnabar."
"It's too soon."
"Then where can we go?!"
Jessie put her hands in her pockets and shrugged. "I don't know," she said,
almost whining. "I don't know..."

Meanwhile, Josh and Arcturus were lounging in the cockpit chairs of the
Nemesis. Josh was relaxing, while Arcturus was playing around with a gadget
on the control panel.
"Giovanni said he's stay in contact with us," Josh said, breaking an hour or
so of silence.
"He hasn't called in days, Joshua." Arcturus' voice sent chills up Josh's
back. Josh hated it when Arcturus called him 'Joshua'.
"No matter," Arcturus continued. "We'll quickly find Nick, and after that,
we'll find the third sibling."
"Pfft, how the hell do you expect to do that?"
Arcturus slowly turned the chair towards Josh and glared straight into his
eyes. Josh stensed up in his chair. "You uh, found Nick then?," Josh said,
forcing himself to smile.
"Of course. He's on the Porta Vista beach.. I can sense it.."
Before Josh could comeback with a smartass question, Arcturus jumped out of
his chair and flew into the air. He turned around in midair and flew out the
room.
"Jeez, what a freak," Josh mumbled.

It was now dark out, but Nick and Jessie were still walking along the beach.
Earlier, they had tried to go back to their motel, but couldn't pay for
another night. They were out of money and out of luck. All they had were
their Pokemon, and each other. It was very silent and peaceful. All you
could here was the calm waves, the wind in the palm trees, and the
occasional cry of a Krabby.
They were not saying a word to each other. This was hurting Nick. His heart
ached to hold her hand, but he was scared. He so badly wanted to tell her
how he felt about her, but he was afraid. Afraid that she didn't love him as
much as he loved her.
He looked to his side, and saw that Jessie wasn't with him. He looked behind
himself and saw her holding herself, shivering. "What's wrong?," he asked.
"I'm c-c-cold," she muttered. Nick walked over to her and held her. She
rested her head and his shoulder. "Nick, where's something I need to tell
you..."
"What's that?," he asked anxiously.
"Well-" Jessie was interrupted by a loud shriek. She jumped, and started
quivering in Nick's arm. He looked up into the starry sky, but couldn't find
a thing. They heard another shriek, causing Jessie to whine.
"I'm scared, Nick," she quickly whispered, trying her best to hold back
tears. He continued to look up into the sky. All he could find were millions
of white dots.
And two green dots.
At first, they were as big as all the other stars in the sky, but in a few
seconds they started to grow larger and larger. Nick and Jessie continued to
hold on to each other for dear life as the green dots grew and grew.
Suddenly, the large black alien swooped down at them. Nick threw Jessie out
of the way just in time before Arcturus knocked him down to the ground.
Arcturus flew back up into the air, and swooped back down at Nick. He rolled
out of the way just before Arcturus came at him. Nick scrambled for a
Pokeball from his belt, but he was too nervous. His hands were shaking, and
all his Pokeballs fell from his belt and onto the sand. He bent down to pick
one up, but before he could, Arcturus swooped down at him again.
One of his claws went through the back of Nick's pants and out again. As
Arcturus flew up into the air, Nick was caught, and went up with him.
Knowing that he had gotten what he wanted, Arcturus started to fly away.
Jessie took her head out of the sand and looked up into the sky. She could
see the black exoskeleton of Arcturus, and Nick, flailing wildly in the air.
They both soon disappeared into the darkness of the night.
Jessie's heart sank low, and she started to whine. She pounded her fists
into the sand. She started to cry; very quietly and calmly at first, but in
a few minutes she was crying very loudly and passionately.
"Come back, Nicky!," she cried out loud. "Come back..."
* * * * *
About an hour later, Arcturus finally arrived back to the Nemesis. Nick's
constant flailing caused Arcturus a lot of trouble. As he arrived to the
ship, Josh opened a hatch at the top of the ship. Arcturus dropped Nick
through the hatch, and he fell on the ground. Josh kneeled down to the
ground next to him.
"Revenge will finally be mine, Nick," he said.
"We'll see," Nick mumbled.
"Oh, just shut up," Arcturus said as he entered the ship. He took out a
needle and gave Nick a shot, which immediately knocked him out.
* * * * *
Jessie was still on the beach, and she was still crying her heart out. She
had brought out her Electabuzz, and she was hugging it for comfort.
"I dunno what I'm gonna do Electra!," she whined.
"Buzzzzzzz..."
"I'm so scared; he always protected me..."
"Electa! Buzz!"
"I never told him how much I love him..."
"..."
Jessie wiped away her tears and laid down on the cold sand. She grabbed a
Pokeball and released Nick's Charmander.
"I'm cold, Vulcan...," she whimpered. He stumbled over to Jessie and
snuggled her. Electra did the same, and within minutes they were all asleep.
* * * * *
It was now morning, and the young sun shone on them. Jessie woke up to find
Vulcan still snuggling her, and Electra trying to pick a fight with the
local Krabbys.
"Good morning, Vulcan," she said in a cheery voice.
"Chaaaaaaar."
Jessie giggled. She slowly started to sit up, but then frantically looked
around. After realizing that Nick wasn't there, she immediately started
sobbing. Vulcan continued to hold onto Jessie as she stood up, still crying.
"Oh god what am I gonna do," she screamed.
"Maybe I can be of help." Jessie turned around to find Josh standing about
50 feet behind her. He was wearing all black, even his sunglasses. His large
trenchcoat was fluttering in the wind.
Knowing that Josh must've had something to do with Nick's abduction, Jessie
was suddenly filled with rage. She started yelling obscenities at him, and
dash after him. Josh pulled out a pistol on her, and she stopped about 20
feet in front of him.
"Don't try anything, you stupid girl, or I'll shoot you and that ugly
salamander."
Vulcan started to quiver, and Jessie tried to comfort him. "Chaaaar..," he
whined. Josh laughed.
Jessie glared straight into Josh's eyes. "Where's Nick?!," she asked.
"If you ever want to see him again, then come meet us at Cinnabar Island..."
"Cinnabar Island?!," Jessie said. She was bewildered that they would want to
meet in Jessie and Nick's home town.
Josh turned around and started to walk away. "Come alone. No reinforcements
of any kind, or we kill both Nick and Sarah on the spot."
Jessie's emotions were getting too out of hand. At both times she felt
sadness, emptiness, fear, and anger. In all the confusion of multiple
thoughts scrambling through her mind, she finally lost the strength to stand
on her own. She fell to her knees and continued to hold Vulcan.
"What am I going to do, Vulcan," she whispered. "It's hopeless..."
"Chaaaaaarrrr..."
* * * * *
Jessie was now wondering around the streets of Porta Vista. She tightly
clung onto Vulcan, who was doing the same to her. Electra was walking by her
side. The streets were full with tourists, and Jessie was starting to become
nervous and claustrophobic in the crowd.
She was desperately looking for a way to get back to Cinnabar Island. Jessie
had looked all over the place for transportation, but she didn't have enough
money to pay for it. She had gone to airports and marinas, but she had no
luck.
Discouraged, she made her way to the docks. It was filled with small sea
vessels and hoards of tourists. The sun was at the top of the sky, shining
brightly on Jessie. The heat started to get to her, and she started to get
very tired. She collapsed onto a bench.
"Man," she moaned. "I can't do this..."
