As the sun rose in the morning sky, sending darkness scurrying back
to its lair, a family of Ninetales and Vulpix slept in their small home
deep in a bush on Route 15. Amidst quiet snoring, light trickled its
way through the branches that surrounded the nest. The rays joined
together and danced across the floor, illuminating red and orange fur
before finally resting on the eyes of a particular Vulpix. Loriana's
eyes twitched, and she opened them up and stretched, careful not to
wake up her brother, Starshadow. Loriana looked upon her family, her 4
brothers, her 3 sisters, and her mother and father, then grinned as
only a Vulpix can grin. She got down on all fours, and started to crawl
between her sleeping siblings. Careful not to disturb anyone, she crept
closer to her father. At the last second she leapt into with a
loud "Vul!"
Just as her playful leap was about to hit its mark, the jaws of a
Ninetales clamped onto the scruff of Loriana's neck. Loriana struggled,
but the jaws kept a stern yet harmless grip. Loriana's mother, Firefly,
brought her favorite pup back to an empty area of the den, then Firefly
started her daily ritual of grooming. Once again Loriana struggled, but
could not break the grip of her mother's paws, nor could she escape the
dreaded tongue lashings as her mother cleaned out every inch of
Loriana's fur coat. Finally, she was clean, and Loriana dashed out the
entrance of the hole her family called home.
The outside world looked even more beautiful than ever. Sometime
during the night the wet stuff had come down from the blue forever, and
now the many green lovelies were glistening and shining, and the sight
filled Loriana with a sense of awe. She dashed out and immediately saw a
small Caterpie crawling along the ground. Remembering the lessons her
parents had taught her, she crawled along the ground, doing her best to
avoid making a sound. She got closer to the unsuspecting bug, then
finally dashed, leapt and tackled the small bug. The Caterpie flew
through the air as a result of the impact, and before it could land,
Loriana smacked it with her six tails, knowing that such an attack
would make the creature more susceptible to her lone real attack.
Calling her internal fire sac, Loriana let loose with a group of small
fireballs, charring the strange bug. the Caterpie was down, but far
from out, and Loriana prepared another last attack when suddenly a
group of Caterpie popped up from all over. Loriana looked in each
direction, then was suddenly assaulted as all these Caterpie
simultaneously used their String Shot. These thin lines hit her at all
sides, and soon she was wrapped up and unable to move. The Caterpies
laughed, then crawled off to do whatever little bugs do.
"Vulpix! Vuuullll!"
It was a while, but soon her mother appeared, and grudgingly
cleaned off the String with careful Fire Spin barrages. When she was
finally free, Loriana licked her mother on the nose, than joined
her siblings for breakfast.
The day came by uneventfully, and Loriana spent the morning racing
her brothers. Of the four of them it was her oldest brother,
Landwalker, who was able to keep up with her as they dashed around the
clearing outside the den. Just as Landwalker reached her Loriana leaped
back the way she came and knocked her brother over, then proceeded to
pin him down. Landwalker tried to toss her off, but Loriana simply
pushed down harder, and started to nip at her brother?s ears. When she
tired of that, Loriana gave her brother a Tail Whip in the nose, and
left as Landwalker went through a sneezing fit.
Loriana started to look for some Two-Leggeds to bother, but then
she saw the strange item. It was square in shape, and looked very much
like one of those strange shapes that have the round chewy tasties
(donuts) inside. Loriana's heart soared, as she loved to sneak these
from the bakery of the nearby Two-Leggeds's den. She took a careful
look to make sure both her parents (who disapproved of her eating
habits) and the Two-Legged ones weren't nearby, then charged in and
pounced on the box. When nothing popped out, she leaped on it again.
"Vul!" she yelled as she started wrestling with the box. She knew
the round tasties were inside, and nothing was going to keep her from
getting her tasties. Suddenly, strange noises started to come from the
box. Loriana backed away with glee, as she knew it was going to deposit
her tasties.
"Searching for compatible Pokémon. Compatible Pokémon found:
Vulpix. Activating program." Suddenly, a white light hit Loriana right
in the eyes. Light continued to pour from the box, and Loriana felt
herself gaining a strange type of knowledge. Suddenly, it was over.
"Program activation successful. Please deposit Technical Machine
No. 20 into a TM disposal unit. Have a nice day."
Loriana had no idea what happened, but she had little time to think
when she heard the cry of Snowshoe, her white-footed sister. This cry
was followed by those of her other siblings. Immediately Loriana dashed
off at a greater speed than she expected.
When she reached the clearing she was shocked. There was her
family, being terrorized by a group of Two-Leggeds in weird uniforms
with a strange shape on the chest. They were using many different
Pokémon to attack her family, then trapping them with strange rock-
shaped red things. Seeing her family ravaged in such a way caused
Loriana to feel a new sensation. She yelled out at the top of her lungs.
"VUUUUUULLLLLLLPPPPPPIIIIIIIIXXXX!!!!"
Such a loud cry got the attention of the Two-Leggeds. She could
hear one of them talking.
------------
"Look! Another Vulpix to catch! This is perfect! What a haul! And
we don?t have to worry about no stinking Jennies as well! I get the
first throw!" Immediately the Team Rocket member threw back his arm and
tossed a Pokéball at the Vulpix.
------------
Loriana had no idea what was sent her way, and soon it hit her
smack in the face. She was pulled inside of the shape, but her newfound
feeling caused her to fight against it, and soon she busted out of it,
smashing the rock to pieces.
------------
The Rocket looked in shock. "What the...? that was an Ultra Ball!
How could a measly little Vulpix break outta that! Go Raticate!"
------------
When Loriana saw the giant mouse charge at her, her feeling grew
stronger. These Two-Leggeds were forcing other Pokémon to fight for
evil purposes! The feeling grew even more powerful, and Loriana's eyes
grew red. The Raticate leaped into the air with its fangs bared when
Loriana let loose a torrent of fire. The fire smashed into the
Raticate, sending it flying back, right into the Two-Legged. Loriana
was even more surprised, her Ember attack was never that strong. When
she saw the Two-Leggeds in close proximity with each other, her brain
switched to automatic pilot. Her eyes glowed even more red, and she
burst into a fireball. Immediately the Two-Leggeds before her looked
scared. After releasing a loud yell, Loriana streaked towards the
group. Going faster with each step, she finally smashed right into the
Two-Leggeds that were in front of the group. They in turn slammed into
those behind them, and the entire group flew off into the distance like
the winged Pidgeots Loriana saw flying gracefully through the air.
With the Two-Leggeds gone, Loriana walked over to her family. Going
to the first rock, she touched it with her nose. Immediately the ball
opened up and after a flash of light, Rosetta appeared. Loriana
squealed happily, then set about releasing her other brothers and
sisters. Soon the entire family was free again, and Loriana was treated
as the heroine of a fairy tale.
That night, Loriana stayed outside the den for a while, staring at
the black forever. As she stared, she remembered both the bad Two-
Leggeds she had seen before, and the good Two-Leggeds that had fed her
family on the rare occasion they were found. Loriana hoped with all her
heart that one day, she will find a good Two-Legged which will show her
the outside world, just as her mother had been shown. After taking one
last glance at the black forever, she headed into the den, curled up
next to Starshower, and fell asleep.
TBC? (Phew, that?s one of the longest PW's I've written in a while. I
hope Loriana is well received, and don't hesitate to capture her if
you're character is in the area, just let me write a special good-bye
to her family story for her if you do.)
