From: Foratog5 (team_atog@geocities.com) Subject: [PW!] Just Another PW Story Newsgroups: alt.games.nintendo.pokemon Date: 2000/04/09 Nick woke up to find Marley in his arms. He didn't expect this; he could barely remember what happened last night. He remembered talking with Marley, in this very chair. And that was it. Did Nick sleep with her all night? He hoped not. That's just not right, eh? He was about to slowly get out of the chair when Marley woke up. She was still very drowsy, and kept her eyes closed as she snuggled onto Nick. Now THIS wasn't right, he thought. He met her yesterday, and he's already sleeping with her?!? Damn. He tried to get out of the chair again, but now Marley started to get agitated. She held on to him tightly, not letting go. Like a puppy dog who sticks with her mother after birth, Marley never wanted to let go of Nick. Neither one of them liked this situation. Nick was afraid that Marley would become dependent onto him like Sarah did after she was attacked by Josh. Marley, on the other hand, thought that only acting this way would scare him off. After thinking about this, Marley let go. It hurt to do so; but she knew she had to. Nick got out of the chair and into the other room. He took off his shirt. After examining it, he saw a large wet spot on it. Either Marley drooled on him, or she cried on him. Anyway you look at it, this wasn't good. Better not worry about it now, Nick thought. Marley was suffering. Sarah was missing. Jessie... he hadn't talked to her for days, and he felt guilty about it. "Marley," Nick began, "I'm going to get myself some breakfast. I'll be back soon." * * * * * After going through the breakfast buffet line, Nick scanned the cafeteria. To his relief, he found Jessie sitting at a table. She was combing her Vulpix. Nick sat down at the table and pet Vulpix on the head. "Hi Jessie," Nick said in a somewhat childish voice. "Hello." She didn't even look at him. Their greetings seemed so awkward, which never happened before to them. "So... what have you been up to?," Nick asked. "Nothing, really." "Oh." Nick tried hard to think of something to mention. Didn't he just do something important a few days ago? "Oh yeah. Guess what?" Nick waited for Jessie to reply, but she was too busy combing Vulpix. "I won a Thunderbadge against Lt. Surge." "..." "My Sandshrew, heh, Surge never stood a chance against it." "Hmm," Jessie moaned. Finally, a sign of life. After that, Nick quietly ate his breakfast. He was getting a bad vibe from Jessie. Had he done something wrong? Nah, nothing he could think of. But the silence between them was killing him, and he'd mention anything to end it. "I think I love that Marley girl I saved from Josh yesterday." Oops, he spilled the beans. Jessie slowly raised he head, and looked at Nick. "Oh?" "Uh, yeah. I guess." Both of them were shocked that Nick actually said this. Sure, Nick had told Jessie who he had a crush on a number of times. But this seemed to be a special case. "Why do you like her?," Jessie asked, with a slight smile. Nick sighed. "She is just so...beautiful. Her hair...her body...her hands...her legs...I can't stop thinking about her!" "Sounds like every crush you've had before," Jessie said, looking back down on her Vulpix. "But this is different, Jessie! I just know it is!" He paused for a moment. "I may even tell her I love her." This definitely surprised her. Never before has Nick told a girl anything like this. He's never had a girlfriend. Hešs never kissed a girl, except that one time Nick kissed Jessie on a dare. Jessie blushed when she thought of it. "I've never had anyone love me before," Nick said. Jessie froze in her tracks when she heard this. How could that be true, she asked herself. "Well," he said as he grabbed his milk carton. "I'm going back to her cabin. Maybe I can find something fun to do with her, eh?" "Yeah, sure." Jessie tried to say this very cheerfully, but the smile on her face was false. When Nick left the cafeteria, Jessie's smile quickly turned into a frown. She laid her head on the table and strained her eyes shut. Why did she feel so sad? Jessie had always wanted Nick to find a girlfriend. But something wasn't sitting right with her. Why did he think no one loved him, when that wasn't true? * * * * * As Nick was walking down the deck, he came across a poster that caught his eye. He read it's contents aloud: "Midnight Dance. Bring a date and dance the night away. Wow! That's perfect for me and Marley!" He immediately dashed out the deck and headed for Marley's room. But when he opened the door to her cabin, she wasn't there. Nick panicked, and ran for his cabin. Maybe she was there. But maybe Josh took her. Now he was very worried. To his relief, Marley was waiting at his cabin door. Nick said hello, unlocked the door, and let her in. She sat on his bed as Nick grabbed his Pokeballs. "Say, Marley," Nick said, "would you like to go to the Midnight Dance with me?" Marley was speechless. She had no idea what to say. TBC...
