Note: I'm just going to write the translations of what the Pokemon are
saying from now on.
asked Frankenduck the next day. They had
all had to sleep in the nearby forest, using the tent that Kasai had luckily
brought along.
"No way, Frankie! I've got to get my first badge!" said Prof. Kasai
determinedly.
"Yeah, I think so. Does it matter?"
said Frankenduck, smirking.
"Oh, don't think so negatively, Frankie!" said Kasai. "You can do anything
if you try!"
Frankenduck groaned.
"(We should get to the gym.)" Suggested Munchie, chewing on what was left
of a Pidgey he had caught.
"(What if she knows about how the police are after us?)" asked Chimera, who
was sitting on a rock.
"Oh, we shouldn't worry." Said Prof. Kasai.
"Have we ever gotten into a lot of trouble?" he asked. Before Frankenduck
could say 'yes', Kasai stood and pointed to the city. "Now, on to the
Saffron Gym!"
"(This place is creepy!)" said Chimera when they arrived at the gym.
said Frankenduck, opening the door.
The group went into the building. No one was around.
said Frankenduck. He sighed.
"Hey!" said an accented voice. "What are you, uh, things, doing here?"
A weird guy wearing a surgical mask with a Russian (I think.) accent walked
over to them.
"We're here to challenge the gym leader!" said Kasai, smiling.
The weird guy looked at his Pokemon and laughed. "You are a fool if you
think you can beat the great Sabrina with this pathetic collection of
Pokemon!"
"(.PATHETIC?!)" said Munchie, fire in his eyes. "(I'LL SHOW YOU
PATHETIC!)" Munchie leapt at the guy, and started biting his leg.
"GET IT OFF!!!!" shouted the guy, trying to kick him off his leg.
"Munchie! Bad Clefairy, down boy!" said Kasai angrily.
Munchie stopped his attack. "(Sorry.)"
"You are all insane!" said the weird guy. "But if you want, you can battle
the great one. Follow me."
laughed Cy-gor, his head and 'feet'
spinning rapidly.
They went to the room where they could battle. Sabrina was sitting in her
throne, levitating a Pokeball with her thoughts.
"Great Sabrina!" shouted the guy, causing her to lose her concentration for
a moment and drop the Pokeball. "This man wishes to challenge you!
Although it would be a waste of your precious time."
She sighed. "How many times do I have to tell you."
".Tell me what?"
"You do NOT tell me who I should battle." She said angrily, and threw the
guy across the room and out the door. The door slammed shut.
"(Well she's certainly cheerful.)" said Munchie sarcastically.
"(I hope we can win.)" said Chimera.
"Hi there!" said Kasai. "I'm Prof. Kasai, and I want to battle for a Marsh
Badge!"
Sabrina looked at the group. she thought, reading their
minds.
"I accept your challenge." She said. "And don't worry about me telling the
police."
"Uh, thanks!" said Kasai.
"(Hey, she seems pretty nice!)" said Chimera.
"The battle will be two on two, with no time limit." Said Sabrina. She
threw a Pokéball with her thoughts. "Go, Mr. Mime."
"Mime!" said Mr. Mime, looking cute.
"Hmmm." said Kasai, thinking. "A Psychic. I don't have any Bug or Ghost
types, so I'll just pick something that isn't weak to it. Go, Munchie!"
"Fairy!" said Munchie, skipping out, and looking deceptively cute.
"Substitute." Commanded Sabrina. Mr. Mime got out a plush chibi Rhydon
from no where, and walked over to Sabrina.
"Okay Munchie, you have to beat up that stuffed Rhydon!" said Kasai. "Use
Fire Blast!"
"FAIRY!!!" Munchie breathed an odd symbol of flames at the Rhydon, torching
it. Mr. Mime ran back out onto the arena.
"Doubleslap."
Mr. Mime slapped Munchie several times.
"(DIE!)" shouted Munchie, and jumped on the surprised mime, biting and
scratching.
"MIME!!!! (HELP!!!!)" screamed Mr. Mime, trying to get the homicidal pink
Pokémon off itself.
"Return." Said Sabrina, bringing it back before the crazed Clefairy could
do anymore damage. "Go Alakazam."
"Alakazam!" said the mustached Pokémon. It looked over at Munchie.
"Munchie, use Body Slam!"
The Clefairy slammed into the bigger Pokemon. Munchie had a slightly
better attack stat than other Clefairy, not by much, but Alakazam have such
low defense it still sent it flying back.
it said. It used Psychic, beating Munchie in one hit.
"Oh no! Return!" said Kasai, recalling it. "Okay, now I choose.
Frankenduck!"
screamed Frankenduck.
"Go on, Frankie!" said Kasai, shoving the Golduck onto the arena.
said Frankenduck.
The other Alakazam looked at him strangely.
The Pokemon's jaw dropped.
said
Frankenduck.
"Alright Frankie, use Disable!"
"Alakazam, Kinesis."
Frankenduck concentrated, trying to freeze the other Pokémon. Alakazam
raised one of its spoons up and it bent, and somehow lowered Frankenduck's
accuracy.
"Psychic attack." Said Sabrina.
"Frankie, use Mega Punch!" said Kasai.
The Golduck body also had better attack, and the attack brought Alakazam to
less than half its health.
"Recover."
said Frankenduck. He tried using Mega
Punch again, but the Alakazam used Teleport, avoiding it. It reappeared
behind him, and used Psychic, lifting him into the air. Frankenduck
countered with his own Psychic attack, and they canceled each other out.
"Frankie, try-"
shouted Frankie. He tried using Mega Punch, but
missed. The Alakazam hit him with Kinesis again.
"Use Disable!" shouted Kasai.
Frankenduck scowled at him. He tried using Mega Punch, but
again missed. Sabrina's Alakazam used Psychic, sending him crashing into
the ceiling. In the Golduck body, he didn't have his resistance to Psychic
attacks, either. He fell to the ground, attempted to get back up, and
fainted.
"I win." Said Sabrina, smiling evilly.
Sabrina and a disappointed Kasai recalled their Pokémon.
"(I can't believe we lost.)" said Chimera sadly.
"Cheer up, we can get Munchie and Frankie healed up, then we can come back
and try again!" said Kasai in his eternal optimism.
"Hmmm, that is a problem." said Kasai.
"I might be able to help." said Sabrina. They all turned to her. "I don't
normally do nice things for people, but I feel sorry for you guys."
"What are you going to do?"
Sabrina sighed. "I don't particularly like the police around here.
They've been bugging me about certain things I've done in the past. So what
if I turned people into dolls, or switched their minds or whatever." she
muttered. "But anyway, I can get them off your backs."
"Really?!" asked Kasai. "Thank you so much! How can I ever repay you?"
"Well. just come back and battle me again tomorrow."
"It's a deal!"
TBC.
It'd be REAL nice if there was anyone in Saffron my chars could interact
with...
