Dan snuck through the halls of a small TR base. All of his Pokemon had been
sent to their Pokeballs. Clefairy had been sent off to Pallet. He wanted
nothing to be able to endanger his mission.
"This place is impossible to get around," he said to himself. "I wish I had
brought a map..."
TR members were all over the base. Dan had to be extra careful not to alert
any of them...no easy task.
"I need to find a report on Pokemon transports...unfortunately, I have no
idea where that would be," Dan whispered. Suddenly, he noticed something on the
wall.
"A map!" Dan said, being careful not to be too loud. "Let's see...this is
the area where members' quarters are located. I need to get to the office
areas...." He took out a small notebook and made a quick sketch.
"Now...the office areas are north, then up a floor. Time to go."
Dan headed through the hallways going north, still taking care to avoid
Rockets along the way. Then he came to the stairway. It would be especially
tough to avoid anyone there. If he ran into a Rocket there, it would be all
over.
"I wish I had brought that disguise with me," he said as he started up the
stairs.
At the top of the stairs, Dan heard footsteps from the hallway. Someone was
coming!
"Oh great....I got this far..."
He quickly pressed himself against the wall as the door opened. The Rocket
that was coming through didn't notice him....
Dan quickly slipped through the door as it closed. Safe, for now...
"Now, to find...uh...something..." he said as he walked toward another door.
He looked through the window and saw an almost empty room. One Rocket was in
there, and he was approaching the door.
Dan gasped and pressed himself against the wall again. Luckily, the open
door shielded him from sight, and the Rocket walked down the hall. As soon as
the coast was clear, Dan headed through the door.
"I hope there's something I can use in here," he said as he looked at the
rows of tables. On one of the tables was a stack of papers and folders. One
folder in particular got his attention: "Pokemon Inventory and Transport
Information."
"Now, this one looks pretty interesting," Dan said as he opened up the
folder. He went through several pages labeled 'Incoming Pokemon' without
finding any mention of the contest. Finally he found a whole set of pages about
the contest inventory.
"All right, here we go," he said, looking at the list. "Nope...nope...that's
not it...ah, here they are! These have to be my Pokemon! Now, let's see...they
were received about two days after the contest...pending transport to Cinnabar
installation....they're leaving today! I have to get to the helipad!"
Dan put the folder down and turned around. He noticed an alert light
flashing on a communication device. He thought about activating it for a
minute...and then started to walk toward it. His finger was about to push the
activation button when something hit him. He then turned off the video
transmission function and activated the device.
"Hello?" a voice crackled. "This is the Cinnabar installation! We're having
big problems here!"
"What kind of problems?" Dan asked.
"The volcano is going to erupt! We need to get everyone off, and we need
your help!"
"I'll...uh..." He noticed another button on the device. "I'll transfer you
to the main communications room." He pushed the 'Transfer' button and ran from
the room.
Dan ran to the stairway and flew down it. He ran down the halls as fast as
he could to the helipad area, knowing that once the message was received in the
main comms room, more Rockets would be heading that way as well, and he knew
he'd probably get caught when that happened.
He ran out of the door to the helipad area. Several helicopters were here,
but presently only one was running...the one containing Pokemon to be
transported to Cinnabar. Dan knew that more of these would be running after the
message spread, and snuck on the one active copter. Inside were sacks filled
with Pokeballs. There was no time to search for his Pokemon now...that was
confirmed by the announcements being given throughout the base.
"Attention! Attention! Emergency on Cinnabar! Rockets, report to the
helipad immediately for instructions! Ready all helicopters for transport to
Cinnabar Island!"
Dan quickly hid behind a few crates in the back of the helicopter and
watched through a window as the Rockets started entering the area. A few
climbed onto the helicopter he was in.
"Copter A4 ready for takeoff!" one said, and closed the door. The helicopter
started to rise into the air.
"The Cinnabar volcano's erupting...now this I have to see..." Dan said.
