"There it is, Bulletwing. Land, right there!" Procyon pointed to a small
building in Pewter City with a sign in front that said "Pokemon Center".
"Doduuuu!"
"Yeah, I know you're tired, but don't worry. You're doing great, especially
for something with no wings! Just give me a gentle landing there, and then you
can enjoy a nice stay in Nurse Joy's revitalization room."
As bird and rider approached the ground at speeds Procyon was not at all sure
were safe, with no sign of slowing down, he felt compelled to exclaim, "Hey,
Bulletwing... I said gentle.... GENTLE LANDING!!"
"Duo do?"
"Um... good point, I guess you can't really slow down much if you don't have
any wings. Um... well, this is going to hurt."
CRASH!!
"Ugh..." Procyon got to his feet uncertainly. "Ow." He put a hand to his
head, and commented, "No really, ow. Let's... um... try and work on your
flying skills, ok Bulletwing?"
The bird sweatdropped. "Dododo..."
"Yeah, not really your fault I guess. Return..." Pokeball in hand, Procyon
staggered into the Pokecenter. Walking up to the counter, he managed a smile
at the Joy there. "Hello. I have a Doduo and a Chansey that could use a
little healing, if you don't mind."
"Certainly. That'll be $20, please."
"$20?! You charge money here?"
"Of course! What do you think I'm going to do, put them in a little machine
that cures them automatically, and then just smile and say ‘Your Pokemon are
fighting fit, we hope to see you again' without ever a mention of payment? You
live in a dream world or something?"
"Er..." He hesitated uncertainly, then reached for his wallet, mumbling
something about how the Fuchsia Joy never charged him for anything. "Here."
He handed her the two Pokeballs, as well as a 20 dollar bill.
She grinned at him. "Actually, it is free. I just wanted to see how many
people would do it. Hehe.."
Mumbling something unprintable, Procyon stumbled over to a chair in the
waiting room to, well, wait. "Ow," he said. "Mental note. Landing lessons
for Bulletwing..."
Suddenly his attention flashed to something in the corner of his eye. Once he
saw what it was he was up instantly. "A Sandshrew!!"
The Sandshrew's trainer looked in the direction of Procyon's voice. "What do
you want with my Sandshrew?"
"I can't believe it, a Sandshrew! Those are only available in the Blue
version!!"
"What are you talking about?"
"Um.... never mind. Look, would you mind if I wrote a Pokedex entry for your
Sandshrew? Well not really a Pokedex entry exactly, it's a revised Pokedex I'm
working on and it's called a Pro-dex and I'm trying to write an entry for all
151 Pokemon and yours would be a great start and hi my name is Procyon by the
way so would you mind if I took a look at your Sandshrew for just a moment
please?"
"Uh...."
"Really? Great!" Procyon took this as an affirmative and jumped over to the
Sandshrew. "Now, let's see... Sandshrew... lives in a dry climate... rather
dry skin also... loyal and affectionate... definitely of the Ground type...
probably evolves into Sandslash... hm... most likely herbivorous... hates
water.... ok, all done! Thanks a lot, Mister... what did you say your name
was?"
"Taron."
"Right. Taron. Great." He paused, suddenly aware that he was in a rather
awkward position. "So, um... how's life going for you Taron? Are you a
trainer too?"
