Now they're back at Surge's gym for a rematch with the electric trainer who beat Ember when they last met. _______________________________________________________ "Right then. One on one match. Electabuzz, go!" The monstrous Electabuzz appeared on the floor. Ember needed no prompting to take her position. "Electabuzz, thunder!" "Ember, you know what to do!" She certainly did, Mandy thought. With a vehemence that Mandy would never have expected, she ran over and brought a harder-than-diamond hoof on the Electabuzz's foot. The Electabuzz couldn't manage the attack, hopping on it's uninjured foot. It roared in pain, it's fur bristling with unreleased electricity. "Shake it off! Just try a thunderbolt!" The Electabuzz held his hands together and a streak of lightning formed. Like the Zeus of myth he threw the bolt, striking it's target on the upraised hoof. Most of the shock was absorbed by it, Ember was able to fire off an ember attack at the still smoldering fists. Once again the Electabuzz roared, but rather than striking back he turned to his trainer. "All right, I give," sighed the trainer as he recalled his pokemon. "That was a good match." He walked across the floor and handed her a small roll of bills. "Do you want me to get you in to challenge Surge now?" He indicated the line that was forming. "It'll take you hours to get in there. This happens every time the S.S. Anne's in port. There are some really good, serious trainers in there, but they get choked out by the ones who don't really care." "Hmm. Well, I've got to go back to the ship and get the rest of my pokemon first. Ember wanted to come here alone to well...get revenge, I guess." Mandy absently smoothed her hair. "We'll be back soon." "Okay. I'll try to get you in then." He stuck out his hand. "By the way, I'm Dave. Dave Hibson." Mandy shook it. "Miranda Rose. Call me Mandy. I'll see you later." "When you come back, find me.
