From: Marco262 (marco262@yahoo.com) Subject: [PW!] Something Shady (and not the song) Newsgroups: alt.games.nintendo.pokemon Date: 2000/06/27 Darian's eyes widened as he surveyed the wreckage about him. From where he was standing, in an alleyway between the semi-demolished Pokémon Center and a grocery store, Celadon city held an uncanny resemblance to New York City after the aliens demolished it in ID4. Or was it LA? Or both. Ignoring the overwhelming feeling of flying-sickness in his stomach, Darian shook his head and turned to where Ćther was lying panting on the ground. The Fearow had been out of practice for a while, and carrying a passenger from city to city was a lot more work than he had remembered. Darian knelt next to Ćther and lifted his head carefully. Pardus looked up at Darian from his place at Ćther's side and meowed softly, a worried look creasing his feline face. Darian shook his head again. "No, he's just tired. We should still get him to a Pokémon center" He looked up at the wreckage in front of him. "I hope this one's still operational." Recalling Ćther to his pokéball, Darian ran around to the front of the Center. Pardus sprinted behind him trying to keep up. Darian ran up its steps, taking them two at a time. A voice from behind him made him stop in his tracks. "Nothing's working in there." Darian used the leftover energy from his sprint and spun on his heel. A few steps down, a girl sat on the Center's steps. Facing her was a Marowak. They both looked up at him curiously. Darian walked down the steps until he was standing at eye level with the girl. "Are there any temporary healing booths set up?" he inquired. "No," said the girl shaking her head. "It's still too soon and no one has been able to get anything organized yet." Darian sat down on a step. Ćther would do fine just resting in his pokéball. Then a thought crossed his mind. He looked up at the girl inquisitively. "You mean this just happened recently? No disaster this big could go without news coverage, and I didn't know anything about it until I got here. What could devastate a city so quickly?" Before she could respond, they were interupted by a boy who walked up to the girl. Completely ignoring Darian, he quietly greeted the girl. Even though a bit unnerved by the boy's strange behavior, Darian sat back against the steps. He would wait until he was introduced, and until then, he would be content to just sit back and listen to the conversation. Maybe he would learn what had happened to Celadon City. TBC...
