[PW!] Something Tasty This Way Comes
Recap: Dante arrived on Cinnabar Island, only to find it near-eruption and
seeing refugees swimming for Cinnabar. He assisted two Nurse Joys and a
Charmeleon in transporting several Charmander eggs safely off the island. He is
now flying off, searching for a place to go.
OOC: I've finally realized that in regular PW, we can use Future stuff.
Perfect, I can finally incorporate new moves which I've been waiting for for
so long. I think I'll hold back on overusing new Pokes…I have to get used to
them first.
OOC2: Zep, it'll go quicker now. ?:D
------
Dante flew silenty on, moving north. His plan had worked, and he felt
especially relieved. Dante was successful in saving sixty Charmander eggs from
certain destruction, and he was flying north.
"Hooooot!"
Suddenly, Dante spotted a flock of Hoothoot flying toward him. He looked at
them quizically.
"What…are these Pokemon? I believe I've seen them but once. Still, they
appear to be worthy of eating.…they shall make a fine meal." Dante dove
toward the unsuspecting Hoothoot, and inhaled deeply.
He roared, and from his mouth came a huge burst of fire, in the shape of a Dai.
The Dai-shaped blast moved steadily toward the Hoohoot, and struck. Several
were charred instantly, and they broke formation, then flew in all directions.
Dante, pleased with the results, swooped at them like a huge hawk-bat, picking
out the disoriented ones.
To his surprise, they were agile, and he was able to catch but one. He held the
struggling owl in his talons, and bit it in half, splitting it in twain and
splattering guts over his face. He licked his lips.
"Mmm…crunchy." He swooped down to the water, and picked up the roasted and
charred ones that had fallen. He would have quite a feast.
------
Dante flew over several islands, and saw a particularly large one underneath
him; it was heavily forested, and had quite a large beach.
He decided to stop and look around.
He landed on the ivory-white sand. There appeared to be several Mankey swinging
from the trees, and a few Oddish nestled in the sand. Bulbasaur dashed into the
forest upon seeing him. He hunkered down on the ground, and roasted the
Hoothoot with his tail-flame, until they reached a nice, black crisp.
"Mmm…even crunchier…" He finished his large meal, and then decided to walk
around the beach, seeing what he could find. His keen nose sniffed the air, in
search of something even tastier than the Hoothoot. His tail swished the sand
behind him, feeling for something in the ground. He smelled something very,
very, sweet, and whirled around to see.
Apparently, it was an Oddish, its leaves only visible, as it was buried in the
sand. It was using Sweet Scent - its unique pheromones supposed to attract
Pokémon. Dante roughly yanked the Oddish from its sandy home. "Odd oddish!" it
yelped, wanting to know what the meaning of this was. He plucked off one of its
leaves, much to its chagrin, and licked it, expecting a sugar and honey like
taste.
He was mistaken.
"Uck! What is this vile liquid?!" Dante spit and sputtered while the Oddish
chuckled. The pheromones that the Oddish used to attract Pokemon and potential
mates had a different effect of Dante: a hallucinogenic one. He felt dizzy.
"Hmm…" he licked it once more, and had a spurt of euphoria, and his eyes
zoned out of focus ala Homer and the licking frogs. Dante's head was spinning,
and the Oddish continued chuckling. It toddled away, but Dante's fit grew
stronger, and spun around, drunkenly. "Odd…ISH! Odd!" Dante nearly squashed
the Oddish. He shook his head violently, and regained control. "That
was…interesting." He saw the Oddish, sweatdropping at his face, backing
slowly away. His eyes narrowed. He tailwhipped it into the horizon.
He muttered and walked around to the other side of the island.
Some time later, he reached the other side - a large river fed from the forest
into the ocean, and Dante followed it into the forest. He heard a deep roar
come from inside the forest. He walked in deeper, careful of avoiding certain
death from the river.
The river mouth widened as he walked deeper into the forest, and when he
reached the center, he found a huge circle-shaped pool, which was around twenty
feet deep. And by the riverbank, he saw a mud mound.
He sniffed deeply. "It's a…nest." His mouth watered at thought of the
basketball-sized eggs. He thought of running over and eating them now, but he
had better sense than that. The rumbling continued.
Dante looked frantically for cover, and flew to the top of a tree, controlling
his tail-flame so that it would not burn. The rumbling grew ever louder.
From the forest, came a young cow-looking Pokemon: a Miltank. The bulky cow
mooed happily, and plodded toward the river pool side. It trotted toward the
river, and bent its head to have a drink.
The rumbling grew louder. Suddenly, a dark shape arose from the water pool. The
cow merely mooed and looked around, to see any oncoming danger. To it, there
was none. Cows like it lived only on grassy fields, and most danger came from
the land, not the water.
Unfortunately for it, this was not the case.
"Groooooooaarrrr!"
Dante turned, and behind him, the dark shape erupted from the water.
Fast as lighting, the shape exploded from the water and latched its jaw and
claws on the Miltank's thigh. It was knocked back, and the Feraligatr had to
struggle with its weight.
It mooed and thrashed, and tried to stand upright and Stomp the shape with its
hooves, but to no avail. The shape came into sight. It was huge, seven feet
tall and eight feet long, crocodilian and light blue. It had red fins running
on its back and had a fiery expression on its face.
It was a Feraligatr.
Dante watched on silently as the Feraligatr dragged the cow from the bank into
the water. It struggled with the huge Pokemon, and it latched onto its neck
like a clamp and began to death roll like a turbine. The cow was slowly dragged
into the water, while it futilely dug its hooves into the earth. The Feraligatr
death rolled and ripped off chunks of meat and skin, which it promptly
swallowed. It dragged the carcass to the bottom of the pool.
It roared loudly, and swam back to the bottom.
Dante was utterly speechless - there was no way he would be able to defeat such
a monster, even though he would not admit it. Aside from the blood in the
water, there was no indication that it had ever been there at all.
"I _can't_ beat it head on, but maybe I can get it and the eggs another way,"
he thought.
He sniffed the air deeply, and caught a nearby scent. There was a bulb
protruding from the mud near the pool. Like the Oddish, he ripped it out, and
out popped a Bulbasaur, which was trying to absorb the water-rich soil. There
were many other Bulbasaurs in the mud near the pool, and it was using Sweet
Scent to attract a potential mate - Dante caught the smell.
"Bullllllbaaaaaa!" it screamed, and it tried to run away, but Dante held it
tight in his talons. Grimly, he twisted its spine, and with an wet crack, it
fell silent. He ripped open the bulb, and within it was a budding plant, which
was emanating the Scent.
He found another Bulbasaur, and repeated the process. He squeezed both plants
so that it would produce more Scent. He took one of the bulbs, and squeezed it
over nearby plants, spreading the pheromones onto them. He walked further
outside the forest, where the bulb ran out. He deposited the body there. He
took the other one, and flew back to the tree.
"All right," he thought, "If that stuff is supposed to attract mates - when I
licked it, it was disgusting, but it made me feel…funny. I think it only
works on Pokemon of the same species that they want to mate with - it should
have the same effect on the Feraligatr as me.
He pitched the Bulbasaur into the pool. The Feraligatr leaped out of the pool,
and consumed it in a single bite. Upon swallowing, it had a sort of hazy-eyed
expression on its face. It sniffed the air, and marched off to where it smelled
of scent.
Dante, sure it was gone, ran over to the mound, and dug it open. His eyes
glistened as he uncovered the treasure - six basketball-sized eggs. He was able
to grasp only five at a time, but he wrapped his tail around the sixth. He than
ran like hell outside of the forest, toward the other side of island.
-------
He huddled down on the sand, and cracked open the last egg. He ate the rich
yolk and the budding Totodile that lay within. He sucked it dry, and patted his
stomach. He burped loudly. Eggshells lay strewn on the beach.
"I believe it's time to get out of here." Dante spread his wings wide, and was
about to take off, until…
"GROOOOOOOOOARRRRRRRR!" the Feraligatr tracked him from his scent when he
picked up the eggs. It burst through the trees like a runaway train, knocking
over several. It narrowed its eyes, and then broke into a run not unlike that
of a tyrannosaurus rex. The hallucinogenic effects of the scent had apparently
worn off upon finding its babies gone.
Dante flapped his wings, and took off into the air, albeit slowly, because of
his huge meal. It got close enough to snap at him, and launched a powerful
Water Gun attack, which he barely evaded.
Dante looked over his shoulder, and then took a deep breath. He launched a Fire
Blast at its eyes, blinding it with searing heat. It clutched its eyes in pain
and thrashed around madly.
"GROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOARRRRRR!" it bellowed loudly as it "saw" Dante take
off, toward Celadon.
