While the twin Marias were on stage, Minax had been trying to think of some way to escape from her captor. She couldn?t tell if the black robed figure that held her had actually shifted his attention away from her. Between his grip not loosening and no face being visible beneath the hood, much less a pair of eyes, there was nothing to show whether or not his focus had shifted during the whole time. Without knowing where his attention lied, she decide it was best not to go for the one weapon she had concealed. Knowing that she couldn?t shout for help and expect any aid after what she had just done, this was how Minax spent several uncomfortable minutes. Things changed when the hood of the robe pushed back by itself to reveal no head concealed beneath. This left her less than a second to figure out where the real head was before a giant reptilian skull started to emerge from the top of the robe. As the skull pushed out it could be seen to be attached to a proportionately humongous spinal column. As the spine continued to push out a set of skeletal wings and arms unfurled from it. The spine lowered and curled around behind Minax, reminding her of Splash?s Onix, which had been wrapped around her not too long ago. She turned her head to see what it was doing behind her and came face- to-face with the skull. The skull itself was taller than she was and in a deep, rumbling voice said "Boo!" Minax didn?t even twitch, but there was a small part of her deep down that was relieved that Omelette wasn?t scared because the Chansey wasn?t angled well enough to see what was happening. Quickly pushing that small part aside she told the skull before her "You?ll have to do alot better than that cheap trick to scare me." Drake grunted then replied "Keep acting so tough, you?ll need it where you?re going. "Whatever." Minax turned her head away again to punctuate her unconcerned tone. This was exactly the reaction that Drake was hoping for. He quickly uncoiled the large skeletal part of his body and turned to meet the twin Marias as they emerged from the backstage area. Both of the twins took an involuntary step backward when the giant skull nearly instantaneously appeared in front of them. "Aerie, you were wrong," the skull whispered out to the pair "those self- righteous super-hero lines weren?t any fun at all." The twins sweatdropped and recognition set in. Aerie quickly responded "You need to learn how to really get into it. Trying loosening up a bit more, run with it." "If you can do it, then good for you. Why don?t you try it out where I am? I need to get up there in case my turn comes up anyway, so you?re going to have to take things for me." "Okay, we?ll be there in a sec." With that, the massive skeletal form quickly retreated., leaving Aerie with her hand on her chin and a mischievous grin to show what she was concentrating on. The other member of the pair spoke up "Mimic still not think this is great idea. Could still be dangerous." Aerie removed the hand from her chin and snapped her fingers. "Jennys!" and one of the Marias became an Officer Jenny. "C?mon, this is perfect!" The other "Maria" shrugged and said "Ok." Before becoming a twin of the Officer Jenny next to her. Just before the skeleton finished retracting, Minax moved her arm back into position. "Only a few more seconds would have been enough?" she thought. It was only a few more seconds after the hood had moved back into place until Drake?s voice came from it again. "I have some other business to take care of, but I?m sure these two officers will be happy to attend to you." The robed form was quickly flanked by a pair of Jennys, one of which told Drake "We?ll take it from here, go ahead and enjoy yourself." The transformed Dragonite left the scene and quickly made his way backstage. He came back just in time to see another contestant coming off stage with her Marowak in tow. The pokemon had "Louisville Slugger" written on its bone and was dressed in a baseball uniform. As the contestant walked off the stage, the announcer spoke over the cheers from the crowd. "That was the lovely Linda, whom I hope knows that I would be her ball-boy anytime!" A couple of hoots and some laughter came from the crowd. Slate seemed to squint a bit more, if that were really possible, as he looked at the information for the next contestant to announce. "Up next we have something a bit different. It looks like there?s not going to be any bikini on this next contestant." With that comment the new nosebleed section started to get several more people in it. "It?s not that," Slate made sure to mention when he saw this "The next contestant doesn?t have a trainer and is just entering the contest as a costumed pokemon, so come on out Drake!" The nosebleed section quickly lost the newer members as they moved back from the stage. After this a hooded black robe seemingly hovered down the stage. No folds of the robe appeared to be swept forward by feet pushing from beneath it. None of the frayed strips of cloth that hung from it swayed to indicate a normal gait. It stopped less than a dozen feet from the edge of the stage. The sleeves of the robe moved up to the hood and seemed to take hold without showing any hands. The hood was pulled back to reveal a Dragonite?s head underneath. It smiled out to the audience and simply said "Hello." The audience appeared underwhelmed at this point. A few hecklers could be made out at this point. One could be heard shouting "More skin!" Drake?s smile disappeared and he raised his voice to make sure he could be heard. "Sorry, you?re about to see a whole lot less skin." The Dragonite?s head disappeared into the robe and the giant reptilian skull pushed it?s way out. It rose into the air on top of the massive spinal column and the skeletal wings and arms spread out from it. A huge shadow was cast over the audience and all of the hecklers were now silent, except for a lone "Whoa." Unfortunately for Slate, the closest look he would get at a contestant while he was announcing happened now. The giant skeleton turned and leaned over to him. The massive skull stopped within a foot of his desk and told him "Just to let you know, this is not an illusion made by some Psychic pokemon." Drake proved his point by tapping a single skeletal finger on Slate?s shoulder. Rising up again, the giant skeleton bowed then retracted into the robe. Once the hood was back up, Drake made his way to the backstage area. "If Stevon Schpeilbunk had special effects like that in his films, I?d probably watch a few of them." The crowd showed their agreement with Slate by belting out some "Yeah!"s along with the cheers. "It?s another tough act to follow, but we?ve got more contestants which are sure to make us happy by giving it a try!" <TBC?> Jeff Hauser* *Sig Sold Seperately
