The Big Plan
"Look, it'll be all right."
Bellatrix muttered something unintelligible.
"I mean it. We're going to get her back," Ronan said.
"You're DAMN RIGHT we're going to get her back!!" exclaimed Bellatrix. "There
is NO WAY I'm going to let them get away with this! I'll find her if I have
to..." He trailed off, smashing his fist into his hand.
Ronan sighed. He was somewhat startled by the unusual outburst, but not
particularly surprised. He knew how he would feel if someone had taken *his*
fiancee, and it wouldn't be pretty. But something had to be done, and this
wasn't helping.
"So what are we going to do, exactly?"
"We're going to get her back! Whoever took her is going to have to-"
Ronan interrupted his friend. "And who kidnapped her, exactly? Hm?"
"I don't know, it could've-"
"Where is she?"
"She could be anywhere, but-"
"How do you plan to get her?"
"I'm not sure, but-"
"Do you even have the faintest idea how to go about finding her?"
"NO!" He turned, annoyed. "Do you?!"
Finally. A triumphant smile appeared on Ronan's face. "Yes."
*That* got his attention.
Bellatrix sighed. "Ok. I'm sorry for going off like that." A brief pause.
"So what've you got?"
Ronan handed him a photograph, which he inspected curiously. "Robert Hussix,"
he was informed.
Bellatrix nodded. "Yeah, I've heard of him. He's a big crime lord
in...Celadon, I think. Almost as big as Giovanni, and covers his tracks a lot
better." He put the picture back on the table. "So he's our kidnapper?"
"Looks that way. As far as I can tell, he snatched her and took her to his
mansion in Celadon City. He'll probably keep her a few days to get you fired
up, and then demand a ransom. But with any luck, we'll be able to get to her
before coming up with the money becomes a problem."
As he pondered this, a thought came to Bellatrix. "How did you come into
possession of all this information, exactly? Or do I even want to know?"
Ronan laughed. "Nice weather we're having, isn't it?"
A smile. "Thought so." He picked up the photograph again. "So. What's our
plan, exactly?"
"Well, basically he's got her locked in a room at the top of his mansion. The
room is guarded by hired hands with machine guns. Before you can get to the
room, you have to get past a maze of corridors with infrared sensors and camera
monitoring equipment. And that's *after* you get into the house - to even open
the doors you have to enter a fifteen-digit passcode, and to get to the door
you have to bypass about ten squads of trained attack Houndours. That's
assuming, of course, that you can climb over the spike fence - which is a lot
easier if you can turn off the electric current running through it. But then,
that'll be a simpler once you actually get *on* the property. The whole
thing's patrolled by his personal security cars." He paused thoughtfully.
Bellatrix sweatdropped. "Er - how much was that ransom again?"
"Oh, don't give me that. We're going to rescue her, remember?"
"Er - 'we'? I'm not so sure about this 'we' stuff right about now.."
"C'mon. It's not as bad as it sounds. You know the old saying, right? About
the easiest way into an armed fortress?"
"An A-bomb?"
"Besides that." He grinned. "The easiest way into an armed fortress is to be
invited. So we get invited. No sweat."
"Invited? What, we're hoping he has a tea party and an incredible urge for
visitors?"
Ronan shook his head. "You'll never get into a James Bond movie at this rate.
Look, getting an invitation from Robert Hussix is the easy part." He waved a
white envelope labeled "Invitation" for Bellatrix to see. "That is, as long as
*he* doesn't find out."
Bellatrix shook his head. "Lemme get this straight. My fiancee was kidnapped
by a the lord of a multimillion-dollar criminal enterprise. So instead of
paying her ransom, we're going to break her out of his ultra-secure mansion in
Celadon City. We do this by getting invited with an invitation we didn't get.
We get past the guards who will no doubt be watching us, evade the infrared
sensors, make it to her room, get *out* of the mansion - without being caught -
and make an escape in our getaway car, assuming it's actually still there and
they haven't destroyed it to prevent our getaway. Which will almost certainly
happen." He looked back to Ronan. "This is our master plan?"
"Well, that would be the oversimplified version, but yeah, that's basically
it."
Bellatrix shook his head. "We're screwed."
Ronan slapped him on the back. "That's the spirit!"
