Clefairy! Clefairy! Clefairy! I got out of bed and turned off my Clefairy
shaped alarm clock. I had wanted to make sure I woke up early. I hadn't needed
the alarm, I'd been up for a while now. I couldn't sleep, I was too excited.
Today is my tenth birthday. Today I will finally be able to start my Pokémon
journey.
I got out of bed and went to find my brother. I found him asleep in the middle
of the hallway. He had probably just fallen asleep a few hours ago, but he
said he would come with me to get my license. "Willis, Willis," I said gently
shaking him. "Come on wake up, I want to get there early," I said shaking him
harder.
"Okay I'll get up," Willis moaned groggily.
I walked into the kitchen to get something to eat. I walked over to the
cabinet. I got a package of cherry Pop Tarts out, then I sat down at the table
to eat. Sestica walked over to me and brushed against my legs. "Hi, Sestica,"
I said.
"Vul," she responded as I lovingly scratched her behind her purple ears.
"Are you ready to start our journey?" I asked Sestica.
"Vulpix," Sestica responded enthusiastically.
I walked over to the refrigerator and poured my self a glass of milk and some
more milk in a bowl for Sestica. "Here you go," I said placing the bowl on the
floor. Sestica started drinking her milk and I finished my breakfast.
I walked back into the living room to find Willis still asleep on the couch. I
finally got him up. Willis got ready. I already was. I had gotten dressed a
couple of hours when I couldn't get to sleep. I got my backpack and checked to
make sure everything was there. Pokémon food, human food, clothes, toiletries,
some money, other stuff that I needed, and Sestica's Pokéball. Sestica hadn't
been in her Pokéball the whole time I had her. There had been no need to. She
would probably not even use it. "Are you ready Willis?" I yelled.
"Yeah," he called back. Finally, now we could go get my license and start on
the journey.
The three of us, Willis, Sestica, and I, soon arrived at the Viridian City
Pokémon License Registration office right as they were opening. This is were
people can come to register to be an official Pokémon trainer. They also offer
many courses on Pokémon and how to catch, care, battle, and breed them. I had
taken a couple of courses here, but I preferred learning about Pokémon my own
ways. I went up to the desk and told the receptionist my name and asked for my
License.
"Let's see," she said looking through her filing cabinet, "Ah, here you are
Lela. Here's your license with your trainer I.D. number. Don't lose it. You may
be required to show it at any League sponsored event. Additionally here are a
few flyers and brochures about Pokémon and Pokémon events."
"Thank you," I said taking all the stuff she was handing me. The three of us
then left. We walked back home to get all of our stuff and say bye to Mom and
Dad.
After we got ready to go we went to Mom and Dad who were waiting at the door to
say good-bye. I hugged my Mom and Dad and said bye. Willis said good-bye too.
My parents then surprised me with ten custom Pokéballs. They were a deep, rich
red both top and bottom, a white button, and the letter "L" above the button.
They also gave me a Pokédex made by a family friend. Shorter than the standard,
but a little wider. The same red as my Pokéballs with a gold Pokémon League "L"
in the center. The cover opens horizontally with the right half going to the
that side and the left half to its side.
"We got these specially made for you. In celebration of your tenth birthday and
the start of your journey," they told me.
"Thank you," I said hugging them each again. With that Willis and I left
waving good-bye with Sestica following at my heels.
Now having my license, Pokéballs, and Pokédex I was eager to make my first wild
catch. "Well were would you like to head to try and make your first wild
catch?" Willis asked me.
"Let's go to Route 1," I declared. We walked south for only a few minutes until
we arrived in some tall grass. We walked around until I saw a Pidgey. I pointed
my Pokédex at it. The computerized voice began talking, "Pidgey, the tiny bird
Pokémon. Is often seen in forests. It kicks up dirt to blind its enemies." "All
right, Pidgey your mine. Go, Sestica!" I yelled enthusiastically.
Sestica ran out crying, "Vul!" The Pidgey turned to see Sestica right in front
of it. "Sestica, use your quick attack now!" I called out. Sestica ran towards
the Pidgey and knocked it down. The Pidgey flapped its wings using its gust
attack, but it did little damage to Sestica. Pidgey appeared weak so I threw my
Pokéball,
"Pokéball, go!" It grabbed Pidgey shook a little then stopped. I ran over and
grabbed it, "Willis, did you see that I made my first wild catch!" I said
happily. "Good job let's take it to the Pokécenter and get healed."
We started toward the center when Willis asked me something, "Why did you catch
Pidgey I thought you were mainly interested in the really cute ones."
"I am, but I decided I needed something to start out with so I can catch all
the really cute ones. Besides there aren't many really cute ones around here
and I wanted to have another Pokémon other than Sestica."
"Vulpix?" Sestica asked as if to say 'why am I not good enough?'.
"Sestica, I need more than one Pokémon,"
"After we visit the Pokécenter I think we should head north through the
Viridian Forest. Is that OK with you?" Willis asked me.
"Sure, let's make out to Viridian Forest."
