By Ramen Junkie Jacob peeked out from behind a tree and looked down the path. Across from him on the other side of the path Jigglypuff did the same. "I think we finally lost that Mankey thing, it sure could run though," Hunter said to Jigglypuff, who nodded back. "Well at least we can relax for a while I guess, you're not tired are you?" Jigglypuff shook its head, whole body really, no. "Let's get a move on then." Jacob turned and headed off in the direction he had been going only to shop short after a few steps. "Hey, looks like a building up ahead, almost looks like a Pokémon center, but out in the middle of nowhere? Hmm maybe someone in there can help me figure out how to catch a Pokémon, since you weren't much help back there against that Mankey Jiggs, no offence or anything." He continued onward to the Pokémon center. The building was right at the base of Mt. Moon, in fact the entrance was visible behind the Center. The pair entered the Center to find someone who looked like they could help. Unfortunately it was empty for the most part. Jacob walked up to Nurse Joy at the service desk. "Let's see if the nurse over there knows anything about catching good Pokémon," Jacob said to Jigglypuff. "Did you say good Pokémon?" interrupted a short bald man who had been sitting by the door. "Yeah, you know where I could get some, and how to catch them?" "Why this is your lucky day sir, why catch one when you could much more easily buy one?" asked the man. "Buy one huh? I suppose you are up to sell one or something." "Of course, but I can't just part with this beauty for nothing you know." "Gee, how convenient, don't try to con me, I can smell a rat a mile away," said Jacob bluntly. "Oh, no, you see, I don't train Pokémon myself, but I... caught this one while fishing, and recognized it as a powerful creature indeed. You see this Pokémon is magic!" "Hmm... Magic huh? That sounds good, how do you know it's Magic though if you don't train Pokémon?" asked Jacob, suspicious of the man. "I told, you, I recognized it, it's a Magikarp, all fishermen know about water Pokémon types." "Wait, it's a fish? What good is that? I can't use it on land." "That's part of the magic! It can fly!" "Hmm, so how much is this Magikarp?" "Well, these are hard to come by, I couldn't let it go for less than, oh, say 5000." The man was overjoyed at having found a person so ignorant of Pokémon types and could hardly contain his excitement of the sale. "5000, I think I could probably catch one cheaper than that, I don't need a super Pokémon or anything," relied Jacob, he knew how to hustle a hustler. "Well, how about 3000? I don't think I can go much lower." "Make it 2500 and you got a deal," said Jacob, pulling out a wad of cash. "Deal!" the man grabbed the cash and tossed Jacob the Magikarp's Pokeball. "Pleasure doing business with you!" The man started out the door, eager to get away before his buyer realized he was being ripped off. "Sure thing," said Jacob, but the door had already closed and the man was outside and out of earshot. Both the man and Jacob however said the same thing, "Sucker." "Alright, let's get on through Mt. Moon," ordered Jacob to Jigglypuff, as he too started for the door. They were soon on their way through the Mt. Moon tunnel to Cerulean City. TBC later.. -- Ramen Junkie
