"Hurry up, hurry up!" Robert hurriedly tried to usher all the pokemon into their
places at the door. "Music! Don't we need music? Gengar, stand here next to
Haunter at the door--no wait, the groom is up at the altar first isn't he?
Aaaahhh, Rilli, help me!"
Mithril-rama looked about helplessly at the small pandemonium. "I don't know, I
don't remember anything about weddings! Uh..." Deciding that organization
helps more than nothing, she managed to herd all of the pokemon who are not
taking part in the wedding into seats. That left only Golem, Clefable, and the
ghosts. "Is that all? Seems like there would be more... don't we have a ring
bearer?"
"Ring bearer? We don't even have a ring!" Robert began to panic. That is,
even more than he already is. "Where are we going to get a ring at this hour?
Where are we going to get a ring that'll fit Haunter's fingers?" He was cut off
by a small SNAP as the egg cracked some more. "Oh no, there's no time!"
"We'll just have to do without rings!" Rilli quickly amended as she ran over to
Vileplume. After a few words between them, the giant flower hopped up somewhat
shakily and waddled to the door. She began to jump and twirl, doing a Petal
Dance down the aisle and scattering pink cherry blossoms until she reached the
altar and toppled over from dizziness and her heavy head. Next, Rilli urged the
Best Pokemon and Bridesmaid down the aisle. Hand in hand, Golem and Clefable
followed the red carpet up to the altar, then seperated and stood to the two
sides. Finally, Robert and Rilli accompanied Gengar to the altar, where Mr.
Fuji was ready and waiting to perform the ceremony.
Spontaneously, Clefable opened her mouth and began to Sing. Rilli freaked out
and whirled to stop her, but then realized that the song wasn't putting anyone
to sleep. Instead, it was a sweet, clear rendition of "Here Comes the Bride".
Taking her cue, Haunter gracefully floated down the aisle. Instead of a
bouquet, she carried her wobbling egg in her hands. The music ended just as she
reached the altar and carefully set it down beside her. It twitched and another
crack appeared on the surface. Robert eyed it nervously and mouthed "Hurry up!"
to Mr. Fuji.
"We are gathered here today to join these two pokemon in holy matrimony--" Mr.
Fuji began.
Rilli gulped as a tiny piece of the shell flaked off the egg.
"If anyone has objections as to why this couple shall not be wed, speak now or
forever hold your peace..."
In one of the back rows, Electabuzz held up a peace sign and was immediately
smacked by Golduck.
"Do you, Gengar, take this ghost to be your lawfully wedded wife, for richer or
poorer, in sickness and in health..."
Robert wandered if ghosts could get sick at all.
"Gengar!" the male ghost quickly affirmed his vows and looked over to his bride.
"Do you, Haunter, take this ghost to be your lawfully wedded husband..."
The egg started to bounce in its place on the table. The shell was covered in
deep cracks and is turning into formless gas at certain parts.
"Haunter!" Everyone's eyes darted to the egg in concern, which seemed ready to
burst.
"I now pronounce you husband and wife youmaykissthebride!" Mr. Fuji finished the
wedding vows in a hurry as Haunter and Gengar met in a slobbery kiss. At that
instant, the egg's shell disintegrated in a shower of gas molecules, and a tiny
ghost grinned up at its parents. "Gastly!" it yawned.
Rilli cheered. "It's a...!" She peered at the newborn ball of gas. "How... do
you tell male ghosts from females anyway?"
"Gengar gen gengar!" Gengar exclaimed as his brand-new wife rocked his equally
brand-new offspring in her arms. "Gengar says it's a boy..." Robert translated.
"Must be a ghost thing," he shrugged. "It's a boy!"
Everyone cheered, and those who were able to applauded. Victreebel and
Vileplume sprayed cloudes of harmless pollen into the air, and they rained down
around the ghost family as they headed out the door. Rilli sneezed as she and
Robert followed the spirits outside. "We should get you to a Pokemon Center for
a checkup. Are you coming, Robert?"
"One of us should probably stay behind and help Mr. Fuji clean up..." Robert
glanced behind him at the flower petal-covered floor of Pokemon Tower and
winced. "Or maybe I can just tell our pokemon to help. You go ahead, Rilli,
I'll meet you there in a little while!"
"Sorry to leave you with all the work," the girl smiled apologetically, then ran
off after Haunter and Gengar towards the small town's lone Pokemon Center.
