Tenchi was late. Very late.
Light poured into Natasha's cabin as dawn broke. She stretched,
yawning, and opened her eyes.
And quickly closed them, shielding her face from the rays streaming
onto it. Cringing, she leapt from her bed and stapled a small pillow
over the now uncovered porthole. One of the light blocking books had
come unglued and allowed the sun to rudely awaken her at the ungodly
hour. Sort of.
"Six thirty?" She asked quietly. "Tenchi went out at midnight! Lousy
bum probably passed out in the bar again."
She quickly put on a T-shirt, jeans, and sunglasses before stepping out
of her room. Rapidly building her annoyance into harsh anger, she
entered the bar.
Nobody was there. The now confused girl dashed out onto the deck of the
Anne.
Not 30 feet in front of her was a massive group of people gathered in a
circle around something -- but it didn't take Natasha long to guess
what. Blood was splattered on the walls, and there were deep gashes in
the wooden floorboards.
Shaking slightly, she tried to push through the mob to see the main
attraction. Being much shorter than most, however, she couldn't even
look around their shoulders. With an annoyed growl, she managed to get
one middle-aged woman's attention, and asked what had happened in a
forced calm voice.
The lady shifted her flower print dress and answered, "Some Trehnt
Rent-wen and his Sandslaysh killed a fellow... oh, what was his name?
Ten-chai Reverse or something like that. Took out all his Pokemon,
too. Dang shame, if ya ask me. Seemed like a nice man."
Natasha nodded softly and silently retreated into her cabin. She felt
there was something she had to do, but it would need to wait for the
night. Ignoring her hunger, she fell back onto the bed and considered.
Tenchi was late. Very late.
