He did not know the way, s he made due by following a human riding a Pidgeot. OOC: This is set a bit in the past, before it erupted, for continunity reasons…there's nothing wrong with that, is there? OOC Zephyr: <SECRET PHRASE> ------- Dante flew with haste, as the speedy Pidgeot had kept up a fast clip since he had tailed them from Celadon. He had only time enough to grab a Spearow in mid-air a few hours ago for lunch; he hoped they would reach the island soon. The human and Winger, the Pidgeot flew unknown to his presence. The human still babbled on…and on. "…and when I get my ten Pokérescue points I'm going to buy a scooter and take Amy out for that date I've been planning!" They passed over the much smaller Seafoam, where Dante could see people and Pokémon unloading goods and others waiting at dockside for their loved ones. He could see rising smoke coming over the horizon, and he could smell the sulphur even at that altitude. Dante peered down into the water, where he saw many a Pokémon and human on refugee boats, swimming for Seafoam Island…on many of them, Charmander, Charmeleon, and a few Charizard, much to his relief. He trimmed his wings, and dove toward the island shore, out of sight and out of mind of the bird and human pair that he followed. "A pity," he thought, "for such a tasty-looking Pidgeot to go to waste." ------- The shore was full of refugees lugging their possessions to their pérsonal transports or the large evac boats that the Pokémon League had donated to them. Several Magnemites with cameras strapped onto them floated about, catching images of the fleeing people. They kept a good clip, trying to keep up with the human conmmentators. Dante flew over to what he recognized as a "Pokémon Center" and began to search. He saw a couple Nurse Joys and a Charmeleon lugging eggs by hand to the shore, which was six hundred yards away. "They'll never be able to carry all the eggs to safety," he thought, "I pray that they're of my kind, at least." Dante beat his wings, and glided over to the Center. Their backs were turned, and they didn't notice his landing. "All the other Pokémon are evacuated! Time to move the eggs!" The other Joy hopped into a nearby green pickup truck, and tried to start the engine. "Oh no! The engine shorted out. We'll have to carry them on foot." The Charmeleon and the other Joy sighed deeply, but started to scoop eggs into their arms. "It'll take ten trips, but we can make it!" "Let's g-" Nurse Joy stared blankly at the impromptu appearance of a six foot, red and black, firebreathing Charizard with scarred scales looming in front of her. The other Joy stared blankly as well, sweatdropping. "I have not the hunger or the inclination to eat these fine eggs." The lead Joy stood dumbfounded. "Y-you speak English?" Joy said, much to Dante's chagrin. He simply ignored her. He spoke to Charmeleon. " "How many eggs are there?" asked Dante in their tongue. "Fifty, perhaps sixty." Dante could hold perhaps ten at a time in his arms, but he did not have the time to make six trips. Then An idea struck him. "Your vehicle is inoperable?" "Yeah. The rainstorm a few nights ago must've shorted out the engine. It's electric powered, y'know…" "Electric powered?" a grin grew on Dante's face. "Wait here." He flew off, and went toward where the camera-Magnemite were hovering around. One hovered higher into the air to get an aerial view. Dante trimmed his wings and dove toward the unsuspecting Magnemite. He roared loudly, and grabbed at it with his talons. "Magne-MITE!" it shocked Dante with a powerful Thunderbolt, but he saw the two magnets swinging at the sides. He grabbed each magnet, and brought his tail close to it. The magnets melted, and it was immobilized. It was still sparking. Its single screw rotated at a rapid pace, and its lone eye seemed to scowl at him. He flew over to another Magnemite, with the other in talon, and dove. ------ Dante repeated the process several times. An hour later, he returned to the Pokécenter, bearing five KO'd Magnemite. The Nurse Joys looked oddly at him. Dante walked silently over to the truck. "Where is the powering compartment?" She walked over and flipped open the top. She pointed at a white oblong box with several cylinders. Dante took a Magnemite, and brought it close. It squeezed its magnets, and it gave a huge electric shock to the engine - and Dante. Dante tossed the Magnemite skyward, where it hovered off to a camera station, cursing in binary code. "1001010101001..." it muttered. He took another one and repeated the process. "1001010101010110!" it shocked Dante hard, and he ended up with a charred face. He coughed out some smoke. Luckily for him, these were low-level Magnemite. "Your engine should be operable now." A Joy jumped in the seat and gunned it. It rumbled, and then miraculously, roared with new life. The other Joy and the Charmeleon began loading the eggs in the truck. Dante scooped up armloads, and within a few minutes, the truck was fully loaded. "Thanks a lot, Charizard!" Dante scowled at her. "My name is Dante." "Ok, 'Dante', here's something from us to you. Blaine gave us a couple of these." She tossed Dante a black, oblong box with a small button on the top. He caught it. "What is it?" "Press the button and you'll find out! Let's go everybody!" Charmeleon on the other Joy hopped in the back ala the Dukes of Hazzard and they drove off, waving. Charmeleon gave Dante a solemn bow as they drove away. Dante took the box in his talons, examining it closely. He tapped the small button on the top. The machine whirred, and then clicked open. A small voice emanated from it. "Salutations. This is designated Technical Machine number 38," it said mechanically, similarly to a Pokédex droning. "One Pokémon within range. Do you want it to learn TM 'Fire Blast'? Press button once if yes, twice if no." Dante tapped the button twice. It whirred again. The box shot an intense beam of light directly into Dante's face. He shielded his face with his hands, dropping the box. He grunted in pain and rubbed his eyes. "…Congratulations! Pokemon: Charizard has learned 'Fire Blast'! Its current moves are: Slash, Earthquake, Fireblast, and Flamethrower. Thankyou." The box switched off. Dante picked it up, and tossed it over his shoulder into a nearby trash can. "Ugh, technology." He spread his wings wide and flew off, wondering where he would go next. TBC.
