CHARACTER: Willis
LAST TIME: while hiking through the Viridian Forest my sister and I found a
whole bunch of Caterpie. Maybe she didn't find them cute enough, but I was
catching one. As Blade riled them up I watched on, when one brave little
Caterpie fought back against Blade. Impressed with the little guy's cunning
and courage I caught him. Later when we set up camp for the night I talked
with my new Pokémon and named him Scriggles. After Lela turned in for the
night I decided to spend the next several hours playing mini-games on my
laptop. Getting bored I decided to spend the final hour till sunrise play
demon killer with blade, but as we fought in our mock battle I heard laughter,
but who could it be?
I stopped and turned to see some older kid holding a bottle and smoking a
cigarette, "And praytell who are you jolly sir?" I asked, still in character.
"That's priceless, I just love watching people making total fools of
themselves," he said contiuning to laugh stopping only for a moment as he took
a drink form his beer bottle.
I spun my sword once and thrust it's motion towards my other hand that I held
at my side, collapsing the blade and hooking the handle to my belt in a single
motion, "Glad you find it so entertaining, I guess now my work in life is
complete," I said with sarcasm, but it was clearly lost on him as he just kept
laughing to himself. "Anyway like I asked before, just who are you, and don't
you think your a little young to have such nasty habits."
This caught the guy's attention "&*$% you, I'm plenty old enough and my habits
are my business anyway. And if you really must know who I am then all you need
to know is that I'm the greatest trainer in all of Pewter City, even the Gym
Leader Brock cowers at my feet!" he took another drink and then continued
laughing.
Now I had battled at the Pewter City Gym and I somewhat doubted that Brock
would cower to this guy. Anyway the sun was coming up and Lela would be waking
up soon and I didn't feal like hanging around this guy any longer, "Come on
Blade let's get back to camp."
As I leaned down to give Blade a scratch on the head before leaving the guy
seemed to finally notice my Pokémon, "Wow a white Raticate! I haven't seen
anything like that since got rid of my old Rattata," something about that made
Blade cringe for a moment.
Blade was a Rattata when I found him all beat up, could this guy... "You used
to have a white Rattata. What happened to it?"
"Not that's any of your business but yeah, when I first saw it I thought it
looked cool, but then all my friends teased me about how puny and small it was
so I finally ended up releasing the thing. But the stupid little runt just
kept following me back home every night. I finally had to beat the &*$%'n thing
half to death to convince it that it wasn't wanted," with that the trainer
started laughing like what he had just said was funny.
That was awful how could this guy treat his actions as if they were all some
big joke, "And you still call yourself a train after trying to kill a Pokémon
who just wanted to be your friend!" Despite my outburst the guy kept chuckling
to himself. I was furious and I could tell by Blade's aggressive stance that
he was to, but anger wasn't going to solve any thing. So I took a moment to
calm my temper as best I could, "Well at least I owe you some thanks, if it
weren't for your cruelty and irresponsibility I would have never found my best
friend and strongest Pokémon."
Suddenly the guy stooped his chuckling and stared at me shortly, then darting
his eyes towards blade then back to me, "Holy shit, you mean that's my runt!
Wow, I'd always figured it died or something." The guy then resumed a light
chuckle as he finished talking, "Well, well, it looks like the little runt
evolved into a big runt."
This guy was really asking for it, I was ready to explode, but no, he shouldn't
get off that easy. Still though it was all I could do to hold myself from
wanting to personally pound this guys attitude out of him, but I managed to
contain my rage and channeled the burning flame of my temper, channeled it to a
cold and calculating desire to teach this guy a lesson. "You know, I could call
you a big jerk and a lousy trainer, but I'm not since that would be an insult
to all big jerks and lousy trainers every were."
The guy stooped laughing and was clearly enraged buy my words. "Why you little
&*$%'n brat! You have some nerve to insult my training skills, at least I know
not to waste my time training shit-ass weak Pokémon!"
Good, now that I had him angry it was time to start the lesson. "Well then,
shall we find out just who the better trainer is?" I said as I held up my hand
tightly grasping Blade's empty Pokéball in it.
The guy laughed, "A battle? Against you? Sure. But if that runt is really your
best Pokémon then you'll lose hard and fast. And just to make sure I choose
GRAVELER, GO!" the guy threw out his Pokéball and in a flash of light it
released a Graveler. "You better have something better then just that Raticate
if you want to even come close to competing with my Graveler."
"Blade is more then capable of pulverizing that big boulder into little
pebbles." Blade rushed forward ready to fight.
"Graveler, crush that runt with your Takedown attack," the Graveler jumped high
into the air ready to crush Blade beneath him but Blade's way to quick to be
caught by such a sloppily executed attack and so he was easily able to dodge to
the side before the Graveler impacted. "Don't let that runt make a &*$%'n fool
out of me, crush him with your Rock Throw attack now!"
As the Graveler lifted a huge rock from the ground I called to Blade, "You know
how to handle big lugs like this, dive under!"
The Graveler hurled the rock at blade but blade dug down into the ground
leaving it to impact harmlessly. "That cowardly runt can't escape, my
Graveler'll crush it as soon as it comes up."
"Just wait and we'll see who gets crushed," and right then Blade burst from the
ground cracking the earth around him and half burying the Graveler with a
powerful rolling mound of dirt. "Good work blade, that Graveler can't take much
more of that."
"You little shit, you won't hurt my Graveler again once it Hardens its defense
to its maximum." The Graveler then crossed its arms and began to shine like
metal as he increased his already rock hard defense.
"We'll just see about that, Blade, Focus Energy." Blade began to glow as he
readied for his next attack.
"Go ahead and try to attack but nothing will hurt my Graveler, keep Hardening."
The Graveler's metallic sheen increased as it became even harder
Big mistake, he should have taken the opening to attack, well now he'll learn
better. "Blade, now! Hyper Beam!" the glowing energy that Blade had focused now
condensed, forming a ball of energy at his mouth as he opened it wide, and then
in one thrust he shot forward a might blast of raw energy.
Graveler stood his ground trying to absorb the impact, "That's it Graveler
maximum Hardness," shouted it's trainer, and for just a moment it looked like
it might, but then, CRACK, the Graveler was sent flying back as its defense
shattered against Blade's critical hit. "That's impossible!", the guy shouted
as his Graveler lay unconscious at his feet. "No &*$%'n way can a &*$%'n normal
type beat a rock type! You're a &*$%'n little cheater!" he screamed.
"It's not cheating, your just a sore loser as well as a poor trainer." I said
adding a chuckle to the end of my words.
"I'll show you, you little &*$%!" he shouted as he through four Pokéballs. In
a flash four Pokémon appeared, Nidorino, Nidorina, Kingler, and Machoke.
"Like I said, a sore loser, but if that's your game then let's have at it. Go
Loopy, Go Screwy, and let's not forget Scriggles, Go!" my three other Pokémon
all materialized ready to go. "These guys shouldn't be much problem, Blade,
you've got command, make me proud."
Blade turned his head to Loopy and Screwy, "Cate, rat rat cate ratica rat!"
with that Loopy and Screwy went to fight Nidorina and Nidorino. Blade then
turned to Scriggles, "Raticate, icate rati?" Scriggles nodded and then wriggled
over to Blade who lowered his head. Scriggles leaned half his body over
Blade's head and with a quick flip Blade tossed Scriggles gently onto his back.
Now with Scriggles mounted on his back Blade turned and charged Machoke. Blade
dove between Machoke's legs leaving the fighting Pokémon momentarily confused.
When Machoke leaned its head between its legs to see were they went Scriggles
sitting by a hole in the ground, but not for long as Scriggles quickly blasted
it in the eyes with a String Shot. As Machoke staggered around blind Blade
popped out of the ground striking Machoke with his attack.
Blade then tossed Scriggles onto his back again and charged at Kingler. He
made a wide circle around the crab, and Scriggles fired a String Shot at one of
Kingler's back legs. Blade then started darting in and out between Kingler's
as Scriggles continued firing his String Shot, and then finally with the string
wrapped and tangled around all of Kingler's legs Scriggles and Blade gave one
big tug and pulled all of its legs out from under it. The water Pokémon
struggled to get back to its feet but was having trouble untangling its legs.
Meanwhile, Loopy had just been knocked into a tree by Nidorino, who was about
to charge her again. As he bared down on Loopy he was smashed in the side by
Screwy's Take Down attack and knocked away. Loopy started to thank her rescuer
when suddenly she jumped over his head and smashed into Nidorina, who was
trying to attack Screwy from behind. Loopy then hit the disoriented Nidorina
with a second Take Down attack knocking her to the ground. Loopy and Screwy
didn't have long to celebrate, though, Machoke had the string out of its eyes,
was back on its feet, and mad as could be.
It began to steam as it Focused the Energy of its Rage. He lunged at Loopy and
Screwy but they dodged aside narrowly evading its vicious attack. As it turned
its Eyes still red with Rage it saw all four of my Pokémon standing together.
Blade shouted out orders and Loopy and Screwy both nodded, simultaneously hit
Machoke with double Take Down attacks and then each rolled away to either side.
Machoke staggered but stood its ground as its Rage grew. It charged at Blade,
bad choice, right before it reached him Blade let loose with a Hyper Beam at
nearly point blank range. Machoke was sent flying and smashed trough a tree.
It struggled to get back up, breathing heavily. It got to one knee the looked
at the enemy in front of it with intense Rage. The Pokémon it saw was my
Scriggles who promptly smashed it full in the chest with a Tackle attack, it
wasn't much but it was enough and Machoke fell to the ground completely KO'd.
"What the &*$%!" shouted my opponent, "This is &*$%'n crazy, I'm getting the
hell out of here!" He turned to run, apparently ready to leave all his Pokémon
behind, but he didn't get far before Scriggles fired a Sting Shot at his feet
causing him to trip and fall face first in the mud.
I laughed as all my Pokémon came back over to me. "You all did great," I
congratulated. Then I noticed that Loopy and Screwy were exhausted, "You two
had better get back to your Pokéballs and rest." After recalling them I looked
to Scriggles, "Well you don't look nearly as tired but don't think you didn't
help, I couldn't have won this one without you," Scriggles was very pleased and
danced around happily as I called him back to his Pokéball. "As for you Blade
you made a great leader, I'm very proud of you."
"Cate rati!" he answered back with a modest enthusiasm.
"So let's head back to camp," Blade came and walked by my feet as we returned
to camp leaving his defeated and humiliated former trainer were he belonged, in
the mud.
When we got back to camp Lela was already eating breakfast, "Hey were have you
been?"
"Oh just teaching a lesson to a bad memory of Blade's," I answered. Then Blade
and I looked at each other and laughed a little.
Lela stared at us for a momment but then went back to her food not caring to
discuss the matter further.
After breakfast we packed up camp and continued our hike through the forest.
By midafternoon we were out of the forest and I told Lela it was her turn to
chose were to go next. Either follow the road north to Pewter or take the
underground tunnel to Vermilion, either way she could try and challenge the
local Gym Leader for a badge.
Lela stood for many moments pondering that.
