From: Mushboom (garrett.green@home.com) Subject: [PW!] And it begins... Newsgroups: alt.games.nintendo.pokemon Date: 2001-08-01 19:58:09 PST [OOC: If you haven't guessed, yes I am gonna try my hand at PW! again... but if it doesn't work out, I'll at least make the death cool O_o] A tan humvee with military markings pulled up to the Pokemon Center and cut its loud, diesel engine. Inside the truck, General Green turned to his son in the passenger seat and said, "Are you sure you want to do this?" "Yes, dad," Kalem sighed. "You know you can always just come back to base with me and continue training. Two more years and you can join up for real," Kalem's dad persisted. "I know, I know," Kalem continued before his father could speak up again, "yes, I have my Pokegear so I can always call you if something comes up." "Fine, if you think it's for the best," General Green paused while he fully absorbed the fact his son was leaving home for quite a while, "you should go". He shook his son's hand and saluted, Kalem saluted back and hopped out of the humvee. As Kalem walked towards the pokecenter, his dad's voiced called from the humvee, "Wait! Take this!" Kalem turned and snagged the pokeball lobbed towards him. He read the markings on the red and white ball and smiled as his father sped away, leaving only a cloud of dust. Before he entered the Pokecenter, Kalem turned and took a deep breath of fresh air and exhaled with a sigh. "Finally, on my own," he muttered to himself as he took in his surroundings, "so this is Violet City, eh?" Kalem turned and strolled through the Pokecenter's doors and up to the counter where an attractive nurse smiled and said, "Good morning, how may I help you today?" "Well there's lots of ways you could help me," Kalem said as suavely as he could. "Like how?" the nurse asked happily. Kalem facefaulted and tried to recover, "Um... I need uh... directions to the uh... place with the um..." "Directions? Well you came to the right place," the nurse interrupted, "we just got a new shipment of map cards for pokegears. You do have a pokegear, right?" "Um... yeah, sure," Kalem stammered, getting out his pokegear and laying it on the counter. "Very good," the nurse smiled again as she reached under the counter and pulled out a small screwdriver and a circuit board. She unscrewed a pair of tiny screws on the side of Kalem's pokegear, took off the cover, and slid in the circuit board, screwing the port closed afterwards. "There you go, now you just press this button," she motioned towards the map button, " and you can get directions to wherever you want." "Uh... thanks, Nurse..." Kalem trailed off. "Joy, Nurse Joy. It was no problem, have a nice day! If your pokemon ever get hurt, just bring them by and I'll take care of them," she called after him as Kalem walked back out of the Pokecenter. Kalem shrugged and pocketed his pokegear, "I guess I'll just take a look around, maybe I can find the gym and get me a badge." TBC...? -Mushboom
