> Sarah stands in silence for a while, thinking about Robert's final
> comments, then looks down at the Mareep at her side, "Barbie, do you
> have any idea what a website is? Or an e-mail for that matter?" After
> Barbie shakes her head, Sarah shrugs and heads over to the Dance
> Theater's entrance to put her sandals back on.
Sarah heads out of the Dance Theater, and heads back towards the Pokemon
Center to think about her next course of action. When she arrives, Nurse Joy
is not standing behind her desk like she's accustomed to. What she does see
however, is a Chansey behind the desk and a Girafarig in front of it it a belt
around its neck. Sarah moves slowly toward the dedk to see if Nurse Joy's
busy and ends up overhearing the conversation in the back room.
"I got good news Bob, and I've got bad news." Nurse Joy said in her usual tone.
"The good news?" Bob asked.
"After a good night's rest, Zapper's going to be just fine."
"The bad news?" Bob asked with a puzzled look.
"You're about to learn Razor Leaf." she replied.
Bob's jaw dropped in typical cartoon fashion.
"Based on what I've seen with other grass pokemon that know Razor Leaf, and
the way they look, your leaves look about ready to perform Razor Leaf." the nurse
explained, trying to soften the blow.
Bob smacks his forhead, and shakes his head. "I am not having a good week.
What's next?"
"Reflect, Stun Spore, Sleep Powder, who knows? You'll find out when the time
comes." Nurse Joy said with a chuckle, on her way back to the desk in the front part
of the Pokemon Center. There she finds Sarah standing at the desk, waiting
patiently.
"Excuse me, but wh-where is the Gym?" Sarah asked in her usual timid fashion.
"Straight down the street, you can't miss it." Nurse Joy replied, quite
cheerfully.
Just as Sarah turns around, Bob walks out of the back room of the Pokemon
Center, pulling his shirt sleeves down, with his Mareep, Zapper, following close
behind."One thing, the Gym leader's name is Morty and he uses ghost pokemon,
so the best advice I could offer is not to use a psychic pokemon. Oh yeah, and I
did some reading, and the Teddiursa you have should know Scratch, Leer, and
Metal Claw."
"Th-thanks Bob. I h-have to get going now." With that, Sarah heads out of the
Pokemon Center, herding her nervous Mareep behind her. Her destination is the
Ecruteak Gym, with a renewed hopes of winning a Fog Badge.
Back at the Pokemon Center, Bob has just put his belt with his pokeballs back on,
when a new face enters the doors of the Pokemon Center. It was a young man, and he
had quite a pleased look on his face. He gets up to the desk and puts his two
pokeballs
on the desk and asks Nurse Joy to heal them. After Nurse Joy retreats to the back
room,
the young man notices the bizarre pokemon by the desk. The then turns to the only
other soul in the Pokemon Center, Bob.
"Yo kid, what's your name?" the man asks, still interested in the pokemon.
"Bob, what's yours?"
"Name's Robert, leader of the Diversity Gym in Lavender town, and I couldn't help
but notice the pokemon by the desk. Is he yours?"
"Sure is. His name's Raffy, a Girafarig. The only breed of psychic pokemon that
is immune to ghost attacks." Bob said.
"Wow, I've never seen one before. But how can you be sure he's immune
to ghost attacks?" Robert asked, stroking his chin.
Bob tries to look deep in thought. "First, Girafarig are classified as half
Normal and half Psychic type, making it immune in theory. Plus if Morty
couldn't touch it with his Gengar's Shadow Ball, them, there won't be many
other ghost attacks that can touch it."
"Fascinating." Robert says as he scans the Girafarig into his Pokepedia.
Bob notices what Robert is doing and warns him. "Don't take the moves that it
has as fact. It's been bred to have certain moves that it can't otherwise learn."
"Fascinating." Robert says, eying up the Girafarig.
<> Raffy projects to Bob, trying to get Robert away from him.
"You know, if you're trying to collect information on all the pokemon numbered
over 151, then you should probably check out the Day Care Center south of here,
near a place called Goldenrod City. They usually have a great variety of pokemon
and pokemon eggs. There's also a Gym in Goldenrod City, led by a young lady
named Whitney. My parents would probably be more than happy to help." Bob
says, distracting Robert from the Girafarig. Meanwhile, Raffy breathes a sigh of
relief.
"Hey thanks. Morty said something about a steel bird along Route 36, south of
here, so if I keep going, I'll reach this Goldenrod place." Robert asks.
"Yep. One more thing, Whitney isn't the pushover she looks. She may specialize
in using Normal type pokemon, but her trademark pokemon, her Miltank, will whoop
you if you're not careful." Bob says, recalling Zapper, his Mareep into the pokeball
before Robert notices it's there.
"I'll keep that in mind, as soon as you tell me what a Miltank is." Robert says.
"Sorry, you're not from around here. I forgot. Miltank is a cow pokemon, the
female version of Tauros." Bob explains.
Nurse Joy comes out of her back room with Robert's two pokeballs. Robert picks
upthe pokeballs, and turns around ready to leave.
"What pokemon are in those?" Bob asks, pointing to the two pokeballs.
"Oh, not much, just a Farfetch'd and a Horsea. I'm trying to get them more
experience so they'll evolve. I heard that Horsea will eventually evolve into a
Dragon-type." Robert says, with the usual trainer's pride.
"You're about 3/4 right. Horsea's final form is named Kingdra. To evolve it,
you will need to trade it off as a Seadra, while it's holding a Dragon Scale..." Bob
explains to the young Gym Leader. Bob starts burrowing into his bookbag, and
pulls out his toolkit. Rifling through it, he finds a Dragon Scale that he just
talked
about, and holds it up. "... like this. But I don't really need this one, so you can
have it if you want it."
"Thanks Bob, but I don't really have anything to offer in return." Robert says,
dissappointed.
"How about a picture of the newly evolved Kingdra." Bob says.
"OK then, you twisted my arm. I'll take it." Robert says, taking the Scale.
Robert loks at his pokegear's clock and realizing the time, bolts out of the Pokemon
Center.
<> Raffy asks, just standing there.
"Well Raffy, I thought I'd just sit in the sunlight, and wait for Sarah to come
back
with good news." Bob said, smiling and stretching.
<>
"As long as she tries her best, it will always be good news."
