>"Maybe, but we're already here at the gym," Yolei said. "I've got him on
>radar, so finding him again couldn't be too hard. Maybe we should challenge
>Bugsy first?"
H, the shiny Unown, decided that it should release the field that it had
placed around the building. The physical illness that had begun to
afflict one of the beings inside was gone now. Several days of not
being able to interact with those that were included in the field had
finally caused it to die off. H could do nothing for the other
discomforts.
For some reason that it could not understand, H observed beings going in
and out of all the buildings in this area, except the one that it had
kept in stasis for the past few days. It decided to keep observing to
see if this pattern continued for a few days after it stopped
maintaining the field.
Inside the gym, despite being animate again, no one was moving much. To
them, no time had passed, and they still contemplated the same things
that they had before.
Lynkeru was about to make a response when a beeping started coming from
the device on Yolei's wrist. "What now?" Mamoru inquired as everyone's
attention was drawn by the incessant noise.
Yolei quickly consulted the device and a puzzled expression appeared on
her face. "I'm not sure. It's giving an error. The Unown it was
tracking disappeared, but it says there's one above us."
"Teleportation?" Drake suggested.
Yolei shook her head. "It's not among the abilities that Unown are
supposed to possess."
"Maybe they're called Unown with good reason." Lynkeru noted with an
expression that showed she felt she was pointing out something obvious
to someone who couldn't see it.
Ignoring what Lynkeru had just said in favor of something that might
move things in a more productive direction, Mamoru said "The ones we're
tracking are different from normal Unown. Maybe they have abilities
that the normal Unown don't?"
Drake offered some support for Mamoru's idea by stating "I can think of
a certain Ditto which can Teleport even when not in a form that normally
could. This doesn't seem like too much of a stretch."
"Even if they do teleport, these signals are for two different Unown!"
Yolei protested. "It seems a little weird that one leaves at the same
time that another pops in is what I'm saying."
The others continue to discuss the situation, but Drake zones out.
Something has been tugging at the back of his mind for the past few
minutes. He now notices that there is something familiar about it.
Concentrating on it, he begins to feel where it's coming from.
In the midst of the discussion, it appears have come down to an
observation from Mamoru "Well, I can't see it. Why doesn't someone who
can fly up take a look? Indi? Drake?"
It's then that the group notices that the Dragonite hasn't been
listening to the conversation for the past few minutes and instead has
become a statue with a glassy-eyed stare.
Yolei can't reach high enough to wave her hand in front of the Dragon
pokemon's face so she instead settles on waving both arms over her head
in order to get his attention. "Uh, Drake? Hey, Drake!"
"Huh? What?" Drake blinks as he stirs and looks at Yolei.
"You looked like you had blanked out there." Mamoru told the
now-attentive Dragonite. "What happened?"
"I'm not exactly sure. Something popped up. It feels like something
I've encountered before. Like walking back into a room that you've been
in a lot before, I guess." After pausing to see that the others were
somewhere between complete confusion and some sort of understanding
Drake stated "Whatever it is, it's somewhere nearby and I can track it
down. I don't know what it is and I want to find out before it
disappears on me. I'm sure you can handle what you need to here without
me, so I'm going to check it out."
With that Drake turned and walked out of the gym. Memuyo looked between
the assembled group and Drake as he walked away, finally settling on
following the Dragonite.
"I guess that leaves us with a third option of what we could do." Yolei
shrugged.
Following a route based only on vague feelings, Drake arrived at a
familiar area of town. Still sporting a few small craters, the area
looked as if someone had done an incredible clean-up job in what seemed
to him like an hour or so.
The fact that it had been longer than that since Drake had last been out
in front of the Pokemon Center was as unknown to him as the face of more
than one person who stood there. They were engaged in conversation and
two of them were partially obscured from Drake as he approached. One of
those unfamiliar faces was the source of the sensation that he had been
following. He stopped a few feet from that person and the conversation
halted as everyone caught sight of him.
"Who are you?" Drake asked as he looked at Dee.
