"Mimic no think be valid experiment. Mimic already been Kurt, pretty sure remember how make pokeballs. But Mimic no ordinary ditto; been learning all kinds unusual tricks long time. For valid experiment, need close copy of what wish to know. Maybe try rental pokemon? Mimic be surprised if Kurt no can talk some stadium into loaning to Kurt, even if for non-battle research. That what Oak did in early years, before cared for many pokemon from trainers. In fact, if stadiums give Kurt trouble, Mimic suggest call Oak, ask how rent for research." Kurt raises an eyebrow. "You don't say. Hey, maybe Professor Oak has one he'd be willing to lend me." "Possible. Doubtful. Most Oak's pokemon on loan from trainers; need be able return when asked. But worth shot. In fact, small chance Oak even done that experiment before, or hear of being done." Not-Mazey smiles. "One secret doing research: is more about communicating results so others can use, than about doing experiments yourself - though that important too. Not for nothing say..." He switches to another voice, almost sounding like a staticy record playing deep inside his currently juvenille body. "'All progress is built on the shoulders of giants'." Kurt smiles back and shakes his head, his attention returning to his plate. "Remind me never to bet against you in a game of charades." "Ok. Kurt want Mimic remind Kurt never to-" Kurt cuts him off with a look. 'Mazey' sticks 'her' tongue out. "Mimic pretty sure Kurt no need reminder. Besides..." Mimic flips the last pancake on his plate into the air, slashes it in two with his knife, then flicks the halves with the back of knife and fork just as they start their descent, managing to land them in the yawning mouths of the two slowpokes. Kurt is not that impressed, having seen that any airborne object near a yawning slowpoke's mouth tends to be sucked in. "...Mimic want check out city. People to be, things to meet, places to do." "Hmm. Ok, but it'll delay Sarah's journey by a day." "No won't. Found this last night." Mimic hands Kurt a love ball and a note. "'Leave this on the table next Saturday night. It will fall through a stray time portal by morning. Signed, yourself.' ..." Mimic shrugs. "Looks like time not completely stable yet." "I'll say. I haven't heard of a stray portal in...well, a long time. Bill's going to want to have a look at this. I'll have to ask Oak for his phone number; I haven't seen Bill in ages." So engrossed is Kurt in pondering this that he does not see Mimic hop up, clear his and Sarah's dishes to the sink, and wave good-bye to Mazey. TBC, though probably in another thread. ^_-
