The beast roared upon hearing the command, quickly moving to do as told.
Someone else moved quicker than it, however.
"Take a nap, gruesome." Drake contemptuously commanded. The Dragonite?s eyes
glowed briefly before he fired twin beams of multi-colored energy into the
Tyranitar?s chest. It staggered against the awesome power of the blow, grasping
its chest in pain, but it didn?t fall unconscious.
Before, the Tyranitar was just going to try plowing through everyone, but it had
a target now. It made a booming "Tar!" as it stomped a foot, causing several
boulders to dislodge from the ceiling and smash into Drake, knocking him down
beneath the crushing weight.
"Oh, I forgot!" Yolei shouted over the din "Tyranitar is also a Rock-type.
Normal attacks like Hyper Beam do less damage to it. They also become a
Tyranitar at about the same level as a Dragonite evolves, so they?re pretty
powerful."
During Yolei?s dissertation, Lynkeru had put away her swords in favor of a
slingshot and Deku Nut. She loosed the shot and it hit right between the rocky
monster?s eyes. It exploded on contact, releasing a blinding flash.
"Tar!" the Dark pokemon shook it?s head in an attempt to rid itself off the
nuisance that had been visited upon it. It stomped it?s foot again, but the
spots still appearing before it?s eyes caused it to miss it?s mark and the
boulders that fell from the ceiling missed the Dragon pokemon.
"It must have been what I Mimiced the Rock Slide from then." Drake painfully
pushed aside the boulders that had hit him. "Does anyone have a pokemon with
Surf?"
The others were surprised when Mamoru?s voice came up from below. "Yeah, hold
on a sec!"
In the meantime, the Tyranitar had been hit in the face by another Deku nut. It
continued to ignore the lights dancing in front of its eyes and stomped the
ground again. The rocks falling from the ceiling almost smashed on target, but
freed from the first attack, Drake dived out of the way.
The sound of a pokeball popping open was followed by a cry of "Lapras!".
"It doesn?t matter." The Masked Rocket laughed imperiously "No would-be
champion?s low-level Lapras is going to be strong enough to take out my
Tyranitar!"
"Maybe not," Drake shot back from his prone position "but I?m not a Lapras and
I?m not low-level. Everyone, get down!"
As the Dragonite leveled an arm at the Tyranitar, the ground rumbled. Yolei,
Lynkeru, and Memuyo flattened against the floor of the cave. The Masked Rocket
gave a wide-eyed "Huh?" as a geyser of water came up through the hole that Yuki
had fallen through previously. The Rocket picked up on what was about to happen
fast enough to hit the ground as the water that was hitting the ceiling shifted
direction and came shooting through the tunnel like the ocean had just been
drained into the cavern. The Dark pokemon had been about to stomp out another
attack, but looked up just in time to see a wall of one of the deadliest
substances it knew coming straight for it. It could only squeak in fear before
it was engulfed.
When the wash had cleared, everyone was drenched. They all rose to their feet,
save one. A certain nameless Tyranitar now lay unconscious. The sharp, rocky
edges of it hide were worn smooth. Upon sighting this, a certain Rocket who
concealed his identity produced yet another pokeball and popped it open to
reveal an Alakazam.
"You may have won this time, but nothing will stop me from becoming the greatest
Rocket ever, least of all you!" Without another cliched word, The Masked Rocket
and his Alakazam disappeared amidst a flash.
"Yeah, right, wimp." Drake rumbled as he got up. He walked over to Lynkeru as
she got up and looked down at her. After standing like that for a few seconds
he muttered "Thanks." and walked over to check on Memuyo, who was howling up a
storm over being so wet.
Recognizing the pride from some people where she came from, Lynkeru only said
"You?re welcome."
Most of the water having missed her, Yolei recovered quickly enough and
carefully made her way to the hole in the floor, shouting down. "Are you
alright down there?"
"We?re fine. I got Tide back in her pokeball before the water went up out of
the pool, and Mera didn?t get wet either."
As the others joined her, Yolei asked "We thought you had gone further into the
tunnel down there. Why did you come back?"
"I had stopped because of what I saw, so it was pretty easy to hear the rumbling
and come back here." Mamoru answered.
Yolei once again queried Mamoru "What did you see that caused you to stop? A
dead end?"
"It was a dead end, but I also found a puzzle."
