The little sleep that she got, after listening to Nick and Jessie all night, was not good sleep. She kept re-running in her head, the events when Libby died. "What the hell?" D'lesse turned quickly to see her daughter standing in the middle of the street. "Libby!" She called. "Libby, come back now!" D'lesse was completely frozen. "Mummy, look!" Libby called back, as she picked up a piece of paper and waved it in the air "Libby, please!" She tried to take a step off the curb to pull her daughter back, but the ice around her feet had her stuck to the pavement "Libby!" D'lesse was crying now. She could see cars pulled up at the traffic lights further down the road, and there was no way that they would see Libby in the middle of the road "Damn you, you bastards!" D'lesse called to the 3 men, standing behind a Dumpster in the alley behind her "What did I ever do to you! You could have just asked for my bag. I would have given it to you!" "Stupid girl. They will stop for her" One of the men said. "Do you really think they would run her down?" "They can't see her." D'lesse cried. She turned back to Libby, who was looking at the pictures on the piece of paper. "Libby, baby, come back to mummy." "Mummy?" Libby said. "Why are your feet stuck?" "Don't worry about me, come over here baby." D'lesse held out her arms. Her feet were beginning to come free, and she was trying to wiggle them free. "Damned Seels and their icebeams" "Mummy come look!" Libby called. D'lesse continued to wiggle her feet free. And that is when it happened. She heard a horn. She was right They didn't see her. "LIBBY!!!!" D'lesse screamed She wasnt sure what she was going to do on this bright morning. First order of evens was to have a shower and make some coffee. There was plenty of hot water, and D'lesse must have stayed in there for a good hour of so, until there was a knock on the door. 'D'lesse, i need to use the bathroom.' Nick called. D'lesse sighed. 'Ok...' She wrapped herself in a towel, and exited the bathroom. She had to re-boil the water for the coffee, but that was no hassle. At least she didnt use the purculator, and the coffee was cold. After a change of clothes, she walked outside and sat on the porch in the sun. At least her car was still there. She was considering leaving Nick and Jessie to get on with things by themselves, but she couldn't. She was alone when she gave birth to Libby, and didnt have the heart to leave them. 'I must be getting soft in my old age.' She said to herself. 'What was that?' Nick asked, taking a seat beside her. 'Nothing.' She replied, taking a sip from her coffee, and lighting up a cigarette. 'I just didnt sleep very well last night.' Nick put a hand on her shoulder. 'Thankyou for everything.' He said. 'if it wasnt for you coming along, I dont know what would have happened.' D'lesse smiled. 'It's ok. I couldnt exactly leave you both there. i understand what it's like when you have no-one to help.' There was silence for a little bit. until D'lesse spoke again. 'When i had Libby, all I had was a cardboard box, and a drunken whore to deliver her.' Nick swallowed hard. 'I'm sorry.' He said. 'It's cool. It was my own fault. Too much drugs, no support from anyone, even the shelters.' D'lesse was trying to hold back the tears. 'Where's Libby now?' Nick asked. D'lesse turned and looked at him. 'She got hit by a car, and died.' 'oh.' Nick didnt know what to say. 'I-uh...' 'Nick, it's ok. Really.' D'lesse told him. 'It's something I've had to get used to. And it fucking hurts like hell. but there's nothing I can do about it.' D'lesse stood up. And then the baby started to cry. 'I better go.' Nick said. 'Bring him down here. Some fresh air will do him good.' D'lesse said. Moments later, Nick returned with a crying baby in his arms. 'I really dont know what to do.' He told her. 'Give him to me.' D'lesse replied. She held the baby close to her chest and rocked him slowly. The baby stopped crying and fell back asleep. 'A mothers touch huh.' Nick said, touching the baby's head. D'lesse smiled, and a lonley tear ran down her cheek. 'I miss Libby so much.' She said. 'It just- i dont know.' And there was silence again. Niether Nick, or D'lesse knew what to say. D'lesse was crying, and remembering what it was like to hold Libby in her arms for the first time. 'You better take him back, Nick.' She said. Nick understood, and took his son. 'We've named him.' 'Oh?' D'lesse asked, wiping away the tears. 'Yeah, Michael Sacco.' 'Cool.' 'Michael Angelo Sacco.' D'lesse laughed. 'That's a pretty cool name.' Later on in the day, Jessie got out of bed for the first time since Michael was born. she was still in a little bit of pain, which was to be expected. But she was able to bring the baby downstairs, to where Nick and D'lesse were talking. Nick beamed at her and his son, as she stood in the frame of the door. 'And how are you feeling?' D'lesse asked Jessie. 'Im a little sore, and it hurts to bend over.' She said. 'My breasts are sore, and I have no energy, but other than that, I feel fine.' 'That's completly normal.' D'lesse told her. 'Come sit down with us. I need to talk to you both.' They all sat in the front room, D'lesse in front of Nick and Jessie. 'Ok, I have to go away for a few days.' D'lesse said. 'Um. ok?' 'You can both stay here if you want. There's money in my bedroom you can use, That will get you everything you need for the baby, and food for yourself.' D'lesse paused. 'Can either of you drive?' Jessie and Nick looked at each other. 'No we cant.' Ah.' D'lesse said. 'That could pose a problem. But i'm sure nothing will happen while i'm gone. I'll leave you a number where you can reach me should you need anything ok?' 'Sure' Jessie said. 'Where are you going?' Nick asked. 'I have some business to take care of.' D'lesse told them. It was the next day, and D'lesse left early in the morning. It would have been only about 6am. Both Jessie and Nick were sleeping. D'lesse hoped the roar of her Corvette starting up wouldnt wake them. But there was no turning back. D'lesse had a job to do. She was dressed entirely in black, and was in a hell bad mood. She was heading up to Rita's old place, where she knew Thaddeus, her brother, was staying. She had a 9mm Desert Eagle sitting on the passenger seat, next to her. The house was silent when she pulled up. She retrieved everything she needed from her car, and walked up to the front door. It was unlocked. She wasnt quite sure what her brother was thinking, leaving the front door unlocked. But she entered. Loaded up her gun, and walked up the stairs to Rita's bedroom, where she knew Thaddeus would be sleeping. He was a heavy sleeper, and therefore would not hear her. One shot to the head was all that was needed. But she wasnt sure if she could possibly do it. She had to take her heart out of it, and get the Job done. 'I'm sorry.' She said, as she aimed the gun at his right temple, and pulled the trigger. A curtain of blood showered the room. D'lesse collapsed on the floor. 'Oh my fucking god.' She said. 'It just killed my brother.'
