Raffy, Bob's smart-ass Girafarig, is poking fun at him. "What do you think Raffy? Like the badge we earned?" Bob said, holding the badge so the light shines on it. <<What we? I'm the one who almost got their butt kicked all because you wanted to prove something to Morty. At least I learned Crunch out of it.>> "Yeah, that was something. Besides I was right, there is at least one breed of psychic pokemon that's immune to ghost attacks." Bob remarked. He put his badge away and walked a little further down the street when he bumped into somebody. The surprise of it knocked him on his rear end while Raffy just looked down at him, slightly disgusted. <<You have GOT to stop doing that man. This chick's got a Wooper and she looks pissed of at you.>> Raffy was very right about that. Right in front of Bob was a green-haired girl wearing a black leather outfit with a Wooper staring at Bob, laughing at him. This girl had attitude to spare, and all of it bad. When Bob got up, he moticed a Mankey up on her shoulder. "Watch where you're going weakling! I'm in a good mood. Just whooped some little country girl and her pet Mareep, got my pokemon all healed up, and took her Hive Badge to boot. I'm just going back to rub her face in it some more. By the way, the name's Roxie." She said, sneering with an evil twinkle in her eye. "Well the name's Bob. By the way, that's a cute baby Mankey there. Where'd you get it?" Bob asked, having a good idea of the answer. "Stole it from the old farts at the Day Care Center. You think I'd go to all that work myself?" "Of course not. His brother is with my 'old fart' parents at the Day Care Center. I just wanted to hear it from your mouth." Bob said cooly, obviously aggravating Roxie. "I've had enough of your mouth. Let's battle and if I win, I want another pokemon egg!" Roxie demanded. "Wooper, Aquarius, Koffing, time to beat another victim!" She threw out the two pokeballs containing the other pokemon. "Fine, but if I win, I would like that Hive Badge that you took from that country girl." Bob said. He pulled out three pokeballs out of his belt. "Zapper, Bullet, and Buddy will be my three pokemon." Bob threw the pokeballs and a Mareep, a Pidgeotto, and a Ninetales came out. "Ha! You think that puny sheep can bet my Wooper?" Roxie said. "Did I just tell you that I beat the hide off a Mareep about 15 minutes ago?" "Type match-ups aren't everything. There's breeding and raising, and training." Bob replied. "Ah shut the hell up. Wooper, use Earthquake. Koffing, use Smog. And you Aquarius, Water Gun that Ninetales." Roxie ordered. "Zapper, Thunder Wave the water-types. Bullet, blow the Smog away; Buddy, Safeguard everybody." Bob said, in a definitely more pleasant tone than Roxie. Buddy's Safeguard went first. A strange mist surrounded all three of Bob's pokemon. Meanwhile, the Totodile's Water Gun attack was headed right for Buddy the Ninetales, but since Buddy is much faster, he got his move off and escaped the Water Gun with little more than a couple of wet tail tips. Roxie's Koffing started spewing out a cloud of smog, but that was quickly sent back by Bullet's wings flapping. Wooper got off part of the Earthquake attack, but was interrupted by Zapper's Thunder Wave and the cloud of smog that was being blown back at them. Roxie's Totodile got the worst of the Thunder Wave though, get paralyzed in the process. None of the six pokemon out really loked that bad yet. "And just to prove that type really *doesn't* matter. Buddy, Flamethrower that Totodile." Bob said cooly, observing Roxie's frustration. "Aquarius, don't just stand there, counter it with your Water Gun!" Roxie said. But Buddy's Flamethrower hit Roxie's Totodile just as it had recovered enough from the Thunder Wave. The flames just kept coming, and when the attack was all over, Totodile has singe marks and burn marks all over. Despite a great effort to stay upright, Totodile fainted. "Lucky shot. Koffing! Sludge attack that Ninetales." "Bullet, Wing Attack the Koffing, and don't let up." "Wooper, Earthquake!" "Buddy, Confuse Ray that Wooper" Buddy's Confuse Ray worked its magic on Wooper, and that was enough to get it to smack itself in its own confusion. Meanwhile, Bullet is getting a little tired and Koffing is getting beat around, and avoiding some attacks. The Sludge attack that was fired at Buddy was very easily avoided. "Buddy, Faint Attack the Wooper. Zapper, Thunderbolt that Koffing." Bob said calmly. "What?! They can't learn those attacks!" Roxie protested. "Wooper, use Slam. Koffing, Sludge!" "That is the power of breeding. Observe." Bob said, with a smile on his face. Buddy faded out and the next thing seen is Roxie's Wooper getting beaten around. On the other side of Wooper, Buddy fades back in again. Meanwhile, Zapper the Mareep's Thunderbolt and Koffing's Sludge attack both hit their targets. After the beating it took from Bullet, this is just too much for the Koffing to take and he faints. Koffing's sludge gets all over Zapper's fleece, rendering any attack using its fleece pretty much useless. Wooper's still smacking itself around in its confusion. "Zapper, you all right?" Bob asks. When the Mareep nods in acknowledgement, Bob give his next order to the sludge-encrusted Mareep. "Zapper, give that Wooper a Body Slam" About the time Zapper starts charging at Wooper, Roxie's Wooper recovers from it's confusion. It realizes that it's supposed to do a Slam attack and darts straight for the Mareep. Both battlers take damage, but it ends up that both pokemon faint after the attack. "Ugh, I can't believe this! Here, take that country girl's badge. I just wanted to humiliate her and I succeeded. This thing is just junk to me." Roxie snarled, tossing the badge to Bob. "The little brat is probable still crying in the Burned Tower." She walks off, her day now ruined. Bob recalls his three fighters to their pokeballs, and heads for the Burned Tower. In the darkness, Bob and Raffy here the voice of a young lady sobbing. As he follows the voice, it gets louder. When Bob actually reaches Sarah, he extends a hand to help her up, her Hive Badge in his hand. "Need a hand?" Bob asks politely. TBC ---------- Clayton
