The smeargle smiles, nodding after a few seconds...
"Than...n...!!!"
...and glowing red and growing into a giant onix, mouth open wide in
what could possibly be the same smile...
"Umm...you aren't going to eat me, are you?"
...but also misinterpreted just as easily. Sarah shrieks as the rock
snake lunges at her and Barbie. With her eyes closed, she does not
see just how the onix dives underneath her, digging a bit to catch
between her legs on one of its joints. She does know that the main
reason it did not have to move towards Barbie was that she was, and
still is, holding on to her mareep for dear life.
Looking backwards, she sees the Violet City gym shirnk as they speed
away, knowing intellectually that the sights might be a bit scarier if
she saw stuff coming at her just as fast and so staying facing
backwards on her ride.
Just as she is getting used to it, a deep voice gravels, "Wheah New
Bahhk Town?" Straining a bit, she hears a mumbled reply, then
"Thaaanks" from the same voice. Continuing to focus her hearing on
that, she does not notice the change underneath her nor the shift in
direction as travel resumes until she notices they are several meters
in the air, and the stony tail has turned reptilian and orange. The
look on the bewildered trainers' face as they pass is slightly amusing,
keeping her from being too scared until she notices they are going
faster...and faster...and faster...
Panic blots out her memories of the next several minutes, but she does
remember the crackle of electricity - in hindsight, it could only have
been Barbie, unless something attacked them - and skipping across the
water, fortunately landing in mud soft enough to absorb her momentum
without too much damage...though a nonzero amount of soreness, and
probably some pain upon impact, though the impact itself is not
remembered.
When memory resumes, she is half-covered in mud, cuddling a shaking
Barbie, and watching a barely-conscious dragonite stumble around in
chin-high (for the dragonite) water, only to trip and fall and
dissappear underneath the waterline. Looking around, she finds herself
on a large rock about seven meters from the coast of a city...a rock
which already has one fisherman occupant.
"Welcome to Cherrygrove, miss." He nods to the dragonite. "We don't
get many water landings around here. 'S he gonna be alright?"
