"I Can Stop Anytime I Want"
Jose L. Solano
"Hey, Three, wake up!"
"Wha? What's going on?" VSU-0003, or Three as he was called, had spent all
night drinking. He wasn't sure if one of his chips was missing or if he just
had a hangover, but whatever it was, it was killing him.
"Three, the baby's cryin'," Kurt the Abra said. "We're going to get some
food."
"Shit..." Three said through his speakers. "Alright, be quick..." Kurt
walked out of the cave into the main cavern of the Diglett's Cave. Three and
his associates, Kurt and Warren the Skarmory had been using it as a hideout, as
few people ever entered.
Kurt was a typical Abra, of average size and weight. Like most Abra, he kept
his eyes closed at all times, instead using his powerful mind to "see" where he
was going. However, having spent the last five years with Three and his former
master, Kurt had decided to give himself a proper identity by naming himself.
He wore black armor, covering his chest, shoulders, forearms and shins. It was
mostly out of decoration rather than protection.
Warren was intelligent, for a Skarmory, but he had a short attention span.
He had joined Three and Kurt recently, after they had left Three's former
master. Kurt had given him his name, but Warren had chosen his own "clothing"
to keep his sense of individuality. He wore brown leather "socks" which exposed
his toes and something resembling a vest with several belts attached. Neither
Kurt nor Three was sure why he liked it, but they didn't bother questioning
him.
Kurt and Warren walked into a Vermilion City marketplace, looking around
something that an infant would probably eat.
"Everything's too solid," Kurt said in excellent though accented English.
"We need to get him somethin' that's easier to digest."
"-What, they don't have baby food in jars?-" Warren asked, speaking his
native language.
"Afraid not. Perhaps some milk, or apple sauce..." Kurt spotted a jar of
applesauce on a vendor's cart. "Excellent. Warren, go distract that vendor.
I'll sneak the sauce away."
"-Right.-" Warren fly onto the cart and began to speak to the vendor.
"-Yes, and quite frankly, I think you look like a pudgy watermelon that's
too large to move around under its own force,-" Warren said. Of course, the
vendor didn't understand a word of it.
"Uh... aw, crap... go! Flareon!"
"-Aw, crud,-" Warren said. Before the Flareon could attack, he flew off. The
vendor recalled the Flareon and returned to his cart to find Kurt, holding the
applesauce.
"Hey!! Put that down!!"
"So sorry," Kurt said as he disappeared.
A few minutes later, they gathered back at the cave. Kurt was feeding the
applesauce to the baby and Three was attempting to sit up.
"Shit... guys, don't let me drink like that again."
"-Three, you never listen to us. How are we supposed to stop you?-"
"I dunno... uh... aw, fuck it. Just let me kill myself drinking and I'll die
happy."
Nothing special about this, besides introducing Kurt and Warren.
