From: Bandraptor (bandraptor@aol.com) Subject: [PW!] Neo Genesis Evangémon Newsgroups: alt.games.nintendo.pokemon Date: 2001-01-27 05:15:35 PST Blizzard the Persian's eyes slowly flutter open. Without bothering to get up, or even move her head, she glances around the Saffron City Pokémon Center, carefully taking in her surroundings. She is lying on a padded table in what is by now a very familiar place--the intensive care unit of the Center...and she is alone, she is very much alone. "Persian..." Blizzard delicately raises her body to a sitting position, then arches her back, causing each and every one of her stiff vertebrate to pop softly. <Whatever could be taking Samuraichu and Orion? A simple gym battle should not last this long. And where is Darwin? He was right here a moment ago...I certainly hope that he hasn't been slaughtered by some overanxious carnivore--*I* wanted to eat him.> She sighs, and once again lies down to wait for her friends. However, she cannot fall back to sleep, and after experiencing several seconds of boredom, she proceeds to clean herself from head to tail, as a way of passing the time. This task completed, she carefully licks the back of her paw, and lovingly begins to polish the orb-like sapphire on her forehead. This amuses her for all of three minutes, afterwhich she starts to swing her tail about in an impatient manner. "Purrr..." <Friends or not, and dinner or not, they have kept me waiting for far too long. Perhaps the time has come for me to set out on my own. ...On the other hand, it is entirely possible that their truancy is due to some unforeseen factor...they could be in danger. If that is the case, then it is my responsibility to assist them. *If* that is the case. If not, then there's no purpose in my continuing to wait here.> Blizzard twitches her whiskers in frustration over not knowing what to do, <If only I had a sign...> Suddenly, the TV behind her blares loudly (and don't ask why there are TVs in the intensive care units of Pokémon Centers, just go with it), "Are you bored with your life?" the announcer queries, "Feel like you need a change? Know that it's time to move on, but you're just waiting for a SIGN? Well, we have one for you--from the Johto Touristry Division!" Music strikes up in the background, and an upbeat song begins to play: (sung to the tune of "Zankoku na Tenshi no Thesis") Cinnabar, Viridian too Once you have conquered them, what can you do? You have searched high and low for a challenge to face But all of your efforts have gone to waste You've caught them all, completed the 'Dex, And now cannot figure out what to do next Well before you decide to jump off of a cliff We have a suggestion to give: Just west of Indigo, over the mountains A new land is waiting untamed New badges, Gym Leaders, and of course monsters This utopia has a name! Jo-o-ohto the country of the Neo gyms If you're ready, then we are here to take you on! Steelix, Umbreon--you can only find them here We are clearly the ultimate in Pokémon! As for lodging, our hotels are creme de la creme Mention this ad, and you'll receive a free TM!" Blizzard gazes upon the television apprehensively. <Johto? I have never heard of such a place. I wonder if it resembles Seafoam in any way. At any rate, it is intriguing, and the humans there must be kindhearted, if they are generous enough to bestow Technical Machines upon complete strangers. Purr....Not to suggest that my mastery of Mjolnir is inadequate,> She kneads the bedding with her paws, contemplating her own Thunderbolt technique, <but a secondary attack might be necessary, if I am to defeat those foolish Gym Leaders, Wonka and Hazey.> The cat smirks, <Besides, I've always enjoyed traveling. The sights, the sounds, the food...I wonder, does one need a cast-iron stomach to eat Steel-type Pokémon?> She hops down from the table, and lights on the floor, then slinks past the resident Nurse Joy, and exits onto the streets of Saffron City. Walking with her head held high, she notices, but doesn't really pay any attention to the hundreds of people who have gathered outside the Silph building, to see the Porygon2 demonstration; or the small crowd that's picketing outside the train station, with signs that read, "THOU SHALL NOT DESECRATE THE SUBURBAN DEVELOPER'S CREATION" and "THE HOUSES WERE HERE FIRST". The only thing that she pays any attention to are her own thoughts, which are as follows: <Then it is settled. I shall depart for Johto immediately. The only question is...how will I *get* to Johto without money, contacts, or the ability to speak?> (OOC: Anyone in the Saffron area care to interact?) -Beth, of the ever changing sig.
