Come back here! Is this any way to > treat a member of the Rocket Elite?!?" At the Violet City Pokemon Center's front desk, which is found not too far away from the hallway that Ted and Cyclonus were just talking, the blue-haired nurse on late night duty overhears what the human Team Rocket member just yelled to his intelligent Electabuzz partner at the top of his lungs. Nurse Marcia rolls her eyes, "Rocket Elite? He's coming up with ridiculous titles to get kids with low self-esteem who need a ranking to validate their lives to join the team now. How pathetic." She recalls the technique used on her when she was lured into Team Rocket as a depressed fifteen year old girl - they dangled the prospect of vengeance in her face. Nurse Marcia wonders if she should do anything now that she knows that Team Rocket members are staying at the Pokemon Center. Years ago, she would avoid Pokemon Center hotel rooms and opt to sleep in alleyways and the wilderness instead, and she assumed that other members of Team Rocket did the same, at least for fear of the danger of being recognized, but apparently not all Rockets are as easily recognized as she was. Minax's infamy preceded her. Marcia wonders how even a single Team Rocket member got past her without her noticing him, especially since she still remembers the faces, if not the names, of all the Rockets she's seen in her life and, thanks to the Team Rocket database her Communicator gave her access to before it was turned into a Pokegear, even some she hasn't. Three possibilities come to Marcia's mind as she ponders this. She figures that maybe the Rocket got the keycard to his room before her shift started, taking it from the oblivious Nurse Joy who runs the Pokemon Center or one of her even more clueless Chansey. Perhaps the Rocket is a new recruit who Marcia's never heard about, though she rules this out as a real possibility since a new recruit would not have such a high status in Team Rocket unless their Boss has gotten REALLY desperate. The third possibility that comes to her mind is that the Team Rocket members snuck into the Pokemon Center and still haven't gotten a keycard yet... "I'd like one room, and make it snappy, you weird-looking Joy." A generic Team Rocket member who lacks facial hair snaps his fingers in Nurse Marcia's face. Nurse Marcia narrows her eyes at the man, clearly making out who he is since she was still a member of Team Rocket when the man gained some considerable infamy five years ago. All she remembers about him, however, is that his first name is Ted and that he's on a very specific mission. Considering the high rank he's been given, she can't believe that he's wearing a Team Rocket uniform in public. She decides to have a little fun with him, "Say, what's with the R on your shirt?" "Huh? Oh... The R?" Ted looks down at the huge letter 'R' on his shirt, then shakes his head, "Well, it doesn't stand for Team Rocket, if that's what your thinking!" The sound of loud forehead slapping can be heard coming from the nearby hallway, where a certain Electabuzz is obscured from Marcia's view. "Team Rocket?" Nurse Marcia raises an eyebrow at Ted, while rummaging under her desk for a keycard, "What's that?" Ted rubs his hands together happily. Having just talked about recruitment with Nori, Ted is eager to bring someone new into the Team, perhaps someone who can help him trail Nori and the Bomb Ball Bashers. The fact that the nurse looks really cute gives him all the more reason to ask her, "We're... I mean, THEY'RE a top secret organization dedicated to preparing people for trouble, protecting the world from devastation, and uniting all peoples within our... their nation. Wanna join?" Marcia grabs the keycard to room 101, which has an image of an Electrode on it, and dangles it by its chain in front of Ted, "I think that sounds good... in theory. But who's going to recruit me? You can't help me join if you're not on the team, right?" She sighs and drops the keycard to room 101 on the counter, holding back a smile. Marcia still likes playing the little game where she's being completely honest with someone while leading that same person to believe something that isn't true. "Can you keep a secret?" Ted leans forward towards Marcia, adjusting the helmet on his head. Marcia grins and leans forward herself to whisper, "It depends on the secret. I can't tell you if I can keep it or not until I hear it. Are you willing to take that risk?" "Electabuzz." Patrick Stewart's voice doesn't sound quite right saying that word, but that word's what interrupts Marcia's conversation with Ted. Cyclonus comes out of hiding, pretending to be a regular Electabuzz that doesn't speak English so that he doesn't blow what little cover is left after Ted's chat with Marcia. "Buzz." He points to the keycard on the counter, then points over to the hallway where their room is located, hoping that Ted can understand his gesturing, "Electa. Buzz." Ted puts his hands on his knees and leans forwards towards Cyclonus, "What is it? Do you need to go to the bathroom? Did Scourge fall into a well?" An Electrode pops out of one of Ted's Pokeballs and exclaims, "TRODE!" This word could be interpreted as "yes" or "no," and "no" seems to Ted to be the most likely meaning this time. Ted shakes his head at his Electabuzz partner, "Scourge isn't trapped in a well. He's been in my Pokeball all this time! What ever gave you THAT idea?" The loud incomprehensible vulgarities that follow don't lead Marcia to think that Cyclonus can speak English, since he sounds like any other Electabuzz when it's yelling. Cyclonus grabs the keycard, then pushes both Ted and Scourge away from the front counter and all the way to their room, leaving Marcia alone again. Nurse Marcia leans back in her chair, placing her hands behind her head, "I won't call the police. I'd feel too sorry for the Officer Jenny who'd get stuck with him." -Marcia
