From: Dan and his army of Kirbys (kirb9701@aol.computer) Subject: [PW!] Tech Support Needed Newsgroups: alt.games.nintendo.pokemon Date: 2001-02-08 15:43:19 PST The first rays of sunlight shone on the town of Cherrygrove as Dan walked through the gate. The town wasn't very busy normally, and at this late hour the streets were completely empty. No lights were on anywhere. Well, except for one place. Dan's eyes were drawn to the only source of light in the dark town, a large building. In front of it was an illuminated sign reading: "Pokemon Center - Open 24 Hrs." "Well, I should hope so," Dan said, running through the streets to the Pokecenter. "Wouldn't be very good if a hospital was closed in the middle of the night...or ever." - "Hmm...need to send a message back home telling where I am," Dan said, sitting at a Pokecenter computer. "But first, I'll send something to Prof. Oak. He's really going to get it for not telling me about that Pokedex update." He then started up the e-mail program. "Send to: oak@oaklabs.org" read the start of the message. "Hey Prof., You'll never believe where I am right now. Cherrygrove in Johto! I'm sure Elm already told you about me...if not, he will soon. But why didn't you tell me about that HUGE Pokedex upgrade. 100 new Pokemon and it took me this long to find out about it? Get back to me with your explanation. My new Pokegear number is" Suddenly, a box appeared on the computer screen. "Program pkmail60 has encountered an error and will be shut down." Two buttons marked "Close" and "Details" appeared next to the message. "What the...ARGH!" Dan slammed his fist down on the desk, then clicked on 'Details.' Quite a mistake... "Ksdkeif57925subliminablemessagefgrgjjriwi*WFFHWI@$Alsvj;ds,wiewsnvAhha wfjagnpgjkerwAAA39549fckjdjg35rhfooleuvjee!!!egrglhLLLLsdfsdfsdfsdfdoof935 02.fkj:dsfSNSkdsq27~kirbysdkowqakfskjkisiajfi9325j395a8sfshaynajdfieghUwor f65823[]8-);..." "Ugh..." Dan said, his eyes turning to spirals. "Must...eliminate...gibberish..... hhehehehehahahahhoohohoohohaaaaaa..." His arms waved around wildly, hitting buttons in the process. "Searching for file: dsk6k32lsdf.ARG..." the screen read. "What?" Dan said, snapping out of his daze. "What's it doing?" He pressed a button to close the window. "Deleting P:\programs..." "AHHH! NO! STOP THAT!" Dan shouted, and started pushing buttons in hopes of finding one to stop the process. One final message appeared on the screen: "COMPUTER used SELFDESTRUCT!" "I hope this is a joke..." Dan said, shortly before an explosion knocked him to the wall behind him. "Everything okay over there?" Joy called out. "Just fine..." Dan replied, dazed. - Later that day, Dan was standing in a shop, holding a small box. "So what is this, exactly?" he asked the clerk. "That's a Pokegear Map Card," the clerk answered. "It contains maps of Johto and Kanto, and has a GPS device that'll allow you to keep track of your position on the maps." "How much does it cost?" "Only 1,000 Pokedollars." Dan handed over the money and ran outside. He opened up the box, took out another box, which had a smaller box inside, which contained a bundle of plastic wrap, which had a plastic bag inside.... About 10 minutes later, he had the Map Card out of the box. He flipped over the Pokegear and slid the card into one of the expansion slots on the back. One was already taken up, since this Pokegear came with the Radio card pre-installed. "Now we're ready to go!" Dan said. "Now, let's see..." he mumbled, choosing 'Map' from the menu of options. "Next city is Violet...just north of here. Guess I'm heading there next!" He switched on the radio and began the walk north. TBC... -Dan
