Subject: [PW!] There's Something About Aerie Date: Wed, 24 Oct 2001 23:34:51 GMT From: Rob <robfrompw@yahoo.com> Organization: EarthLink Inc. -- http://www.EarthLink.net Newsgroups: alt.games.nintendo.pokemon The moment that Drake and his Nidoking companion appear behind the Violet City Pokemon Center's front desk, Marcia's already heading towards the Center's back room, carrying Aerie in her arms. Just as she arrives at the doors that lead to the back room, an angry-looking Nurse Joy bursts through, dragging a large Crobat by pulling the wing on one of his legs. Upon seeing her first and arguably her most beloved Pokemon being dragged around forcibly, Nurse Marcia's expression changes to one even angrier than the one that Nurse Joy's currently sporting. Marcia snarls at her boss, "Just what the hell do you think you're doing?" "Your Crobat got loose and was trying to break into the Pokemon blood bank!" Nurse Joy releases her grip on the Bat Pokemon's wing and uses the same hand to point a finger at Marcia's face, "It seems you're so negligent you don't feed your own Pokemon often enough. And another thing, you can't speak to me like that!" "I just did." Marcia narrows her eyes, and instead of explaining that she ordered Crobat to retrieve some blood, she shoves past Nurse Joy and heads into the back room, knowing that she needs to treat Aerie quickly. She finds a stretcher made for a Machoke and lays Aerie down on it, then checks the girl's pulse while she wonders what to do next. She was only required to complete one year of formal education to become a Pokemon Nurse's assistant, but she had never studied how to cure humans of their ailments. She's reminded of how miserably she failed at trying to cure Splash of his mental illness, and hopes that she'll be more effective in her treatment of Aerie. When Marcia's fingers melt into Aerie's wrist, she's reminded of something, "That's right! Aerie's half Ditto, and I know how to treat Ditto..." Just as Marcia makes this realization, Omelette the Blissey waddles into the back room holding the injured shiny X-shaped Unown in her arms. She gently places it on a small stretcher placed near the one Aerie's on. As she heads over to the refrigerator where Pokemon blood is kept, she asks, "Bliss sey bliss bliss?" "Type B." Nurse Marcia replies, remembering what her Crobat told her earlier. She walks over to a medicine cabinet, opens it up, and searches for a certain bottle. Nurse Joy storms into the back room, despite Marcia's Crobat's efforts of keeping her from doing so, and says, "Nurse Marcia, I have to have a word with you!" Nurse Marcia grunts through a clenched jaw, "Not now." She finds the vial of medicine she was looking for - a mixture of Ether and Full Restore, a concoction used to treat Struggling Ditto who have weakened themselves due to having run of out energy to Transform. She heads back to the stretcher where Aerie is laying down, pops off the vial's cork, opens up the girl's mouth, and is about to pour the liquid in, but Nurse Joy runs over and grabs Marcia's wrist. Marcia sneers, "Hands off." "You're not supposed to give that to humans!" Nurse Joy argues, her normally cheery voice sounding quite infuriated, "This isn't Berry Juice, you know! It could..." Nurse Marcia overpowers Nurse Joy and without explaining Aerie's half-Ditto nature, knowing time is of the essence, she pours the medicine into Aerie's mouth. Nurse Joy's eyes bolt wide open and she shakes her head, "Ever since I became a nurse, I've never seen a nurse's assistant as blatantly incompetent as you are, Nurse Marcia! And I've worked with the Blissey from Happy Town! You'd better have a good explanation for all of this." "I do." Marcia states, then looks at Joy straight in her eyes, "But right now, instead of hearing me explain, why don't you help Omelette heal that Unown over there?" Omelette carts the blood transfusion machine over to the Unown, with a bag of B-type Pokemon blood on it, then faces Nurse Joy, "Bliss?" Since she's worried that she'll hurt the Unown if she tries to treat it herself due to lack of experience, Omelette's very happy when Nurse Joy nods and begins to prepare a needle. Marcia notices that Aerie's starting to stir in her sleep, and she hopes that the medicine is working. When Aerie grimaces in her sleep, Marcia leans forward and whispers into Aerie's ear, "Don't be afraid, Aerie... mommy's here..." She grabs one of Aerie's small hands and squeezes it lovingly, "Mommy's here to help." -Marcia
