Then the sounds stopped... Before starting again, and rumbling under her... "The Onix is underground, OK? Now Onixes burrow underground leaving underground tunnels, kinda like this one... Anyway, the burrowing occurs so fast that the ground resonates, creating the trembling earthquake sensations as well as a harmonic in the Onix's body. That harmonic, which varies according to the size of the Onix, resonates fairly well through the ground, and that harmonic is what allows female Onixes and male Onixes to find each other to mate..." "You just went over my head for the most part, but I guess you're listening for where the Onix is headed... Right?" "Yeah, that's it in a nutshell..." Yuki put her ear up the the wall again. "So... How do you know this stuff?" "What?" "How do you know about that harmonic junk?" "The Onix went this way..." said Yuki as she pointed down the left passage and began to run down it. Drake sighed and ran after Yuki. Memuyo followed. After running for another quarter-mile, Yuki found a hole in the ground, jumped down it, and began to run down it. It looked like there was a lit up room at the end of the tunnel. As Yuki entered the lit room, the Onix (with Indi, exhausted, on his head) burrowed out of the other side. "Haha! I've got you now! Go Tide!" Yuki's Lapras appeared from her pokéball and stood at attention, waiting for Yuki's orders. "Hey Tide! You got some water left?" Tide nodded her head. "Can you surf that Onix again? I think I'll be able to catch it in my Great Ball then..." The Lapras nodded her head and began to attack the Onix. And then Yolei and Lynkeru popped out from the Onix's hole on the other side. "Thanks for your help Yuki..." said Yolei. Yuki didn't hear her. "Go Pokéball/Great Ball!" the two said at the same time, before throwing their balls. Of course, Yolei was closer, so her ball hit first, trapping the Onix inside the wiggling ball. Indi fell softly to the side of the cave. "Yes! I caught an Onix!" The ball burst open again and the Onix burst out and fell over, nearly exhausted, onto Yuki's Great Ball, opening it to allow the Onix in. "Haha! Spoke too soon! Looks like I got it." Yuki walked over to her ball. "See," she said as she held up the ball, "You need to wait for the red light to turn off, remember?" The red light on Yuki's ball turned off. Yolei stood and fumed at Yuki's catch. "You didn't catch that legally, the Onix is mine. I found it." "Yes, but I caught it, thus it's mine." Yolei and Yuki continued to bicker, while Drake and Memuyo caught up to Yuki. Mamoru was still fast asleep. Yuki lost him around the part where she said, "The Onix is underground, OK?" Lynkeru walked over to the fallen Indi to pick her up. "Uh, guys?" said Lynkeru. "WHAT?" demanded the other two girls. "The exit's over here, and it looks like it's almost sundown... I think we oughta hurry to get to that Azalea place you wanted to go to before nightfall..." TBC? Pipian - I was tempted to have the Masked Rocket appear so as to try to steal Indi, but I think that would work better as a medium sized saga (stealing Indi and taking her to the current boss (and thus unleashing most of Yuki's whole backstory)) in Goldenrod or Ecruteak...
