"WE SHALL GRANT YOU..." dramatic pause, >"...THREE WISHES." > >"Three wishes!?" the Shorts Kid exclaimed. He immediately took to the >ladder in the middle of the room and climbed out of the Ruins. "I'm so on >it!" Drake flew up before the kid had reached the top of the ladder and grabbed him by the back of his t-shirt. "Hold up, shorts stuff." On the way back down, the Shorts Kid flailed his arms and legs like he was still trying to climb the ladder all the while yelling "Lemme go!" "Now, before anyone leaves here, a couple of questions need answers." Drakelooked at the mass of Unown as the Shorts Kid continued to flail. "Since we got one of our previous assumptions blown out of the water, I think it's worth asking: Are these Shiny Unown dangerous?" "NO." "And yet they just grouped together and brushed you aside before blowing out of here." Lynkeru noted. "THEY HAVE ALREADY GONE IN SEPARATE DIRECTIONS." "What about these three wishes? Can you give us anything we want?" inquired Yuki. "CORRECT." The Shorts Kid brightened up and stopped squirming. "Can you make everyone in the world wear shorts?" Everyone sweatdropped and all of the eyes of the Unown mass blinked simultaneously a few times. Drake dropped the Shorts Kid, but the kid stood up straight again instantly "Can you?" "IT IS POSSIBLE." Yolei spoke up "Is there anything special that we need to do in order to capture these Shiny Unown?" "DO WHAT YOU MUST TO RETURN THEM HERE ALIVE." There was a brief pause. Finally the Mass projected "ARE THERE ANY FURTHER QUESTIONS?" Once everyone had shaken their heads in response, the mass of Unown glowed. Itquickly separated into the individual Unown who resumed their former place among the designs on the walls. As everyone looked around the now quiet chamber, Yuki noticed something was missing. "Did anyone see where the kid went?" "No," Drake answered "But we better get those Unown before he does. Dragonites look terrible in shorts." Yolei quickly steered the topic back to less bizarre ideas. "Where do we start looking for the Shiny Unown, then?" This was a situation that Lynkeru was quite familiar with. "Checking the rest of the ruins would probably be best." She suggested. "We might be able to find clues or a trail. At the very least we might find someone who saw what direction they headed in when they split up." <TBC...> And now, the continuation... As our heroes left the main chamber of the Ruins, a figure hid himself in shadows. He had overheard everything that went on in the ruins. "Three wishes, huh?" he said. "I think I know exactly what I'd wish for, and all three will be in the name of Team Rocket." Ken quietly chuckled to himself as he disappeared into the forest. "Well, I couldn't find anything," Yolei admitted as they regrouped later. "How about you?" "Nothing shiney," Yuki reported. *It's getting kinda late,* Mamoru pointed out inside Yuki's mind. "You're right," Yuki confirmed. "We should probably head back to town before it gets dark." "Let's go to Azalea," Yolei suggested. "I think I saw a Pokemon center along the way." "I think Violet City's closer," Yuki pointed out. "We should probably go there, instead." "No, we should go to Azalea," Yolei rejected. "But if..." "We're going to Azalea," Yolei growled threateningly. The next day, our heroines and Drake found themselves walking along the boardwalk on Route 32. "I still say we should've left for Azalea yesterday," Yolei grumbled. "At least you were able to use the PokeCenter's computer to reprogram your PokeGear into an Unown Radar," Lynkeru said. "Whatever that means." "The technology around here is mysterious and fantastic," Indi the fairy said, not being heard by anyone but Lynkeru. "They can even put a man on the moon!" "So? We know a guy who's been on the moon," Lynkeru said. "What?" Drake asked. "He says there's a grassy meadow there, with a tree in the middle," Lynkeru recounted. "He had to fight an evil god to keep it from crashing into the ground." "Riiiiight," Yuki said. "Everyone knows there's nothing on the moon except rocks and dust." "It's what he told me," Lynkeru said. "I didn't say it was believable." "But you believe he went to the moon?" "Hey!" announced Yolei. "I'm picking up an Unown on the radar! It's really close by!" "Where is it?" Lynkeru asked. "It's over there," Yolei said, pointing to a nearby fisherman. The fisherman eagerly tugged at his line, yanking a large Seaking out of the water. He caught in a Lure Ball easily. As the fisherman cast out his line again, they noticed that he used not a fishing rod but an Unown. A shiney Unown. "That one's the letter Y," Yolei said, checking her Pokedex. The group approached him. "Excuse me, sir?" Yolei asked. "But could you lend us that Unown you have? It's really important." "Nope," the fisherman said. "Are you sure?" Yolei pressed. "The fate of the world could very well depend on you giving us that Unown." "Let me think about it," the fisherman said immediately before saying, "No." "Give us the Unown before I make you give it to us!" Yolei demanded, grabbing the man by the collar. Unimpressed and much larger than Yolei, the fisherman remove her from his collar and continued fishing. "It seems your intimidation skills are somewhat lacking," Lynkeru said. "Shut up," Yolei said. "This Unown is the greatest thing that's ever happened to me," the fisherman said. "I've been making catches that you wouldn't believe! In fact, I caught three Lugia just this morning!" "You can't catch three Lugia," Yuki said. "There's only one, if any." "Sounds like a fish story if you ask me," Yolei said. "If you don't believe me, just wait and see," the fisherman said. "I'm about to make a catch that'll leave you speechless!" Almost on cue, he got a tug on the line. The Unown retracted it and towed a large Blastoise out of the water. The fisherman caught it easily in another Lure Ball. "Do those things even live in the wild?" asked Drake. "They gotta come from somewhere," the fisherman explained. "Did you see that?" asked Indi. "That Unown uses it's own body as a fishing line. It stretches and shrinks. Don't we know of something else that does that?" "Listen, how about we buy it off you?" Yolei offered. "You couldn't afford it on a trainer's salary," the fisherman said. "Maybe a trade?" Yuki offered. "If I haven't caught it already, I'll probably catch it soon," the fisherman said. "How about a wager?" asked Lynkeru. The fisherman's ears perked up at the mention. "Go on," he said. "We each make three catches," Lynkeru challenged. "The one with the better catches wins, and the winner gets the Unown." "You got yourself a bet," the fisherman accepted. He reached into his fishing gear and pulled out a rod. "I'll even let you use my old rod." Lynkeru accepted the rod and the two of them cast their lines. Pretty soon, the fisherman felt a tug on his line. He tugged back and pulled out a fearsome Feraligatr. "Hoo-hah!" the fisherman exclaimed. "This little beaut's the fully-evolved form of Totodile, one of the starter Pokemon you can get from Professor Elm." Lynkeru, after fighting with a hooked Pokemon on her line, finally pulled out a Magikarp. "Is it any good?" she asked. "I suppose there are worse," Drake said. "Like what?" Lynkeru asked. "Electrode?" offered Yolei The lines were cast yet again. After a massive struggle, Lynkeru fished herself out a Quagsire. "Mine!" Yolei called out, catching the mudskipper in a PokeBall. "I'll name you Rink!" Meanwhile, the fisherman pulled out a Kabutops. "I thought those were extinct!" exclaimed Yuki. "That's what they said about the coelacanth," the fisherman replied smugly. Once more, the pair fished. This time, Lynkeru fished out a Quilfish. "Nice," noted Yolei. The fisherman quite easily yanked up a Kingdra. "That's impossible!" Yolei exclaimed. "You can only get those by trading a Seadra to someone else while it's holding a King's Rock!" "I guess that makes it rarer than Quagsire," the fisherman said. "In other words, YOU LOSE!" "One more catch!" demanded Lynkeru. "Winner takes all." "A'ight," the fisherman said. "But this time, you'll need to put up some collateral." "Okay, how about... Drake?" "What!?" Drake exclaimed. "Deal!" accepted the fisherman. "Don't I get a say in this?" Drake demanded. "Don't worry, I have a plan," Lynkeru assured him. Turning to Indi, she said, "You go in the water and see what he hooks, then try to find something better." "Right," confirmed Indi before diving into the water. The fisherman cast his line out into the water. Moments later, he gave a mighty tug and pulled Drake out of the water. "What the...?" Drake remarked. "How did...?" Yuki began as she looked over at the empty space where Drake was standing before. "Huh?" Yolei added. "Hey, a catch is a catch," the fisherman replied. *Indi better find something good down there,* Lynkeru thought to herself. They waited a long while. Most of this time was spent standing around doing nothing. Needless to say, it was quite boring. "Oh! It's a bite!" Lynkeru announced. "Really?" Yolei asked. "No," Lynkeru answered. "Just kidding." A minute later, she really did hook something. She pulled and pulled with all her might, but was unable to pull it out of the water. "A little help here!" a still-struggling Lynkeru demanded. Yolei grabbed onto the rod and pulled, but to no avail. "Whoa!" she exclaimed. "This one must be a whopper!" Yuki soon joined in, followed by Drake. "This better not be an old tire," Yuki said. Eventually, the Pokemon leapt from the water and landed on the boardwalk. "Who's that Pokemon?" Drake asked. Standing on all fours, the creature shook the water off itself. It then looked up at everyone, it's large crystal gleaming and it's purple mane flowing in the wind. "It's Suicune!" Yolie, Yuki, and the fisherman exclaimed. "He's the Legendary Beast of Water!" Yolei explained. "And he's all mine! Go, BladeRunner!" "No, he's mine!" the fisherman countered. "Go, Lanturn!" "I saw him first!" Yuki argued. "Go..." Suicune let out a mighty roar, scaring BladeRunner the Mareep and the fisherman's Lanturn back into their Pokeballs. It then immediately dove back into the water. "Well, that was short and bizarre," Indi remarked upon returning. "I suppose ya beat me far and square," the fisherman conceded. "Althoughyoutechnicallydidn'tcatchit. Here's your Unown, little girl." "Thank you," Lynkeru said, accepting the Unown. She then held it above her head and said, "I got it!" "You got Shiney Unown Y!" Indi said. "One of the twenty-six Unown you need to..." "I know what it is, Indi," Lynkeru said, visibly annoyed. "...Get yourself three wishes..." "I know..." "... From the regular Unowns..." "I know..." "... It stretches and shrinks...." "I know what it does! You don't need to explain it to me!" "... Possibly allowing you to cross chasms and scale walls! Ha! I bet you didn't think of that!" "Well, no, I didn't." "See what you miss if I don't explain these things to you?" "Yeah, yeah." "Anyway, you can use it by setting it to <, V, or..." "Do you have ANY idea what that means?" "Um....." To be continued...
