From: Amber Foxwing (creese@qwest.net) Subject: [PW!] To Find Azalea...or Meeting an Old Friend Newsgroups: alt.games.nintendo.pokemon Date: 2001-08-30 22:22:28 PST (OOC: I'll get the WG up for this un soon, but I just HAD to introduce my oldest Pokemon Char into my storyline!) Vix slept on. Her eyelids fluttered as her dreams got more vivid and interesting. She dreamed many things; several dreams were about flying, or simply doing everyday things. But a small portion, as with most people, was full of morbid, dark nightmares. Simply put, an array of images flashed in and out of her head. She turned on her side and sighed. A Pokemon Master would be so nice?or maybe a Gym Leader? Abruptly her dream cut short as she felt herself thrown into a dark room. Dream room, true, but it HURT! She got up and dusted herself off. It was pitch black. It was like walking on air; she could see nothing but black, empty air, and yet she was standing when she should be falling. She started to trot through the space to see what she could find. After a few steps, a hissing, demanding voice shrieked, "HALT!" She did. The voice snapped, "Why are you here? What are you?" "I am a human being," she said casually. "And I'm here to catch Pokemon." Suddenly the room was a meadow, with long grass to catch and find Pokemon. The voice snarled, and she realized she had said the wrong thing. "Pokemon are not for humans to catch," the voice said disgustedly. She took a step back on the field as dozens of red, glowing pairs of eyes surrounded her. She gulped. Abruptly the voice changed the subject. "Have you ever been a Pokemon?" The voice went on, not waiting for an answer. "Have you not felt the anxiety, and pressure, and cold fear of being pitched into a battle against your will? The pain of the finishing blow that will send you spiraling out of the fight? The beatings you take from losing, or the emotional beatings you take from knowing that you cannot beat this Pokemon no matter how long you try? Or the lack of love that humans feel towards their Pokemon. How about being forced to cart you filthy creatures on our backs whether we want to or not? Cut trees? Surf across water? Climb up waterfalls? Why don't YOU try it someday, you filthy thing!" Fear gripped her heart. What WAS this thing? Suddenly a pair of eyes moved. Out came a creature. It had red eyes, and was all black with purple markings all over it. Its ears and tail were razor sharp, and sliced the grass as it went. "I never knew?" she started. The creature snorted. "Of course you knew! You just never thought to think about it! I think a trial will do you good!" The creature howled and suddenly the room was inky black again. A ribbon of black surrounded her and she shrieked as it tore into her skin with a torrent. She was suddenly encased in a black case of shadow with an electrified shield. "Who?what?are you?" she cried, tears streaming down her cheeks. The creature bowed on its front legs. "We go through that every day," the creature said patiently. "I am Shadoreon." Vix whimpered an Shadoreon took a step closer. "I believe a trial was not enough," it said menacingly. "Why not try it as a lifetime guarantee?!" She felt her skin suddenly burning mildly. Her spine, eyes, ears, face, and everything, burned, seared, ached, and cut. She felt pain dart up and down her spine, never bothering to stop. "Not even the Legend can stop me now! You humans will be destroyed!!!" Shadoreon cackled crazily. She heard a howl of fury as she felt the "wrongness" of the attack. She felt that it had gone wrong, but it was effective, none the less. She screamed and woke up in bed in a cold sweat. It was morning. Vix got up and went to the bathroom. She brushed her teeth, combed her hair, and put on her face cream. When she washed it off she felt a bit of a shock. She looked into the mirror with black rimmed eyes and screamed, throwing herself against the wall, staring in disbelief. Her ears had moved up onto her head and become pointed into yellowish cones with black tips. She had little round red circles on her cheeks, her eyes had become pitch black, and a tail had spouted from her spine. Not only that, but her skin was YELLOW! She hurried into her room and gathered a cloak she had used for Halloween last year that covered her face and draped down her body. She flattened her ears against her head and rushed downstairs. "Where are you going?" she heard suddenly. She whirled around to face her mother. "School isn't until 8:00, dear. It's 7:22!" Vix lowered her eyes and said, "I'm leaving. I had this dream and---" "Dear, that was a dream!" "No mom, it wasn't! It did _this_ to me!" She threw down her hood to expose her Pikachu-ish face. Her mother gasped and stepped back. "Where's my daughter?" she breathed. "What happened to her?!" "I am you daughter, mom!" Vix cried. "It was a horribly real dream! I have to save humankind from being wiped out; I don't know if I can, but I'm going to try!" Her mother began to cry and ran into another room. Replacing the hood, she packed a few things into a shoulder pouch. She set out saying goodbye to her mom. She had explored the town several times before, so she knew every possible exit. She set off to a secret one that led into her special place, the Pikachu Field, in Ilex Forest.
