From: Amber Foxwing (creese@qwest.net) Subject: [PW!] Violet's Many inhabitants Newsgroups: alt.games.nintendo.pokemon Date: 2001-07-28 08:23:31 PST As Amber tried to brush away the feeling of everyone staring, she approached the counter. She put down 3.40 and said, "Nurse Joy? What do you have in the way of Pokemon/human food for that price?" Nurse Joy caught herself staring at her. She snapped out of it and smiled. "I'll give it to you for free. Everything's free here for the wounded and hungry! Take a table right over there...if you can find a spot." Amber glanced over at where Joy had pointed and felt herself jump. It was PACKED! There where sleeping bags everywhere, and bags of clothes, as well as many bags with few belongings packed in them. "Why are all of these people here, Nurse Joy?" she asked. "There was a terrible accident that destroyed several peoples' homes. They couldn't catch the crooks." Suddenly Officer Jenny burst in and walked up to the desk, climbed on top and faced the inhabitants of the Pokemon Center. "People of Violet!" she called. "We have captured the culprit who destroyed your homes. It was a band of miscreants named Team Rocket, who have evaded the law for some time! They were arrested and put into jail today!" Everyone cheered heartily! They were glad that no more damage could be done. "But they escaped." Everyone gasped and a few cried. Amber looked up and tapped Officer Jenny's toe. "How did they escape?" "We don't know. Their cell remained untouched, still locked, keys in the guard's pocket," she responded without looking down. "But don't worry! We'll---!" Officer Jenny looked at Amber and Houndour and shreiked, fell off the desk with a crash, and landed on Nurse Joy, who tumbled back as well. A Blissey and A Chansey trotted in and stared at the pair on the floor with alarm. "Chansey Chansey! [What happened?]" "Bliss Blissey...? [Are you okay...?]" "We're fine," Officer Jenny said. "Don't worry." She got up, helped Nurse Joy up, and turned to apologize to Amber. But Amber was gone. Outside, Amber knelt against the Pokemon Center and wept. Houndour tried to comfort her, but it was hard. "She was just surprised, that's all..." he said, hoping to cheer her up. "No! I'm just a freak! A monster! A twisted creature..." "No, you're not! You're Amber Foxwing, and you're not a freak, since you do not bite chickens' heads off. Now THAT's a freak!" he chuckled. "But you aren't a monster! Or a twisted creature. You're just an unfortunate human being who happened to cross up Dharak." "I guess you're right..." she sighed. "But my misfortune just goes further and further back." Fang gave up. It was helpless. Just then Officer Jenny walked up. "I'm sorry, erm...?" "Amber," she muttered. "I'm sorry, Amber. You startled me! If you don't mind me asking...how did you...?" Amber sighed again. She told her the story about Dharak and Nyara being stuck in her. "Oh, you poor thing!" she remarked several times in the story, and once when Amber was finished. "I'll tell you what. Go battle Falkner and feel 100 percent better about yourself! It'll untwist sometime!" Amber nodded. "Thank you." She came out from beside the building and walked into Violet, where she couldn't believe her eyes! The destruction was horrible. The buildings were burnt down and had started rotting after the last rain. The Gym's roof was burnt off, and the rest was decaying too. There were burnt bodies in the road, which really frightened her. But even more were the dead Pokemon bodies lying there as well. There were still a few homes on fire. She realized the people packed into the center used to be only a fraction of the city's population. Now it's all of it. "This is terrible!" she exclaimed. "How could any one do this!" Fang shook his head and nudged a dead Houndour. He looked up and frowned at all of the destruction cast upon Violet. "If we don't stop this soon, Team Rocket might get to destroy other cities!' Just then, a glove came to her mouth and kerchief under her nose, and she black out... TBC
