"I'm gonna catch it!" Sarah the Shepherdess exclaims this phrase, one
she heard that famous Pokemon trainers tend to say. She focuses in on
the purple Ekans before her, who's bobbing around in the grassy fields
outside Violet City. She narrows her eyes, preparing her catching
device, her fingers grasping it tightly...
...and swings her wooden crook, gripping the Ekans by the neck with the
dull hook at the end of the staff, "Now I've got you!"
The wild snake Pokemon had seen his fellow serpentine brothers and
sisters get absorbed into weird spherical devices after hearing those
same words come from the mouths of other humans, so he knew what to
expect. He stands still in fear, awaiting what he imagines to be his
destiny... but nothing happens. "Ekaaans?"
"That's right, I caught you with my crook, Ekans, so now you gotta obey
me!" Sarah smiles at the Pokemon, keeping her crook in place, "I think
I'll call you Hissy."
The Ekans looks down at the wooden loop around his neck, looks back up
at Sarah's grinning countenance, then rolls his eyes. "Kaansssss..." He
simply slides out of the crook's grip, back down into the grass, and
slithers away from the human who wanted to give him what he considered a
really dumb nickname.
"What happened?!" Sarah looks down at her Mareep, who stands faithfully
beside her, "You Tackled it twice. It was weak. Why wasn't I able to
catch it, Barbie?"
"Eeeep?" Barbie tilts her cute little head up at Sarah.
Sarah reaches back and puts her crook back into the holster on her
leather bag, then adjusts the strap running across the front of her
woolen white shirt, "Catchin' Pokemon is hard, Barbie, but it's what
Pokemon Trainers do. Fortunately, that's not all Pokemon Trainers do.
They also win neat badges from Gym Leaders by battlin' their Pokemon!"
This said, Sarah starts walking confidently towards the buildings up
ahead, knowing the Violet City Gym has to be somewhere in the city.
Barbie the small Mareep follows Sarah reluctantly, a little frightened
since the process of winning badges involves fighting, "Maaa..."
Sarah's stride isn't as confident when the sun starts setting in the
horizon and she still hasn't found the Violet City Gym, especially since
her feet are beginning to ache. She's not used to walking long
distances, having spent most of her time at home until just recently.
She pulls out her crook and and leans against it as she walks, so that
she looks even more tired than she really is. Barbie starts baaing
weakly. Hearing her Pokemon make those sad noises, she knows what must
be done, even though she really doesn't feel comfortable doing it,
"Welp, Barbie, it looks like we're gonna have to ask a stranger for
directions. Look, I see someone up ahead..."
-Sarah (NS: Anyone in Violet City feel free to interact with Sarah.
She's shy, which means she's really uncomfortable and timid around
strangers.)
