'Neither, actually." A voice says calmly from a few feet away. Sarah jumps
upon hearing a new and unexpected voice. She looks up to find a thin, purple
haired trainer regarding her. Instantly intimidated by the 6 foot tall boy,
she almost falls over Jason's prone body as she edges back.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to startle you.' The trainer said sounding like he
meant it. "My name is Travis, and the Abra that has been causing you trouble
belongs to me. I hope he didn't do you any serious harm."
Before Sarah could respond, a pop was heard and the Abra in question suddenly
appeared on Travis's shoulders. It's feet were circled around Travis's neck,
it's feet hooked under his chin. It's little hands held on to Travis's ears,
and it's head rested on the top of Travis's head. It looked at Sarah with a
mischievous grin and once more stuck out it's tongue.
Upon seeing the trouble making Abra, Sarah forgot her intimidation. "Your Abra
is a meanie!' She stated angrily 'he pushed me over onto a sick person then
made my own Mareep shock me!"
"Reeeep." Agreed an indignant Barbie from behind Sarah.
'Awww, he didn't mean any harm, he was just playing." Travis said placatingly,
plucking the offending pokemon off of his shoulders.
'Well, you should teach it nicer games!" Another voice joined the discussion.
Travis blinked as a strange creature took a protective stance in front of the
still kneeling Sarah. It was only as tall standing up as Sarah was in her
kneeling position. "Sarah and Jason could have been really hurt if Barbie
hadn't backed off the voltage at the last second!' Amber stated angrily
"Mimic agree." Mimic said as he joined the small group.
"Ok, ok, I'm sorry!' Travis replied. Sitting the Abra on the ground, he said
to it. "Pop Up, you apologise to these people right now."
Pop Up turned his face to his trainer and said defiantly, "Abra ab!" Amber and
Mimic both gasped and Amber said "Potty mouth!"
Travis sank to a cross legged position and talked calmly to his pokemon.
"Listen, you." He said softly. "I know you like to play. I know having people
chase you about is fun for you. But you could have hurt these people, and they
did nothing to you to deserve it. They were minding their own business and you
intruded upon them. Now I know you were just playing around, and that you
weren't out to hurt anyone, but you did. Even if it was an accident, you still
owe these people an apology. Now quit trying to act tough, turn yourself
around, and tell them you are sorry you caused them trouble!"
As Travis was speaking, both Amber and Mimic noticed a very subtle psychic
communication occurring between Travis and Pop Up. It wasn't words that passed
to the Abra, more a gambit of feeling and emotion. it was very subtle indeed,
and Mimic doubted if Travis even knew he was sending. But it had a definite
effect on the Abra. Turning around, it scootched across the ground to Sarah
and laid it's tiny hand upon hers. In a consternate and apologetic voice, Pop
Up said "Abra ab ab abra ab."
"He says he is sorry, he was just playing. He didn't mean to hurt anyone."
Amber translated and Mimic nodded in agreement.
"W-well, ok I guess." Sarah replied hesitantly still angry but unable to deny
the pokemon's sincerity. 'I accept your apology."
"Good." Travis said with a smile pulling out a fast ball. "Pop Up return!" he
said sending a red beam of light out to claim the pokemon. "Now then." Travis
stated while putting the now full fast ball back onto his belt. "What is wrong
with your friend there?"
Amber recounted the story of her and Jason's escape from Team Rocket. As she
was doing so, another trainer appeared out of the woods. This one was a young
girl dressed in a white, sleeveless martial arts outfit tied at the waist with
a black belt. Travis introduced her as Becky while waving the lass over to
join them. The girl wore a backpack and carried another which she gave to
Travis as Amber was finishing the story.
"That's terrible!' the new girl Becky exclaimed. "Team Rocket just gets bolder
and bolder!"
"Too true." Travis said digging around in his pack. He pulled out a bottle and
an apple and offered them to Jason. "A sports drink and an apple, it isn't
much, but it should tide you over until you can get to a real meal." Travis
stated
"Hey people, this truck isn't loading itself!" Sylvester exclaimed from the
back of the truck. he had continued loading wood while the others got
acquainted
'Oops, looks like we cost you folks some time too. How about we help you load
up?" Travis said. He pulled a pokeball off of his belt and released his Golem.
"Give them a hand, Stone." He ordered the pokemon
"Time for some exercise!' Becky exclaimed pulling out a pokeball of her own.
"Help them out!" She cried releasing a Hitmonchan.
"That is a lot of wood." Travis stated eyeing the pile. "And that truck looks
like it has seen better days. How about we load up what it will carry and once
we get it to where it needs to be, Abra and I can teleport back here and pop
the rest back."
