Jason took the lemonade from Becky with a nod. He watched her hand the second glass to Sarah, then walk off. He was sort of embarrassed that he was getting all this attention, but he didn't have the strength to resist and besides, he was starving and couldn't feed himself efficiently. But he was getting his strength back, and was able to drink the lemonade in his hands. Sarah, seeing she wasn't needed anymore, left quietly, without Jason noticing. He ran a hand under his chin and across his neck. His throat felt horrible, like someone had poured acid down it. Actually that wasn't far off, but up instead of down. He smiled lopsidedly and took another swig of his lemonade. He had regained the use of his upper body, and standing wouldn't be much of a problem, but walking for a long distance was out and running would be impossible for a while. > Amber, laughing hysterically at Luthor's ranting, and then his lovely > "trick", finally calms down and runs to help Jason. "I still got it," he said to himself, but immediately regretted it. Amber was his friend, not some bimbo he met in a bar for a one night stand. But, he had to admit she was kinda cute, even with the ears. He finished his lemonade and sat a bit more upright, noticing for the first time Sarah's absence. He felt relieved that she wasn't fussing over him anymore, but also felt a tinge of regret that he didn't thank her. Oh well, he'd thank her later when he had the chance. Slowly, Jason stood up. His knees felt wobbly, like the top and bottom halves of his legs weren't connected, and they were just stacked on each other. He took a cautious step forward, shook slightly, and fell backwards. <Whoah boyo! I gotcha!> Rivet caught his trainer before he hit the ground. "Thanks Rivet," Jason said raspingly. <Man, it sounds like you got a frog in your throat that has a frog in ITS throat!> "I know, and I feel horrible from the waist down." <Dude,> Rivet said glancing down, <I know how hard that is for you,> "Shut up," Jason hit his pokémon lightly on the side of its helmet. "I don't know if I wanna try walking again though." <Then I'll carry you. Everyone's packing up, the truck's all loaded. Most of which was done by yours truly.> "I'd slap you again but I'm too tired." Rivet picked up Jason as he had before when they were escaping the TR base, and walked him over to the truck. Everyone had sat down on any possible surface, the wood, top of the cab, a bunch of pokémon were even perched on the spare tire. He heard Sylvester mentioning in the front seat that it would take a while to get back to his house. He'd have to drive really slow so as not to knock anyone off the back. A lightbulb went on over Jason's head. "Hey Rivet, could you get an acoustic guitar out of the pack?" Rivet nodded and reached into the bottomless back pack he'd set next to Jason. (They'd sold the metal chest not long after leaving on their journey and bought a classic bottomless backpack to carry their instruments in instead.> Jason tuned his guitar as the truck started up and began to rumble down the road. He had a nagging feeling he'd forgotten something, but shrugged it off. > The Natu hugged Amber the best she could, and Amber hugged her back. > Amber turned to thank Dharak with Cyan in her arms, but Dharak was gone. > She turned and walked back to camp, happily and tearily hugging Cyan. > "We have new additions," she said happily.
