Subject: [PW!] Amber's Sunglasses Date: Sun, 05 May 2002 20:13:46 GMT From: "ajdrol" <reeses29@cox.net> Organization: Cox Communications Newsgroups: alt.games.nintendo.pokemon (OOC: Yes, I;m back again. I hate computers with a passion. I keep losing internet and now my comp's up for rebuilding the system. So I'm usin Dad's again. I apologize for the looooong wait, and erm, because of bad memory and the excitement of being graduated to Highschool very very soon, I forgot everyone in this PW group except Jason and Solo. So errr....could you please put that up....please? Erm...sorry!! Oh yeah. We left off in Goldenrod, right?) Amber and co. wondered around aimlessly, wondering when they'd find the Pokemon Center. Really, amber was just looking at the sites. She liked the Huge store, and bought a few TMs for her Poke's. She never really noticed that Lance was still following them. As they exited the building, Solo pointed across the street. "There it is!" he grinned. "Man, I'm footsore. Let's go in." So they went in. Amber rounded up her Pokemon and set them in a cart while everyone else placed theirs in a tray. Soon they were sitting down, enjoying pie. "So, what should we do now?" Jason asked. Amber pondered for a while then looked at Solo. "Erm..." he shrugged. "Don't look at me." A voice came from behind them. "You should go to the Pokemon Gym and battle Whitney." Amber whipped around and was staring Lance in the face, nose to nose. "WAAAGH!" she shouted, startled. She pushed him into his seat. "Jeez! You nearly gave me a heart attacK!" Lance shrugged. "I'm sorry. But you should." Amber bit her lip. "Umm. I don't think I can. I have no more Yen. You need Yen to battle in case you lose." "Well then get some." "How?" "There's a Level 10 and under Pokemon Race. 10,000 Yen prize. It's in the Park. Try it." Lance got up and walked away. Amber thought about the offer for a while. She decided that they should take a walk and discuss it. She presented this idea and they agreed. The walked out of the building, ready to explore some more. "Stop right there!" someone cried. Amber whipped around. "It's Ivory!" The Team Rocket girl and her companion (OOC: Who's name i forgot) jumped off of a building. "I challenge you to a battle!" "I can't! I have no money!" "Well I don't care!" "And my Pokemon aren't with me!" "Then I challenge YOU!" Amber started. She wasn't used to battling. "Fine, then! One on One match! I choose myself!" "Go, Bulbasaur!" Amber crouched down ready to spring. A dark aura formed around her and her eyes turned purple. "SHADOW BALL!" she cried. Sparks of dark energy flew towards Bulbasaur. "Dodge it!" Bulbasaur lept out of the way and landed not far off. "Vine whip!" The little leafy pokemon shot out its two long vines to slash and batter her. She jumped out of the way just in time to have it only clip her shoulder. "Hypnosis!" she shouted. She began to sing. It had an eerie quality it. But Bulbasaur had thoroughly stuffed its ears with seed pods and vines. She knew it wasn't working, so she stopped. "First paralyze her with Stun Spore!" Little fluffy yellow spores drifted down onto Amber. She felt her joints lock up and she couldn't move. "Now, my Pokemon, use Solar Beam!!!!" Her companions watched from the sidelines, hoping Amber would be ok. A blinding light soared from Bulbasaur's seed pod towards Amber, wide-eyed in fear. All she could see was white white light. It slammed into her and she flew backwards. "I declare that I have won." Ivory stepped back. "Hmm...I think that I would take something from you. But I feel I'm in a giving mood." She walked over and kicked Amber in the side. "That's your dues. Now ta-ta!" She and her companion disappeared. Amber's companions rushed over to her. "Amber! Are you ok?!" Jason cried. Amber sat up. "Yeah...yeah I'm fine." But she was lying. All she could see was bright white. She could vaguely see shapes, but only when they were close. They could tell something was wrong because her pupils were barely pinpoints. "Come on Amber. We ought to find an optometrist to check out your eyes." "But---ok." Their Pokemon wouldn't be done for a few more hours so they took her to the nearest Optometrist in that town. *** "Hmm," hummed the doctor. "You are partially blind. But not the usual kind. Instead of everything being dark, it's all white, right?" "Yes, sir..." "Well, you are a special case, aren't you? I have just the thing, though." He led her into a room to do some tests while Jason and Solo sat in the waiting room. /Will she ever stop getting into trouble?/ thought Jason. Soon, she came out wearing sunglasses. "I'm fine. He just gave me some corrective sunglasses. I'm not to go anywhere without them. But I'm fine now, and I can see almost normally." She turned to the doctor. "Thank you sir. Erm...how much do I owe?" "Nothing. It's on me. Now go on...get out of here!" And so they left the optometrist, and headed back to the Pokemon Center where their Pokemon were waiting. TBC Ok, again! That was some idea I came up with today. I've been reading way too much "Land of Lost Mythology". It's a webcomic on Keenspace. ^_^ By the way...I noticed in the show that when people paralyze, their joints just lock up. But wouldn't they really just like...fall over or something? *shrugs* I just did it like they do in the show. Ummmm...Ok...buh bye now.! ~Amber
