Amber had retired to the couch during all this and was staring at the ceiling, memorizing the patterns of the popcorn shapes. She had so far picked out a bird, an umbrella, and a dog. She was so fixated on them that she didn't hear any one come up beside her. Especially not two people. "Amber," came a familiar voice. She wasn't sure if it was welcome or not. She sat up and stared at the speaker. Dharak and Jason had come up to the couch. Jason had a suspicious look on his face, as if he was just waiting for Dharak to strangle her. "Amber, would you feel too uncomfortable if we took a walk?" Dharak asked. Amber soon adopted Jason's look and bit her lip. "Why?" "There is something I think you should be aware of that I don't wish to reveal in company of others." "Oh? Why is that?" "Nothing you should know about now. I think you would very much like to hear." "I see. I suppose." "Don't hurt her," Jason warned, brandishing a fist. He wasn't in any condition to fight, and he knew it. Dharak did too. "You can't fight me like that, Bard. But don't worry. Amber's life and dignity are in perfectly safe hands." Jason snorted then turned to Amber. "If he tries anything, you have my permission to seriously hurt him." "A-ok." Amber rose from her spot and followed Dharak out the back door. They started walking towards the forest. "Where are we going?" she asked as she looked at her surroundings. "Some place peaceful. I'd rather you have a place to sit down for this." Amber gave a wary look around and noticed they were on their way to somewhere familiar. They were about half-way into the orchard when he stopped. He glanced up and around, making sure no one was around then turned back to her. "Amber, I am like you." Amber, thoroughly taken aback by this, had no idea what he was talking about. She responded as such. "Eh?" she said blankly. "I mean I'm a half-breed. I'm not fully human either." This surprised her even more. She couldn't seem to get any words out. "Buh-buh-but you...you...you're HUMAN!" "Ah, to the eyes, perhaps. I learned a spell that will keep my half-breed appearance hidden." Amber's astonishment was overcome by anger. She deftly snatched up the collar of his trenchcoat and yanked him closer until his nose was against her own. "Why. did. you. not. tell. me. THIS?!?!" she said, getting louder with each word. He pulled away slightly, but she didn't let go. "I, uh, didn't think you were ready," he coughed. "READY!? READY TO BE NORMAL?!" she cried. She calmed herself down before her palms started bleeding like some action anime. "Teach. me. now." she hissed. "I'm sorry; I cannot teach it to any one who is not able to use it." "Oh I'm incapable now!" "No, you just don't have access to manipulation of ki*." "So you dragged me all the way out here to tell me THIS?!" "No. I can use the spell on others. But it wouldn't be as powerful as if you had done it yourself." "Fine fine! Do the spell!!! Why wouldn't it be as powerful?" "Nyura would be hidden, but only until you access her powers. Then your ears, claws, everything will come back until you've finished using her energy." "Ok then. Will you do it?" "Yes." He spread his arms wide then brought them together, uttering a few inaudible words. He then cupped his hands (ooc: anime cliche alert!) and a white light appeared between them. He sent the energy around her and began changing the patterns of ki in the energy realm. **** The door clicked. Footsteps. "I'm back!" Amber said cheerfully. Hmm...no Dharak? Wonder where he is. Jason's thoughts were halted as he noticed others at the dinner table staring at something. He looked up from his pizza and, despite his best efforts, he dropped it in amazement. Amber was...human? TBC *ki = chi = life force/energy. Basis of Feng Shui. > [OOC: Wark...sorry for the delayed response, but we've all been > creatively challenged of late. Still, I hope this will suffice. ^_^;] Wark. I like that word. Hmm. Wark. Sorry for MY delayed response: Taekwon Do and school are simulantaneously shrieking at me, "ME FIRST ME FIRST" while AGNP is only kind of nudging my side saying, "UM excuse me, but don't forget about me!" Heh heh THIS was the preview I was talking about in my gallery. ^_^ Funness. Anywho, I really wanted to do this for a long time cause everyone kept asking what was wrong with Amber when I drew her. lol That and I knew it'd happen some time. . .^.^ lol
