Upset at the bad turn of events, she stiff steps her way to the far wall and leans against it with a huff "Good luck." Travis tells Becky encouragingly as the girl gets ready for her match. As Becky enters the arena, the crowd cheers loudly. Unused to the attention, Becky blushed deeply,. As Bob entered, the crowd again sent up a loud cheer. "Here they are, folks! What kind of show can we expect from these two young trainers? In the first round, both of these plucky trainers defeated Cerulean city gym leaders!" As the crowd reacted with enthusiasm, the announcer went on with what was obviously not meant to be broadcast "shame too, really, I wanted Lily...STILL ON THE AIR? SOMEONE FIX THIS STUPID BUTTON ALREADY! Any way, folks, it is time to get this match underway!" "This will be a two on two battle!' The tournament official announced. "Trainers...begin!" With that, Bob threw his pokeball out, releasing a Mantine. Becky threw out her own ball, and a small Marill appeared in the water. "Bob has chosen Mantine, Becky will battle with a Marill!" The announcer states for the benefit of any who can't see. This would appear to be a mismatch, but we may see some surprises yet!" "Mantine, use agility!" Bob cried. Mantine began to flit about above the water, raising it's speed "Marill, use Double team!" Becky yelled out. Marill concentrates, and suddenly there are four Marills in the water. "Mantine, Bubble beam!" Bob called. The Mantine, chose one of the Marill in the water and shot a stream of bubbles out. Marill was hit with the attack and slowed slightly, but took little damage. "Double team again!" Becky called out, and suddenly two more Marill appeared in the water, the Marill all started swimming around, hoping to throw off Mantine's aim. "Wing Attack!" Bob ordered hoping the Mantine kept track of the real water mouse. Mantine obediently charged a Marill, but when he hit it, it disappeared, proving to be an illusion. "Waterfall!' Becky cried, glad that the Mantine chose the wrong one. Marill shot a sheet of water into the air, and Mantine, not able to tell which direction it was coming from was unable to dodge and took the full brunt of the hit, which drove him under water. "Mantine, use Takedown!" Mantine charged into and through another clone. "Double Team, Marill! Becky called out wanting to keep more illisionary clones in the water. Marill obeyed, bringing the total back up to 6 "Wing Attack!" bob called out loudly. Matinee charged another Marill and this time hit the real one, But since the attack occurred under water, it only served to shove the water mouse a few feet away, damaging it, but not to badly. "Use Whirlpool!" Becky called out worried that the low level Marill wouldn't last much longer. At her order, the six Marill in the pool started swimming rapidly around the Mantine. the Mantine was caught up in the powerful current of the attack and hit two of the stone platforms before breaking free and taking to the air. The Marill, not noticing that Mantine was airborne again funneled down to the bottom of the Whirlpool, still swimming to keep it going. "Mantine, Take Down attack!' Bob hollered out to make himself heard over the roar of the water. Mantine dived straight down, guaranteed a hit at the tight formation of Marill and it's clones. The impact was devastating. Both for the Marill and the Mantine, who hit the arena floor The water cascaded down covering both pokemon, who soon floated to the top as their trainers looked on anxiously. as the Mantine reached the surface, he continued to rise. Marill also surfaced, but his eyes were dazed "Marill is unable to battle!" The official declared after a moment of no movement. "Mantine is the winner!" Becky recalled the fainted Marill and said to the pokeball, "Good job. Great first battle!" "So Bob's Mantine pulls out the victory over the plucky little Marill" The announcer cried out. "But it was a costly victory!" And indeed, the Mantine looked unsteady as it tried to stay aloft. "Waverider, I am counting on you!" Becky said softly before letting the Lapras out onto the water. As soon as the Lapras fully materialised. Bob called out before the announcer could once more state the obvious "Take Down again, Mantine!" The Mantine obediently rushed Waverider, slamming into her before she could get oriented. The Lapras gave out a high pitched squeal and was pushed several feet in the opposite direction. "What a devastating attack!' the announcer cried. "But what is this? Mantine seems to have hurt itself as mucbh as it hurt the Lapras!" And indeed, the Mantine was floating motionless on the water. "Mantine is unable to battle, the victory goes to Waverider!" The Mantine had fainted itself from the impact of the attack! "Mantine return!" Bob called out returning the rental to its pokeball. "You did well." He told it. As Bob was doing this, Waverider turned its head and took a bit out of something on her shell. Immediately she floated steadier in the water and looked better. The Leftovers on her shell returned a goodly amount of health to her. "What Pokemon will Bob come out with next?" The announcer called out. Bob answered throwing out his pokeball. "It's another Mantine!" The announcer cried. Indeed, another Mantine floated above the water, taking in it's surroundings. This one was a much lighter blue than the one just recalled. "This is the Pokemon I caught last night on the beach." Bob stated to Becky. "Let's see if it's Dragon blood adds any spirit! Stingray, use Twister!" The Mantine obeyed, creating a visible miniature tornado! Where the Twister touched the water, it drew it up and formed a ten foot tall water spout! "Waverider, Ice Beam now!" Becky cried. The Lapras immediately shot white energy not at the Mantine, but at the water spout it had created! Raised in the Orange islands, Waverider had trained for a gym match there. Her Ice Beam was used to freeze a geysers hot water, so freezing the water spout was nothing at all. From top to bottom to top again, she turned the ten foot tall water spout into a ten foot tall, thin iceberg! Added a bit more energy to the Ice beam when it reached the top, she pushed it over. Stingray, still trying to direct the spout towards his foe, was caught unawares, and was knocked into the water with a huge splash! Stingray recovered quickly and was floating on the water ready for action when Bob called out, "Use Hidden Power!" Six orange balls of light appeared and rapidly began to revolve around Stingray. They sun rapidly, almost appearing to form a halo around him before shooting violently out in all directions. Two of the still spinning balls hit Waverider, who once more cried out. reaching back, she quickly took another bite of the leftovers on her shell. "We better finish this!" Becky said, then followed with "Use Ice beam again!" Another white beam of energy shot out and caught Stingray before he could dodge. This time the Mantine screamed out, before being encased in ice, floating on the surface! "Stingray is unable to battle!' The official cried. "The match goes to Waverider and Becky Thornbird!" The crowd went wild as Bob recalled the frozen Mantine. No one heard him say thoughtfully to himself, "Guess that dragon blood was a detriment to this match. Sorry, buddy." "Another great match!" the announcer stated as Bob and Becky met to shake hands before turning to exit the arena. Becky saw Travis up in the stands where he had taken his front row seat to watch the match. She beamed a smile at him, which he returned with a thumbs up. Still looking at Travis, she continued towards the exit when suddenly she noticed the purple haired teen pointing back towards the water. Turning to look, she realized that in her excitement she had forgotten to recall Waverider. Red faced she did so as the crowd laughed good naturally at her.
