He was barely paying attention to the match. His opponent was some guy named Andreas, who had a rather large Seaking. "Uh... you're supposed to make a move." "Right, right... Go, Feraligatr." "A Feraligatr?!" Feraligatr sat there, scratching his head. "Feraligatr, Hydro Pump!" Feraligatr did nothing. "Er... Surf! Skull Bash! Struggle? C'mon you worthless piece of shit, do SOMETHING!" "Now's our chance! Seaking, Horn Drill!" Seaking didn't stand a chance. Within inches of hitting the target, it was thwacked in the face. Yes, thwacked. It was out pretty quickly. "The winner is Trent!" "Wait, wait, wait... I won?! ALRIGHT! WHO DA MAN?! I DA MAN! WHO DA MAN?!" "YO DA MAN!" someone in the stands yelled. Trent's eyes narrowed. "Good match," Andreas said. Trent looked at his outstretched hand, then at Andreas's awkward smile. "No. I'm better than you," Trent bluntly stated. He recalled the Feraligatr and left the arena. -------- Later in the day, Trent sat in the front-row seats with Ashura, who was busy eating popcorn. The next match was Karen vs. Harrison. "What the-?" Trent saw a strange Eskimo woman step out into the field, and then a middle-aged man. "Hmm, it's that Eskimo again. She's probably not too comfortable in the sun. I can understand that." "Slaaaa...?" "I know, I know, but even with the shades, the sun's killing me. So do you have any money on this match?" "Sand." "Really?" "Sandslash. Sand san slash." "No kidding? On the Eskimo lady? That's a lot of money, Ashura. You sure you want to do this?" "Slash. SLASH!" Ashura pointed to the field. The match had already begun. The older man, Harrison, had sent out a Qwilfish. The Eskimo Karen sent out... a Kabuto. "Hmm. That thing looks a lot like my Kab..." It hit Trent like a punch in the face. The Eskimo was Carol in disguise. She had somehow taken his Kabuto when he stole her Feraligatr. On the field, the Kabuto jumped on the Qwilfish and wouldn't let go. "Shake it off!" Harrison yelled. Qwilfish squirmed, but it only seemed to grow tired. Eventually, it gave up and simply floated there. Harrison withdrew his Qwilfish. "The match goes to Karen!" The Eskimo lady jumped with joy in a manner that seemed very un-old-Eskimo-lady. She hugged her Kabuto and waved to the crowd. "C'mon, Ashura. We're going to have a talk with that old lady." -------- "You!" Trent pointed to the Eskimo lady inside the stadium. The halls were deserted, since most people were busy watching the next fight. "Hello there." Trent pulled off the cheap mask. "Er... yeah." "So you made it after all, huh? Hmm. That Kabuto you used. Looked familiar to me. Almost like it was mine." "Hypocritical, don't you think? How about we make a fair trade. Give me Feraligatr back and you get your stupid fossil." "I have a better idea." Trent took his knife from his trenchcoat. "Oh, this again?" Carol slapped the knife out of his hand. "Not this time!" Carol kicked Trent in the stomach and ran. "Grrr... ow... Ashura... stop laughing and... go after her!" Ashura shrugged, still counting his money. "Fine!" Trent took a few moments to get his breath back before chasing after her. "Security! This man is harrassing me!" Carol yelled. She had slipped the Eskimo mask back on. Immediately, Trent was rushed by a team of guards. "Hey, who do you think you are, bugging old ladies!" "Ah, what are you rent-a-cops gonna do to me? Throw me in the stadium's little jail?" "DAMN RIGHT WE'RE GONNA THROW YOU IN THE LITTLE JAIL!" So Trent sat in the little jail. Ashura stood outside, still counting his money. "I hope they let me out in time for my next match." "Slash." "Shut up." Jose L.
