Subject: [PW!] Deciding What Lies Ahead Date: Fri, 5 Apr 2002 01:40:01 -0500 From: "Clayton" <redneckdadd@yahoo.com> Organization: Bell Sympatico Newsgroups: alt.games.nintendo.pokemon In the Sudowoodo Junction, the lone Bob sits in a low-hanging tree branch. At the base of the tree, a Girafarig, Ninetales, and a Mareep lay. Higher up in the tree, a Pidgeotto perches, and a Dratini is in the boy's lap. A shiny Unown, shaped like the letter G, is hovering around Bob. His trusty backpack is lying on the ground, next to the Girafarig just full of supplies of all kinds. Ever since leaving home after Christmas, Bob been wearing a hooded shirt and hunter green pants just in case there's a new change in his physical appearance. "You know, " he starts, not particularly talking to anybody specific. "I was thinking. I wanted to be home for Christmas, but I ended up taking a three month vacation from reality thanks to that time freeze thing." Bob said quietly, sort of ranting. The Unown sort of bobs sadly. Bob takes note of it. "Hey, I didn't say it was bad. I met others that share my ... talents. Plus I got to save two of your fellow Unown, and got you for a friend. Although I'm still wondering how Reflect managed to overpower your kind's Hidden Power, even with your help." He muses. The Unown bobs up and down a couple of times, with a really happy look in its eye and the closest thing to a smile it could manage. Bob was slowly rolling up his sleeve. "You know, the only thing I regret about that is slashing that female Rocket's face with my Razor Leaf out of anger." Bob says with obvious downer sound in that last sentence, looking down at his arm and rolling his sleeve back down. "But, I got my Christmas presents anyway." He went on, perking up. Then he grabbed the neckace around his neck. It was a sterling silver chain with something in it. Where a stone should be, a Miracle Seed sits. He also looks down to his bookbag, where a small egg sits inside of it, motionless. The Unown bobs up and down, remembering what 'Christmas' at the Raiser house was like, despite it being three months late due to his fellow Unown. In the light of the afternoon, the three pokemon in the bottom of the tree have taken a nap in the shade of the tree. The only pokemon left awake is the Unown. "Nown, Unown nown, no Unown." It said with a puzzled look. "Well, I don't know what to do. Those other people in the center said something about battling Whitney. I had thought of going on to Olivine, or going to the Ruins of Alph to learn more about you Unown." Bob said, looking down at the Dratini, still asleep. "Nown Unown Un-OWN!" The Unown says, making motions in the Olivine City direction with it's eye bugged wide open like it was saying 'Please don't take me to the ruins!'. "All right then, problem solved. Olivine it is. Oh and by the way, thanks for freezing that Sudowoodo. He's in a pain in the butt sometimes, but he's usually harmless. You know, you're good at giving advice, you know that?" Bob says. "Unown!" The Unown cries out in pride at both the Sudowoodo and the word 'Give'. Bob pats it on the head and looks to the sky. "Anyways, we should get going soon. I've got six badges to collect, and less time to collect them in. So, little buddy, got any more advice to give?" Bob says looking to see if anyone is around, so he could climb down the tree in his special way. The Unown motions and bobs wildly, pointing in the Violet City direction this time, where four figures are approaching. Bob, already with vines gripping the branch tightly, lookes in that direction, and notices the four figures, but they appear a bit blurry to him. "Guess that means I'll have to wait for Raffy to wake up." Bob says, retracting the vines, and sighing. To help the Unown, Bob points down to the Girafarig. The figures come closer and Bob perks up a bit. He recognizes one of them as the timid Sarah, another, he assumes is her Mareep, now evolved. But the other two were a mystery to him, aside from the fact that it's a Dragonite and a Ditto. As a result, he decided to sit up in the tree, letting his legs dangle off the branch, to see how it plays out. However, for the sake for the timid farm girl, he recalls the Unown and moves the Dratini into a more comfortable position. He's going out on a limb and assume that three sleeping pokemon aren't going to scare her too badly, so Bob lets them sleep. As the crowd approach the junction, one thing was for sure, things would get more interesting today than he had anticipated. ------- Clayton (Sorry for taking so long.
