Subject: [PW!} New happenings in Cherrygrove Date: Mon, 27 May 2002 08:37:29 GMT From: Nuh@uh.dummy (Worry) Organization: RoadRunner - Triad Newsgroups: alt.games.nintendo.pokemon Travis and Becky were looking forward to some quiet relaxation. They made their way to the small town of Cherrygrove on foot from New Bark. Furbreon the Sentret was progressing nicely, though he didn't like fighting other Sentret and fought mostly Pidgey. Travis felt that the jet black (except for a yellow circle on its belly) Sentret had progressed as far as he could in that area, and was looking forward to finding Furbreon some tougher compitition. A goodly amount of time was spent trying to keep the Pokerus that Furbreon had contracted before Travis became his trainer active. he had managed to get the symbiots transfered to both he and Becky's lineup, but it had taken some doing, especially to get it to infect his other pokemon who were in the orange islands. Professor Ivy was very excited to be able to study the virus and promised that she would keep it active amoungst his pokemon in her lab. During their walk to Cherrygrove, Becky had diligently trained her own pokemon while she tried to figure out what to do with the Unknown she had accidently captured. Nurse Joy had told her that it was a Psychic type pokemon, and that it was a rare shiny version of the normal unknown, but the thing seemed to have no pschic attacks at all. Becky considered releasing the thing after Joy told her that it would learn no new moves. Hidden Power was the only one it would ever know. Nurse Joy then further added that this particular Unknowns hidden power was Poison, making it seem even more useless. Still, Becky decided to keep the thing to see if she could make it a viable battler. As the pair entered the normally slow town, they were surprised to find the place bustling with activity. When they had passed through on the way to New Bark just a few days before, the place had been normal, but now people seemed to be everwhere. The streets were full of activity, people jossling each other as they tried to get to where they were going. Travis and Becky tried to pick up on what was going on as they made their way through the crowds towards the Pokemon center, but they were still baffled when they finally arrived. The pairs hopes of spending a quiet night indoors were dashed when they entered the center. The lobby was empty, but when they asked for rooms, Joy informed them that due to the new discovery, no rooms were available, either there or anywhere in town. "New discovery?" Travis asked, dissapointed about the lack of a room. "We were wondering what is going on out there." "Oh! You haven't heard?" Joy exclaimed. "A couple of kids playing in the lake west of town found an underwater tunnel! It looks to go all the way to the Ruins of Alph!. And the scientists, and geologists say that the tunnel is not natueral. It apears to have been made!" "Really?" Travis asked. "All the way to the ruins? That is a long tunnel. Weird that it would be found at the bottom of a lake, though. Who do the scientists think made it?" "They don't know." Joy answered. "They have just started to explore it. They used some kind of device from the air to track where the tunnel goes, but they are just now sending divers down. They do say that the entire tunnel seems to run under water, though, coming up in a large pond at the ruins themselves. And even weirder is that there seems to be several large rooms cut entirely underground along the way. The Acheologists are very excited about what they may find." "Sounds interesting." Travis commented turning to go. "Well, we better find a camping spot outside of town before night falls." "I am sorry we don't have any rooms." Nurse Joy called out. As pair made their way back out of town, they picked up snipets of conversation about the new discovery. There was a lot of excitement in the air. "...indicate that it is thousands of years old...." "...chambers apear to be evenly spaced along the length..." "...arifacts we may find? Who could have made...." "...be problematical. With all of it under water, divers takes would run out long before..." "...least it appears stable, no worries about cave ins and such..." "...no idea how the kids got that deep to find it. probably swimming with their pokemon. going to be intersting to see...." TBC? "...was definately made, but no indication of tool marks...."
