Subject: [PW!] Playing around in Haunted Houses. (Ghastly Busters part 1) Date: 27 Nov 2002 03:58:31 -0800 From: dreadite@hotmail.com (Dreadite) Organization: http://groups.google.com/ Newsgroups: alt.games.nintendo.pokemon Imagine, if you will, a quaint town in the mountains. Surrounded by caves, forests, and lakes. People are drawn to it because of the peace and solitude, but the lake is named Rage. Once in a lifetime, Gyrados evolve there in a festering rampage of draconic fury. What hidden horrors could inspire such destruction in such a place? Who do you call to deal with such a thing? ****** The calm light of the sun comes with a chill breeze over Mahogany town. Andrew O'Reilly stars out of the Pokecenter window with a dull gaze, yawning as he sits up. Other trainers stir as the light breaks through the dark of the night, heralding the new day to the calls of Spearows in the trees. "How long do we have to wait in Mahogany Town? I feel like I've been here my entire LIFE," Andrew exclaims, leaping from the chair. "I've had enough of this." "You say that every day," Eran says, popping her head through the window. "Come on, we have to train!" ****** Deja Vu brings on a sense of forboding repetition that is scaresly wasted on the observant person, for it is a warning to you. A warning that you are about to undertake a course of action that you undertook before, and were unhappy with the result. ****** The ghost scatters a fine mist around itself, flitting from rooftop to rooftop. Searching for release. Humans, they'd never understand the freedom it enjoys. Ghastly will find who the 'trainer' wants. And then he will be free. Why does the trainer want those two detained? Ghastly cares not. The ghost pokemon disappears, and slowly the town begins to appear differently. Like the day before, time flows backward again, and again... ****** "My watch has stopped," Eran states suddenly, folding her arms and giving a pouting expression to the world in general. "This happens almost every day now, it's really annoying." "Why don't you get a new watch?" Andrew rolls his eyes, and starts walking towards the town gate, taking a moment to glance at the large house he passes by on the way out. "Are you coming? The Gym isn't far." "Yes yes!" Eran skips after Andrew, heading towards the largest building in the distance. "That must be the Gym." As the building looms in the distance, Eran and Andrew pause in their steps, and look behind them. Identical buildings, huge houses. "O'Reily? This is weird." "Sure is." "Ghastly..." "Huh?" Sudden, enveloping darkness spreads from the house with remarkable speed, enveloping the two trainers with smothering shadow and gas. The bright flash of pokeballs opening is nearly muffled by the murky blackness, until bursts of fire burn away the smog. "What was that?!?" Eran stumbles forward, face first into a wall. "Ouch." Andrew gets up, and brushes himself off. "Looks to me like we're inside the house. We've been Ghostnapped!" "Mmmphm." Eran removes her face from the wall, and her Vulpix makes a whimpering giggle at the sight. The house is large, expansive and empty. The sound of a soft but deep snoring can be heard underneath the floorboards, and the mist trails through the ceiling. Eran and Andrew stare around with a quiet anticipation. "What happens now?" ****** Ghost pokemon are notorious mischevious on their own. Training them removes a good deal of that, but it hasn't been properly recorded what happens when you order a ghost pokemon to be a hell-raiser, since most hell-raisers are not Pokemon Scientists. It will be a facinating experiment. -- Silph Co. Memo ****** "Looks like it's all in place, sir. The subjects are in the house, and the..." "Enough. This line could be bugged. Are THEY in position?" "Yes sir." The sound of the dead phone line cut the ackward silence. "But it's getting out of hand," the nervous tension in the man's voice was clear. ****** Without warning, shadow balls pour from the sky, causing the floor to splinter as Eran and Andrew duck for cover. Both have their pokeballs at the ready, and all there is left to do is wait. "Hey," Eran whispered, "What are ghost pokemon weak to?" Andrew facepalms, and then looks at the visibly confused trainer. "Well, other ghosts. We don't have any, so we'll have to make do..." He reaches into his belt. TBC? Yeah, it was shorter than I'd like, but it's really late and I wanted to post. Heights, feel free to add something... ;)
