Yuki had pumped him up (or was it threatening him?) to do well, so he figured he stood a pretty good chance of beating his opponent, regardless of whoever it might be. <Might as well size up the competition while I'm waiting for the match to begin...> Mamoru thought absent-mindedly to himself and Yuki. He glanced across the large pool to see the Lorelei he was pitted against. He had heard many stories regarding her, but he wanted to see what she was really like. As he scanned the opposite edge of the water, he suddenly spotted a gorgeous (if not ample in assets) woman step up to the platform on the other side. Mamoru was left speechless. Yuki, however, was not. <What the hell!?!?!> Yuki suddenly piped up in Mamoru's mind. <Does she think she's trying to seduce guys with those things? I mean geez! those are just meant for trouble.> Yuki paused for a moment, considering Mamoru's state of mind. <Damnit... I knew your hormones would get you into some trouble some day, but I wasn't expecting something like this!> <Honest Yuki! I don't mean anything by this!> <Sure you don't... Please... Just TRY to keep your mind on the battle when it's time would you?> <Sure thing Yuki...> The referee took his microphone and announced that the battle could begin whenever the two opponents were ready. "All right... Go Tide!" "Slowbro... Your turn!" The two Pokemon materialized in the middle of the pool, ready for battle. "Alright Slowbro! Get ready to Psychic that Lapras!" The Slowbro veered back towards the his side of the arena and then launched a massive psychic attack on the unsuspecting Lapras. The Lapras, nearly stunned by the greatness of the attack reeled, but was hardly close to being knocked out. "Having a little trouble there?" shouted Lorelei over the water with a unintentionally seductive tossing of her hair. "You could always forfeit..." "Er... Um... Tide... Uh... Just use... Blizzard?" Mamoru was completely and utterly lost for words. The Lapras then closed her eyes and shot a huge ice beam at the Slowbro, knocking it back several feet, but not doing very much damage. The announcer, so adept at pointing out the obvious quickly added, "Mamoru's Blizzard didn't do much damage..." "You can't defeat Slowbro! HEADBUTT!" The Slowbro lowered its head and began to charge the Lapras, gaining speed every second. Mamoru panicked, his mind befuddled by the various emotions surrounding Lorelei's beautiful body. <MAMORU! SNAP OUT OF IT! TIDE'S ABOUT TO GET HEADBUTTED!> shouted Yuki. Mamoru was unaware, taking in Lorelei's sights. He was also blisfully unaware of what happened next. His body suddenly lost balance and fell into the water, and out crawled Yuki, within seconds. "Oh my!" said the announcer, "What is this? the trainer named Mamoru seems to have... turned into a girl? She looks like a totally different trainer! We'll have to see what the referee says about that after the battle." "That's enough of your fooling around with Mamoru's head thank you very much. I'll show you how a REAL woman handles battles. TIDE DODGE THAT SLOWBRO AND THEN BODY SLAM IT!" The Lapras had been given enough warning and had quick enough reflexes to dodge the Slowbro who, with a massive THWONK!, slammed into the wall on Yuki's side of the arena, shaking her to her knees. Within seconds, another massive body slammed the wall right behind the Slowbro, crushing the Slowbro between it and the rock wall. The Slowbro collapsed and floated in the water, defeated. "It looks like Mamoru's Lapras has won! Mamoru moves onto the next round... If the judges allow this substitution that is..." Yuki looked confident, now that she had defeated Lorelei soundly, but the trouble with the "substitution" disturbed her. She recalled Tide as Lorelei did the same and walked over to the edge nearest the referee to shake hands for a good battle with Lorelei. As she did so, she noticed Jasmine, the Olivine gym leader, taking her seat in the audience, and then knew that it was alright. She and Mamoru would move on to the next round without any problems... And no one would ask her about the switch. Or so she hoped at any rate. --- And Yuki/Mamoru move on to the next round! Pipian
