Moments after the Final Round match between Becky and Aerie finishes,
the Whirl Cup announcer sends one final message out to the crowds
gathered in the Scarlet City Coliseum, "Attention everyone in the
Coliseum who entered the Whirl Cup Competition - please head to the
Coliseum's boat dock for today's Closing Ceremonies. This is the last
official announcement I'll be making this year, so I'd like to thank all
the contestants who entered the Competition. I learned a whole lot about
announcing thanks to the awesome matches held this year. I wish Happy
Holidays and a prosperous New Year to every single person and Pokemon
here!"
Robert tells the image of his girlfriend on his purple Pokegear, "Rilli,
I've got to go! The Closing Ceremonies are about to begin. I'll call you
as soon as I'm in my cabin on the S.S. Aqua, on the way home for
Christmas! I love you!" He kisses his Pokegear's screen as Mithril-rama
echoes the last comment he made then his Pokegear switches to Clock
mode.
Robert stands up from his seat in the Gym Leader Section of the
Coliseum. He starts heading towards the Coliseum's boat dock, following
Misty, Rudy, Sissy, Daisy, Violet, and Lily. On his way out, he notices
Marvin's not getting out of the seat he arranged for the magician to
have. "C'mon, Marvin - all the contestants are supposed to go to the
boat dock now!"
"Even me?" Marvin tugs on his collar, "I think I was banned from the
Pool after the little show I held after my match..."
Robert grabs Marvin's arm, pulling him out of his seat, "If they let
Trent battle after he attacked a woman, I'm sure they'll let you take
one last boat ride before heading home."
"Well, in that case..." Marvin removes Robert's hand from his arm,
"There's no need to pull my arm when it comes to free publicity!" Marvin
then races past all the other Gym Leaders heading out of the Gym Leader
section despite that he's about twice as old as most of them.
As Robert continues up the stairs leading to the exit of the seating
section, he notices two of Chuck's student's leering at each other - a
blonde female student and a sandy-haired male student. Although he's
curious as to why they're angry, he just keeps heading upstairs, not
wanting to be late for the Closing Ceremonies.
Belle, the female student, whispers to Timmy, the male student, "Master
didn't let us battle yesterday or the day before, but I've got a feelin'
we'll finally be able to fight tonight. I'll see you outside the Pokemon
Center after Chuck falls asleep. Now if you'll excuse me, I've got a
boat waitin' for me..." She raises her voice to tell Chuck and the rest
of his students, "I'll meet y'all at the Pokemon Center after the
Closing Ceremonies!" Belle runs past Robert on her way to the boat dock.
When Robert arrives at the small harbor on the first floor of the
Coliseum, he notices that most of the people and Pokemon who entered the
Whirl Cup Competition are already present. He glances around the crowd,
looking for a familiar face, and smiles when he sees Travis. The
Diversity Gym Leader walks over to his purple-haired friend and sees
that Travis' traveling companion's not as his side. Robert says, "Hey,
Travis! Where's Becky? I want to congratulate her."
Travis shrugs before replying in his usual calm voice, "When we got
here, a Whirl Cup Guard told Becky that she needed to be upstairs for
the Closing Ceremonies and led her away. I'm guessing she's somewhere
near Maya's balcony."
One of the many Whirl Cup Guards present at the harbor asks, "Has anyone
here seen Aerie?" When no one responds, he frowns.
Yolei and Lynkeru, who are standing next to each other among the crowd
at the loading dock, also frown when no one answers the Guard's
question. They're waiting for Aerie to execute their plan to extract
shiny Unown from within the little girl.
"That girl's unevolved Pokemon were TOUGH... It's as if they were
Trained by Ash Ketchum." Robert comments to Travis, "Her tiny Kabuto
took out your Tentacruel in ONE hit! And I know from personal experience
how well-trained that Tentacruel is."
"Yeah, the Kabuto must've hit Tendril's weak spot..." A smile appears on
Travis' usually emotionless face as he says, "I'm just happy Becky won
the match."
A Whirl Cup Guard at the dock announces, "All right, everyone here get
into the same boats you were assigned on the first day of the
Competition. If you forgot, I'll jog your memory. If you weren't here
for the Opening Ceremonies, wait for your name to be called out." He
flips to the next page on a clipboard he's holding. "When I read out
your name, go to the boat I'm pointing at. Stay in the boat you've been
assigned throughout the Closing Ceremonies."
Trainers obey the Guard's instructions as he reads, "Boat one - Misty,
Daisy, Lily, and Violet. Boat two - Lorelei, Marina, Alicia, and
Trinity. Boat three - Robert, Marvin, Harrison, and Hichiro. Boat four -
Cappie, Bob, and Brome. Boat five - Travis, Rainer, and Jutta. Boat six
- Roxie, Sissy, Rudy, and Christopher. Boat seven - Yolei, Mamoru,
Andreas, and Belle. Boat eight - Trixie and Persian."
After Blizzard the Persian proudly steps onto the barge she was
assigned, the Guard faces a Tentacool, Tyranitar, and Gerudo standing
next to the harbor. Lynkeru, the Gerudo and the only one of the three
able to speak English, simply asks, "What?" When the Guard informs the
three, "You're not contestants, so you have to wait in the audience,"
Sting the Tentacool tells Avalanche the Tyranitar, "Cool tenta cool
coolten ta," and the two Pokemon, as well as the Gerudo, head to their
seats.
Once everyone in the harbor except the Whirl Cup Guards are loaded into
boats, a purple-haired girl approaches a Guard, taps his shoulder, and
asks, "What's going on, mister?"
"Aerie! There you are!" The Guard puts his hand on Aerie's shoulder, "We
want you to stand next to Becky during the Closing Ceremonies, so if
you'll..."
"Gotcha." Aerie winks and she's gone.
"...come with..." The Guard stops talking when he notices Aerie's
Teleported away. He pulls out his walkie talkie and speaks into it,
"Someone near the balcony locate Aerie ASAP. Also, the boats have been
loaded and are ready to go."
Two large doors leading into the Coliseum's Pool open up and the eight
barges in the harbor pass through them, led by remote control. The
audience cheers as the boats approach their positions in the Pool and
continue to cheer even after they stop, facing the balcony where Maya,
the Water Priestess, stands facing Becky and Aerie, who are standing
next to each other. Maya, a beautiful woman with purple hair and light
blue eyes who's wearing a white dress and blue toga, is now holding a
Mystic Water pendant in one hand and her sapphire Sea Spirit scepter in
the other. She points the scepter at Becky.
"Becky Thornbird, I dub thee Water Pokemon Alpha Omega." Maya proclaims.
She places the Mystic Water pendant around Becky's neck. The Water
Priestess announces to the crowd, "A new sea hero has been born!"
Applause, cheering, and whistling fills the Scarlet City Coliseum. After
about a minute, the audience starts quieting down. Maya points the Sea
Spirit at the afternoon sun. The scepter glows blue and she says, "Oh,
Great Sea Spirit and past heroes of the sea - continue to watch over the
Whirl Cup Competition and safeguard the harmony of all humans and
Pokemon alike!"
Shortly after Maya's final prayer, the eight boats floating on the
surface of the Coliseum's Pool head back into the harbor. The people and
Pokemon on the boats climb out of them and head to the nearest exit.
Some wait outside the Coliseum for their companions who were in the
audience. Among these are Cappie, who's waiting for her Magby and
Togepi, Blizzard, who's waiting for Sting and Avalanche, and Yolei and
Mamoru, who are waiting for Lynkeru and Tetsuo.
Robert and Travis are also waiting just outside the Coliseum for Becky
to join them.
The moment Marvin steps out of the Coliseum's exit, he sees Mimic, in
human form, and a Kadabra waiting for him. The Kadabra says, "Now that
you have attended the Closing Ceremonies, I will gladly Teleport us to
Goldenrod City, master."
"Finally!" Marvin exclaims, happy to finally that his Ditto is finally
granting his wish, then he addresses Mimic, "Are you going to come with
us, Mimic? I've got a great Christmas show planned and I could sure..."
"No." Mimic interrupts the magician with his answer. When he notices
Marvin's frowning at the abrupt response, Mimic clarifies, "Mimic stay
here for while. Mimic try locate Aerie. May go Goldenrod later, but
can't promise. Bye, Marvin. Bye Xerox. Hope see soon!" Xerox the Kadabra
hugs Mimic for a moment, then she walks over to Marvin and grabs his
hand.
"Bye, Robert! It was fun traveling with you! I hope you stop by
Goldenrod City some time to see my show!" Marvin shouts out to the
Diversity Gym Leader right before Xerox Teleports him and herself away.
Robert turns around to say farewell to Marvin, but when he doesn't see
the magician anywhere, he comments, "Marvin really IS a good magician -
he just made HIMSELF disappear!"
Travis remarks, "Now if only Becky would appear."
Robert watches as other Trainers reunite with who they are waiting for,
including Belle, who walks off towards the Pokemon Center with the other
members of the Cianwood Gym the moment they exit the Coliseum.
Figuring Becky will take a while longer, Travis asks Robert, "So, where
are you going next?"
"I'm headed home to Lavender Town to spend Christmas with my girlfriend
and my mom!" Robert says before glancing down at his Pokegear, "In fact,
I should start heading over to Transit Town to catch the S. S. Aqua soon
- it's leaving in about three hours. I should've left already since it's
quite a walk, but I really want to congratulate Becky before I go!"
Travis pulls out one of his Pokeballs and suggests, "Would you like a
ride on my Rapidash?"
"Thanks for the offer, Travis, but I don't want to impose." Robert
smiles at the friendly purple-haired teenager, "You should probably hang
out with Becky now, and I need the exercise anyway! Hey, speaking of
Becky - there she is!"
Travis looks over to the Coliseum to see that Becky has just exited,
still wearing the Mystic Water pendant that Maya placed around her neck
and now holding a shiny gold Whirl Cup trophy containing $10,000 in
dollars and coins.
Robert immediately runs up to Becky and shakes her free hand,
"Congratulations, Becky! I'm so happy you won the Competition! That girl
you were up against in the Final Round was a really good Trainer, but
after seeing what she let her Pokemon do to Rudy's Pokemon in her
Semi-Final match, I wouldn't exactly call her a 'hero', sea or
otherwise. I'm sorry to congratulate and run, but I've got a fast ship
to catch! Bye, Becky and Travis! It's been real fun hanging out with you
these past few days!" Robert shakes Travis' hand before jogging
northwards, heading towards Transit Town and the S. S. Aqua docked
there.
