"Well, I suppose it's more for the sake of tradition," Kitsu explained.
"Our line has spawned what were probably the greatest Samurai heroes of
their times. Legend has it that the tradition stretches back to even before
there were Pokemon. We've trained in the ways of our forefathers, without
help of magic or even technology much more advanced than the swords we carry
now.
"Even though following the tradition was completely our choice, we felt
tremendous pressure to achieve our goal. I suppose in a moment of weakness,
we allowed magic to 'fix' a problem that we probably could've changed on our
own if we weren't so afraid of failure. We new we'd be granted the strength
and power of a Tauros and the agility and grace of a Ninetales, but we had
no idea that the how literal the gypsy meant it.
"We thought we'd be able to get away with this little cheat and no one would
notice that we had turned to the black arts. Unfortunately, our 'little
cheat' became a full-fledged Missingno. Our forms were warped to match the
Pokemon whose abilities we tried to emulate.
"We had no intention of turning our backs on tradition, and we still don't,
but our impatience and greed led us to throw it all away. I don't know what
would've happened if we knew of the side effects or if there weren't any to
begin with. Maybe if we never met the gypsy we'd've turned to some drug or
cybernetic implants, or maybe we would've learned that there's no real shame
in failing a few times before you succeed. All we know is that the gypsy
may be able to change our bodies back to normal. Once we get that done,
maybe our lives will return to normal too."
With downcast eyes, Kitsu hung her head. Her bangs cast a shadow over her
eyes as she shed a tear.
"I don't know if we've really learned our lesson yet, or if there is even a
lesson to be learned, but we are ashamed of what we've allowed ourselves to
become. Fame and fortune aren't our concerns anymore. We just want to be
ourselves again. We just... we just... we just want to go home..."
"We kinda ran away," Keaton added. "Didn't even say goodbye. We just left
a note saying we weren't coming back until we fixed everything."
[OOC: Ugh. I don't know if this is at all sufficient. I really have no
clue what kind of answer would satisfy Aerie. Maybe Kitsu and Keaton don't
really understand it themselves, but somehow letting them admit that feels
like I'm having them give up on their mission. If this weren't PW, I
would've just given up even trying to come up with a response and just left
the conversation were it is, but having Kitsu and Keaton say, "I give up,
this is pointless," and just walk off just seemed a little too rude.]
